Jean-Paul Gallant

Moncton – Jean-Paul Gallant, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 4th at the Georges L.Dumont Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Grande-Digue, on April 17, 1940 he was the son of the late Willie T. Gallant and the late Marguerite Léger.
He worked at l’Université de Moncton for over 30 years. He attended the Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix RC Church and was a member of the Club d’Âge d’Or of Humphrey.
Jean-Paul enjoyed spending time with his family and loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting activities. He walked every day, loved ballroom dancing, liked to travel with his wife and was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadians.
He is survived by his wife Alfreda Gallant (Savoie); two sons, Jean-Charles (Margot) and René (Dominique) of Moncton; one daughter Francine Cormier (Paul) of Moncton; five brothers, Charles Gallant(Bernadette) of Fort Myers, Florida, Léonard Gallant of Moncton, Adrien Gallant (Corinne) of Cocagne, Clarence Gallant (Annette) of Grande-Digue, Armand Gallant (Maria) of St-Antoine; one sister Edmée Gallant (late Gérard) of Notre-Dame; five grandchildren, Jérémie, Benjamin, Janelle, Christian, Jean-Michel; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Gérard Savoie (Florence).
Resting at Passage Funeral Co-operative, 3754, Route 134, Shediac Bridge, with visiting hours on Thursday, August 7th, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. No viewing on Friday morning. Funeral Service will be held at La Visitation Grande-Digue on Friday, August 8th at 10:30am.

Moncton - Louis Bourgeois, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on August 9th at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Notre-Dame de Kent on June 20th, 1924, he was the son of the late Honoré Bourgeois and the late Justine Bourque.
He was employed at Leby’s Interior Fixtures in Moncton. He was a member of Notre-Dame-de-la Paix RC Church in Moncton and the Club d’Âge d’Or in Dieppe.
Louis will be sadly missed by his wife, Yvonne (Caissie) Bourgeois and his two daughters Denise (Bernard Chenard) of Mont Joli, Qc and Odette (Ronald Fougère) of Shediac Bridge.
Besides his wife and daughters, he is survived by two brothers, Hervé (Rosa) of Notre-Dame, Ernest (Eva) of Moncton; two sisters, Sr. Doris Bourgeois (NDSC) and Rhéa (Omer Gaudet) both of Moncton; one sister-in-law Edmée Bourgeois (late Thomas) of Moncton; four granddaughters, Isabelle and Sophie Chenard and Annik and Marcia Fougère
He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas.
Resting at Notre-Dame du Sacré Coeur RC Church Slumber room in Notre-Dame de Kent, visiting hours will be on Monday, August 11th, from 7 to 9pm and on Tuesday, August 12th from 2 until the funeral service which will be held at Notre-Dame du Sacré Coeur RC Church at 4pm.
Interment at the parish cemetery.

Gerard Roy

Moncton, NB - Gerard Roy, 54, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Moncton City Hospital.
Born in Bouctouche on September 1st , 1954, he was the son of the late Léonard Roy and the late Aline LeBlanc.
He is survived by one brother; Paul Roy of Moncton; five sisters; Marguerite (Normand Trottier) of Markstay ON, Linda MacDonald of Cocagne; Jeannette (Bob Joly) and Claudette (Jules Béland) both of Sudbury ON; Louise Roy (Gerry) of St-Paul-de-Kent.
There will be no visitation, the funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13th, at the St-Jean Baptiste RC church in Bouctouche at 11:00 am.

Moncton, NB – Ulysse Poirier, 70, passed away at his residence.
Born in MacDougall Settlement on December 31, 1938, he was the son of the late Adélard and Madelaine (Léger) Poirier.
Ulysse is survived by one stepson, Skippy and one stepdaughter, Tracy Alexander, both of Virginia USA; six brothers, Robert (Marie-Jeanne) of Moncton, René (Noëlla) of Notre-Dame, Guy (Anna) of Shediac, Lionel (Fernande) of Notre-Dame, Gérard (Rose) of Shediac River, Lawrence (late Stella) of Cocagne; four sisters, Rita Bourque (Henri) of Moncton, Thérèse Boland (late Harry) of Toronto, ON, Aline Boudreau (Paul) of Moncton, Bernadette Robichaud (late Gérard) of MacDougall; also several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Armand, Léandre and Rodolphe.
Visitation will be at Passage Funeral Co-operative in Shediac Bridge on Sunday, March 22nd from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will take place on Monday, March 23 at the Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur RC Church in Notre-Dame-de-Kent at 11 am. No visitation on Monday morning.

Hervé A. Cormier

Moncton - Hervé Cormier, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont after a lengthy illness.
Born in Cocagne on July 26, 1921, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Onora (Breau) Cormier.
Hervé is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Gérald Cyr) of Abbotsford, BC, Angela (George Moyen) of Valleyfield, QC; one brother, Adrien (Elizabeth) of Moncton; one sister, Bernice (Edward Hicks) of Burnaby, BC; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Florine (2006) and three brothers, Raymond, Normand and Alvin.
There will be no visitation, as requested by the family. Funeral Service will be held at the Moncton Passage Chapel, 625 Mountain Road on Wednesday, May 13 at 11 am.

Léonide H. Cyr

Moncton - Léonide H. Cyr passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 4, 2009 at Protem special care home in Moncton. Born on April 19, 1926 he was the son of Arthur Cyr and Mary MacIsaac and was married to Laetitia Thériault.
A graduate from Saint-Francis Xavier and Dalhousie Universities, he practiced law in Sydney, NS. Grand-Falls and Moncton, NB. He was devoted to his community through his involvement with non-profit organizations and through political life. He served as President of the NB Cancer Society. He was elected for two terms on the Moncton City Counsel and as MLA for Moncton North in 1967 under the Louis Robichaud government and acted as deputy speaker of the house. Mr. Cyr was appointed Queen’s Councilor in 1977 and later chaired the Public Service Commission.
He is survived by his four children, Michel (Carolyne Chiasson-Hooper) of Moncton, Myriam (Gifford West) of Beverly Farms, Massachussetts, Christine (Daniel Daigle) and Isabelle (Yves Marchand) of Montreal, and seven grand-children Sébastien, Virginie, Marion Daigle; Laetitia, Gabriel, Jemma West and David Cyr as well by a brother Leo-Donald (Micheline Saint-Hilaire) of Edmundston and two sisters Virginie Cyr of Edmundston and Constance (Victor Bennett) of Kingston Ontario. Two sisters, Kittyveck and Dorothy and one brother Dr. Joseph G. Cyr predeceased him.
The remains are resting at Passage Viewing Home, 625 Mountain Road in Moncton. Visiting hours from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday November 5th and Friday November 6th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday November 7th 2009.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., at the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce RC Church in Moncton. A reception will follow at Le club d’Age d’Or. Burial will be held at the cemetery Saint-Pierre-de-Cocagne.
