Peter William Sorensen

The death of Mr. Peter William Sorensen of Shanklin Settlement, loving husband of Catherine (Graves) Sorensen, occurred on Thursday August 5, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1909 in Cody's, NB, he was the son of the late Fritz and mother Elva (Keirstead) Sorensen.

Besides his loving wife Catherine, he is survived by one son Phillip of St. Martins, one daughter Nancy MacDonald (Jim) of St. Martins, one-step son Gary Burchill of Alberta, six grandchildren; Karen, Jamie, Peter, Julia, Shaye and Janet, one great grandchild, Ryan, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Jacob Sorensen and several half brothers and half sisters.

By request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Following cremation, a private family interment will take place in St. Martins at a later date. The family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424).

Lorne Henry Hubbard

The death of Lorne Henry Hubbard, of Golden Grove Road, loving husband of Marie (Faulkner) Hubbard, occurred unexpectedly at his residence, on Thursday August 5, 2004. Born 1930, in Saint John he was the son of the late Henry and Bernice (Hannah) Hubbard.

Besides his loving wife Marie, he is survived by his sons Kevin (Cynthia), Glenn (Kelly), Lorne Henry Jr. (Anne), Scott (Heather) and John all of Saint John; daughters Joan Harding (Bill), Lorna Wilson (Bill), Theresa Hubbard, Linda Hubbard all of Saint John and Norine Bartlett (Jamie) of Westfield; three sisters Venna Linton, Barbara Crowley (Bill) and Geraldine Hubbard all of Saint John; 22 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) with visitation on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday August 7, 2004 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Golden Grove. In Lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Lauza Peters

"Much Loved and Much Missed"

Mrs. Lauza Peters of the Parish of Saint Peter's Church in Saint John New Brunswick died on Thursday, July 29th after struggling for several months with leukaemia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Saint Peter's Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Monday, August 2, 2004. The burial will be at 10:00am Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at Saint Joseph's Cemetery.

Lauza will be missed by her brothers: Dominique, Dolor and Medor; her sister: Francoise Cormier; her children: Jill, Sandi, Don, John and Jean; as well as her grandchildren: Tyler, Jesse, Mitchell, Mikhel, Marya and Martin; her nieces, nephews, other family members, and many co-workers and friends.

Lauza will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to be charmed by her great big smile and welcomed into her strong loving arms. The warmth of her spirit was echoed in the warmth of her oven as she fed an ever-growing multitude of family, friends and pets throughout the years. Lauza's kitchen was always open, and visitors were assured of a nice cup of tea and a word of welcome. Watching sports, she never had a favourite team, but cheered for anyone who looked like they needed a cheer. She was steadfast and loving. The family would like to thank all of her loved ones who offered their support, faith and friendship during her illness. We hope you remember her as we do, baking a huge batch of homemade bread, creating one of her wonderful quilts, working in the garden, walking the dogs and laughing.

Visitations will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Saturday July 31, from 7-9pm and on Sunday August 1, 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Maurice Elliott Bartlett

Bartlett, Maurice Elliott- passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday July 29th, 2004.

He is survived by his loving wife, Miriam Anne (Wakeling) Bartlett, two sons, Rhys of Grand Bay -Westfield and Owen (Sharon Marley) of Nerepis, NB. three daughters, Bronwyn (Scott) Crandall of Longreach NB. Megan Brown of Grand Bay-Westfield, and Myfanwy Bree and Michael Gormley of Lorneville, one brother, Ralph (Audrey) of Hampton NB. One brother in-law, Roy McAdam, a sister in-law, Elaine Bartlett, six grandchildren, George, Judson, Caleb, Wren, Taylor, and Hilary and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Maurice was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Jennie (Godsoe)Bartlett, two brothers, Robert, and Lawrence, two sisters, Viola McLeod and Jean McAdam and brother in-law, Lee McLeod.

Maurice was with the R.C.M.V.R Navy from 1939 –1945 and belonged to the Seaforth Highlanders in the early fifties. He had also retired from Canada Post and was a resident of The Ridgewood Veterans Wing for the past two months.

By Maurice’s request there will be visiting for the “family only.” The funeral service will be held on Saturday July 31st at 11am from the Fundy “Chapel” The family would appreciate donations be made to the memorial of the donors choice.

Darlene E. Oram

Oram, Darlene (Brown) July 26th, 2004 entered into heaven.

Survived by her husband, Barry, daughter, Amanda, whom she loved dearly, her mom Ruby Brown (Hutchins), sister Marvel (Dave) Duncan , brothers, Marven (Barbara) Brown and Earl (Heather)Hutchins, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Predeceased by her dad, Ervine Brown in 1985.

Darlene whom was treated for cancer for 4yrs, rarely complained, and always asked when could she return to work. A long time employee of Wal-Mart had many friends both work and customers. Darlene enjoyed visits with family, friends, and nightly Tim’s with her sister. Born in Minto, New Brunswick on July 4th, 1953, she grew up in Chipman and later her family moved to Saint John. Darlene will be missed dearly by all.

Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, (646-2424) with visitation being held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. And the funeral service on Thursday July 29th, at 2pm from the Fundy “Chapel” interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery. Family would appreciate memorial donations be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation.

Robert Gordon Moore

Robert G. Moore of 40 Millidge Ave., Saint John, passed away into the presence of his Lord on July 24, 2004, surrounded by his wife Georgina and other members of his family.

Bob had optimistically and courageously battled his illness for more than three years. Born in Saint John in 1923, he was the son of the late Albert G. and Lillian E. (Hamm) Moore. Bob was in the grocery business most of his working life, operating stores with his late wife Alice, on Millidge Ave. and at Model Farm in Quispamsis. He was a charter member of Kings Way Assembly in Quispamsis, founded 15 years ago by his son Doug. His great passions in life were his church, his family, his hobby farm overlooking Belleisle Bay and the “Friend And Friend” Christian senior men’s bowling group, which he was instrumental in establishing several years ago. Bob answered his country’s call to military duty during the Second World War.

Bob is survived by his wife Georgina (nee O’Donnell); one daughter, Darlene; one son, Rev. Douglas (Marie); one brother, Rev. Donald (Florence); three sisters, Audrey (Percy) Boore, Colleen Beesley, and Rosalie (Russ) Pease; seven grandchildren, Rob (newly-elected MP for Fundy), Ruth (Bryan) Woodson, Janelle, Rebecca, Sam, Denise and Bobby; and one great-grandchild, Rebekah Woodson. He was predeceased by his first wife, Alice (Beesley), in 1981.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424), with visiting from 7 - 9 p.m. on Monday and from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. on Tuesday, also on Tuesday evening at 7 pm, a Legion Tribute will be held. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday from Kings Way Assembly, 7 Kingsway Drive, Quispamsis. Interment will be in the Fernhill Cemetery. Donations to the palliative care unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital, 96.1 New Song FM, or a charity of the donor’s choice, would be appreciated by the family.

Ralph M. Bowland

The death of Mr. Ralph M. Bowland, loving husband of Jane (Black) Bowland of St. Martins occurred on Wednesday July 21, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1936 in St. Martins, he was the son of Maurice Bowland and the late Mary (McFarlane) Bowland.

Ralph was a Truck Driver/Mechanic for Kathron Construction for several years.

Besides his loving wife Jane and father Maurice, he is survived by his sons Randy (Sheryl), Tony and Keith all of St. Martins; three granddaughters Jenna, Natalie and Rebecca; sisters Clytie Scott of St. Martins, Leah Gallagher of Lakewood and Lynn Bell (Larry) of Rothesay; sister in law Doreen Bowland of Lakewood; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his mother he was predeceased by an infant daughter Cynthia; brother Raymond and sister Rhoda Ellis.

A Memorial Service will be held from Holy Trinity Church, St. Martins on Saturday July 24, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church an hour before the service. Interment will follow the service in Mosher Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424).

Muriel E. "Mig" Brown

The death of Muriel E. (Mig) (McCumber) Brown, of Fairfield, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday July 20th, 2004.

She was predeceased by her parents, Aubrey, and Isabel (Hampton) McCumber and step mom, Lillian (Clifford) McCumber. Muriel is survived by her loving husband, Gordon Brown, three sons, Gerald (Nancy), Andrew (Irene), and Randy (Nathalie) all of Fairfield, NB. three daughters, Rowena (Willard) Fougere of Lower Sackville, Gail Peterson of Fairfield and Deborah (John) Dunlop of St. Martins, one sister, Helen Tufts of Fairfield, fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Muriel also was a member of the U.C.W.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424), with visitation on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11am from Baines Corner United Church. Interment will be at Browns Cemetery following the service. The family would appreciate donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Baines Corner United Church or donors choice.

Marie "Valerie" Crawford

The death of Marie "Valerie" Crawford occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a long period of failing health on Tuesday July 20th, 2004.

She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Olive (Firlot) Godin. Valerie is survived by her loving husband, Willard Crawford, one son, Valmond (Trina) of Saint John, one daughter, Joanne (Gary) Masson also of Saint John .Three sisters, Jacqueline Lovely of Beaverdam, NB. Hilda (Russell) Hayward of Oromocto and Yvette Godin and Kenny Hanson of Fredericton. Four grandchildren, Brenden, Darrelyn, Breanna, and Derrien and several nieces and nephews. Valerie was also predeceased by a brother, Valmond.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424) on Wednesday July 21st, 2004 from 7-9pm and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11am from St. Joachim’s Church. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery following the service. The family would appreciate donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the memorial of the donors choice.

David George Thompson

The death of David G. Thompson, husband of Coleen (Arbeau) Thompson, occurred at their residence on Sunday July 18th, 2004. Born on February 8th, 1964 in Saint John, He was the son of Elson and Agnes (Whittaker) Thompson.

David is also survived by two brothers, Walter (Angie) Thompson of Edmonton Alb. and Donald (Kim) Thompson of Saint John. Three sisters, Carol (Daniel) Sleep of Quispamsis, Deborah (Konrad) Hasel of Fort MacMurry, and Mary MacNeil of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his grandparents, Kenneth and Winnifred Whittaker.

Visitations will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. Saint John, NB. on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9pm and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. the Funeral service will be held on Thursday July 22nd, at 10 am. from the Fundy “Chapel.” Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. The family would appreciate donations be made to the memorial of the donors choice.
