Julian MacDonald Scott (Sonny)

The death of Julian MacDonald Scott of 15 Mecklenburg Street, Saint John, NB occurred on Wednesday April 16, 2003 at the age of 86, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Saint John, NB in 1916 he was the son of William and Geraldine Scott.

Julian worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway for numerous years. He was an avid bowler, secretary for ILA, painter and long-time member of the Men of Fundy. They travelled to Holland in 1990. Julian received 1 of 2 awards from the Saint John Vocational School Oratorical Contest for his oratory on the St. Lawrence Waterways. Julian loved to travel, and could always be heard humming one of his many barbershop tunes.

Julian is survived by his wife Louise (Smith), two sons Stephen Gregory (Lynda) of Kingston, Ontario and Glen (Rachel) of Saint John, three daughters Janice of Saint John, Judith of Regina, SK and Jocelyn of Saint John, several nieces and nephews, special niece Marilyn of Saint John, great nephew Kenneth (Alice) of Toronto, great niece Stacey of Toronto, six grandchildren Greg (Jr.), Jaleeza, Jessica, Lakeezka, Jaleel and Brayden. He was predeceased by his parents William and Geraldine Scott, three sisters Joyce, Sue and Leslie, two nephews Ralph Scott and Gerald Wayne Scott.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home "Chapel" on Saturday April 19, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Following cremation interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. The family would appreciate donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Susan Lori Willard

Susan Lori Willard of Saint John, N.B. born March 13, 1968 passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a very courageous battle with diabetes. She was an honors graduate of St. Vincents High School in 1986. Her love for children, animals and family made her a very special person in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by all.

Susan is survived by her loving father George, mother (Cathy) Mrs. Roy Fairweather, special step mom Lillian, sisters Tammy Willard and Christa Magee, brother Timothy Willard (Sylva), Jayson Magee (Chelsea), nieces Amanda and Shaila, nephew Cody, and many aunts and uncles and cousins.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, N.B. (646-2424) with visitation on Thursday and Friday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday April 19, 2003 at 10:00am. Interment will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery. By Susan’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.

Raymond C. Masters

Raymond C. Masters passed away at the St. John St. Stephen Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness on Wednesday April 9, 2003. Born March 17, 1919 in Saint John he was the son of the late Charles H. and Emma I. (Downie) Masters.

He was a Veteran of WWII R.C.A.F. serving in the North of Canada. He worked most of his life at Admiral Beatty Hotel, his hobbies were walking in the wood, fishing, swimming, Hawaiian Guitar and his computer. Ray loved to tell jokes and enjoyed his friends and laughter.

Predeceased by his mother, father, brothers and sister. Leaving to mourn sister Evelyn Haslett, niece Kathy, step son Jim, and Jimmy and Jennifer (adopted grandchildren), sister in law Jean Masters.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424), with visitation on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday April 12, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Donald Hickingbottom

DONALD HICKINGBOTTOM, aged 70 of Saint John, New Brunswick passed away March 27, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late George and Williamette Hickingbottom of Toronto, and is survived by his wife Audrey, daughters Wendy Chevarie (Raymond) and Karen Holland both of Saint John, and son Steven (Nicky) of Halifax. He was a loving grandfather to Nicole, Kirk, Benjamin, Matthew, and Megan. He also leaves a brother Garry (Phyllis) of Mississauga, and a sister Eleanor (Fred) Kempfer of Bramalea, Ontario. He was pre-deceased by brother Doug (Helen) of Mississauga.

Mr. Hickingbottom was president, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Eastern Bakeries Ltd for 21 years, from 1971 to 1992. He also held memberships on the Board of Directors of Barbour Foods Ltd, Chan Foods Ltd, and Barnes-Hopkins Ltd. Mr. Hickingbottom was very active within the Saint John community. He served as the president of the Riverside Golf Country Club from 1983 to 1984, president of the Saint John Rotary from 1977 to 1978, and was a member of the Union Club of Saint John. Throughout his life Don, was an avid golfer and loved spending his retirement years in Florida with friends and family. In 1983 on the 10th hole at Riverside he recorded his only hole in one.

No visitation will be held by request of the family. A memorial service will be held on May 10th at 2:00 p.m. at the Fundy Funeral Home “Chapel” 230 Westmorland Rd. Saint John,NB(646-2424) officiated by Reverend Lloyd Lake. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Cancer Society, the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care or charity of ones choice would be appreciated by the family. On the behalf of the family, a very special thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit.

Beatrice Pearl Allan

The death of Beatrice Pearl Allan(Burlock) occurred unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 26th, 2003. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Born in Moncton in 1925. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Alice Bullock. She is survived by her husband Lewis A. Allan; two children Christine deJong, husband Frans, Keswick Ridge, and William (Bill) Allan, wife Debbie of Rothesay. She will be sorely missed by her five grandchildren Jennifer and Vanessa (her rosebuds), Erik, Daniel, and Jeffery.

Bea was an active member of the Four Square Gospel Church and was gifted with a generous spirit. She was a devoted volunteer and was honoured by the Beta Sigma Phi by being named woman of the year for her work in nursing homes. Bea and Lewis enjoyed spending the winters in Florida, in a Christian community and will be sadly missed by her many friends there. Bea was talented in arts and crafts and most recently enjoyed tole painting and working with dried flowers.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home (646-2424), 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John NB. With visiting on Saturday from 7-9 pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday March 31 at 11:00 am at Glenview United Church and will be jointly conducted by Rev Wilfred Pelley and Pastor Fred Farren. A reception will follow at the church; interment will take place after the reception at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the Gideon Bible Society, or the Charity of your choice.

James Martin Forestell

The death of James Martin Forestell, loving husband of Marie (McCrossin) of Edith Avenue, Saint John occurred on Wednesday March 19, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born April 12, 1920 in Saint John he was the son of the late Harry E. and Katherine M. (McGrath) Forestell.

He is survived by his wife Marie; four sons James M.J. (Lorraine) of Winnipeg, MA, Michael H. (Diane) of Richmond Virginia, Paul H. (Nancy) of South Hampton, NY, and Harry G. (Jenny) of Toronto, Ontario; two daughters Margaret (George) Mcleod of Fredericton and Elizabeth A. Forestell of Manatoulin, Ontario; one brother Francis W. (Margaret) of Fredericton; two sisters Elinor M. Sheehan of Saint John and Barbara M. Forestell S.C.I.C. of Saint John; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers John, Harry, David and Thomas, and one sister Katherine.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424), with visitation on Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Trinity Church, on Monday March 24, 2003 at 12 noon. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, East Saint John Food Bank or to the charity of the donor's choice.

William (Bill) Suley

The death of William (Bill) Suley (Newf), loving husband of Geraldine (Smith) Suley, of Clarendon, NB occurred on Tuesday March 18, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born August 6, 1940 in Bishop Falls, NF he was the son of the late Malcolm and Ethel (Brace) Suley.

Bill had been employed with the Department of Transportation working on the Westfield Ferry for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine; two sons Malcolm (Christine Lee) of Clarendon and Jamie (Valarie) Suley of Dartmouth, NS; one brother John Suley of Bishop Falls, NF; four sisters Grace Wells of Thompson, Manitoba, Marie (William) Parsley of Powell River, BC, Bonnie (Robert) Strode of Windsor, NF and Linda (Elwood) Kelloway of Bishop Falls, NF; one grandson Braydon; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Kimberley Courtney; sister Elizabeth Clive and brother Arthur Suley.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424), with visitation on Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday March 21, 2003 at 4 p.m. The interment will take place in Wirral Baptist Cemetery in the spring.

Willard Macleod

The death of Willard Stirling Macleod, loving husband of Helen Grace Doreen (McFarlane) occurred unexpectedly at his residence on Monday March 17th, 2003. Born April 11,1939 in Lower Ridge Kings Co. He was the son of Iva (Forsyth) Macleod and the late Jesse Macleod.

Willard had worked in the long haul Trucking Industry for many years. He was the Captain of the Bradley Lake Volunteer fire Department, and also an avid bowler and hunter. He is survived by his wife Helen, mother Iva, one daughter Krista (Edward) O’Leary of Lower Sackville; five brothers Aubrey (Clara) of Havelock, Fred (Alice) of Rothesay, Harold (Carnie) of Alberta, Reginald (Sheri) of Quispamsis and David (Carolyn) of Gondola Point; one granddaughter Jessica (Enrique) Torres of Saint John; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday 7-9 pm and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday March 21st 2003 at 2:00pm. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. The family would appreciate donations made to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Charity of the donors choice.

John Anthony Hachey

The death of John Anthony Hachey, loving husband of Barbara Joan Hachey (MacKenzie) occurred at his residence on Wednesday March 12, 2003. Born October 15, 1937 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Anthony J. Hachey and Agnes Crowe. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Besides his wife and mother he is survived by five children, his sons Wayne (Connie), John (Kylee) and Michael (Jennifer); two daughters Ann Marie (Terry) Bawn, and Janet (Mac) Wickens; nine grandchildren Marianne, Tammy, Shawn, Adam, Scott, Megan, Ashley, Christopher and Emma; one sister Mrs. Mary Storey of PEI; two brothers Francis of Spokane, Washington and James of Hampton; several nieces and nephews.

He was an avid sports fan of all his children and grandchildren. He spent most of his life as a motor vehicle mechanic working for Pete Farron and Bill Randles until he became disabled and then he spent his time camping with his children and grandchildren, and hanging out at Dooley's with his buddies.

Following cremation, visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424), on Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday March 17, 2003 at 10:00AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the Palliative Care Unit Saint John Regional Hospital or to the charity of the donor's choice.
