PARENT, IONA BEATRICE Iona B. Parent of Upper Queensbury passed away July 9, 2006 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born at Queensbury in 1914, she was a daughter of the late Ward and Beatrice (Ingraham) Hagerman. Iona had attended the Provincial Normal School and used that education in teaching Sunday School. For a number of years she was organist at the Upper Queensbury Baptist Church. She was a member of the Nackawic Baptist Church and the Women's Missionary Society. Iona was a devoted mother and loved her children and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Josephine Parent, Saint John and Sheila O' Reilly (Brian), Kelowna, BC; two sons, Percy Parent (Mary Ann), Kamloops, BC and Wayne Parent (Vicki), Airdrie, AB; six grandchildren, Andrea and Selena Parent, Lorraine and Daniel O'Reilly, Ryan and David Parent; a sister, Reta Cummings (Russell), Meductic; a sister-in-law, Mavis Hagerman, Zealand; several nieces and nephews. Iona was predeceased by her husband, Milton Parent in 1988, an infant son, David, five sisters, Pearl Cole, Eva Stairs, Edna Cole, Beulah Pickard and Anna Cliff, three brothers Irvine, Leigh and Raymond Hagerman and a grandson, Kristoffer Parent. Resting at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic with visiting hours Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Nackawic Baptist Church, McNair Drive, Nackawic on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Paul Thompson and Rev. Ralph Irving officiating. Interment will follow at Mactaquac Cemetery. For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Iona, the family has suggested the Canadian Red Cross, the Nackawic Baptist Church or the Mactaquac Cemetery. www.flewellingswan.com

O'DONNELL, GERALD ELWOOD The death of the Late Gerald Elwood O'Donnell, of Doaktown, husband of the late Nora (Storey) O'Donnell, occurred on July 7, 2006 at his residence. Born in Carroll's Crossing, NB, he was the son of the late Finlow and Martha (Amos) O'Donnell. Gerald was a heavy equipment operator with Russell and Swim Ltd. He loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing, hunting and especially sailing the river. He is survived by two daughters, Gracie Rhynard of Doaktown, and Joanne (Lloyd) Storey; two brothers, Samuel O'Donnell of Fredericton and Ramsey (Lena) O'Donnell of Carroll's Crossing; two sisters in-law, Lea and Marion O'Donnell; one brother in-law Roy O'Donnell; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; special cousin, Betty Flanagan and five God-children. He was predeceased by one daughter, Peggy O'Donnell; three brothers, Winston, Perley, and Mont O'Donnell; two sisters Annabella Pond and Gretta O'Donnell. Visitation was held from Miramichi Valley Funeral Home on Sunday July 9, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The Funeral Service took place from St. Andrews Anglican Church, Doaktown, on Monday at 11am with Father Andrew Fraser and Canon RB Stockall. Burial followed in St. Andrews Anglican Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Allen O'Donnell, Bedford O'Donnell, James O'Donnell, Harold O'Donnell, Oland O'Donnell, and Orville Pond. Honorary Pallbearers were Lloyd Russell, Myles Russell, Claude Russell, Malcolm O'Donnell, Eric O'Donnell, Bill Charters, John Stewart, Ernest Arbeau, Clarence Taylor, Darrell O'Donnell and Richard O'Donnell. MCFARLANE SR., HENRY JAMES Henry James McFarlane Sr. of Fredericton, NB passed peacefully away, surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 8th, 2006 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Amherst, NS, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Adams) McFarlane and loving husband of Marjorie (Price) McFarlane of 35 years. Henry was a gentle and caring husband, father, papa and friend, he will be sadly missed by his wife, Marjorie and their children, Christine L. Price of Fredericton and Henry James Jr. (Stephanie) of Saint John, NB. Henry will be affectionately remembered as papa by his grandsons, Gabriel James and Dawson Spencer McFarlane both of Fredericton. Grandpa to Adam Jonathan Buote of Calgary, AB, a special friend of Jonah and grandfather to 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Shirley Buote (Paul) of Calgary, AB, James Rodney McFarlane (Kelly Billings) of Burtt's Corner, NB and Juanita Trail of Millville, NB; his chosen children, Laurie Gould (Debbie) of Windsor, ON and Robert Gould of Fredericton, NB; sisters, Margaret Moore of Vernon, BC and Betty LeBlanc of Amherst, NS and proud uncle Henry to numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, his three brothers and his four sisters. Visitation will be held from McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will take place from the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Thursday, July 13th, 2006 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery. HEDBERG, ELSIE M. – after a short battle with cancer, Elsie Mary (Newman) Hedberg, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at the age of 84. Born in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late Mary (Savoie) and John Newman. Elsie worked for 23 years at Centra Care in the dietary department until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of St. John the Baptist (Mission Church) & St. Clement and the Guild of St. Monica. For most of her life she was a resident of the lower west side of Saint John, NB. She is survived by her loving children, Carol Hedberg and Gerald Hedberg both of Saint John; grandchildren, Shawn and Tanya Hedberg; sisters, Lily King and Muriel Chase both of Saint John; several nieces and nephews. Elsie was predeceased by her brothers, Earle, John, Herman and Albert; sisters, Eva and Betty. By request there will be no visiting. Following cremation a memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2006 from St. John the Baptist (Mission Church) & St. Clement, 815 Millidge Ave. at 1:00 pm. NOBLE, WILLIAM L. "BILL" William L. "Bill" Noble, 92, of Rusagonis, NB passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Thursday, August 10th, 2006. Born in Tracy, NB he was the son of the late Adam and Ena Noble. On the death of his mother, at the age of four, he came to live with his grandparents in Rusagonis, William and Isabelle Noble and was raised by his uncle and aunt, Donald and Thelma Noble. Bill was a life long member of the Rusagonis Baptist Church where he worshiped faithfully until the last few years due to declining heath. He was a well-respected and dependable man with a compassionate heart. He was always there to lend a helping hand and assist anyone in their time of need. He highly valued his family and the many friends he made during his lifetime. He will be greatly missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. He is survived by his two sisters, Eileen Noble of Westville, NS and Ethyle Manuel of Ottawa, ON as well as several cousins, one sister - in - law, Louise Noble Johnson; nieces and nephews, special nieces and nephews; Terry and Lois Noble, Dale and Debbie Noble, Timmy and Cheryl Noble, Dawn - Marie and Peter Buck, Donna - Lynn (Baskin) and Wally Rogers. He is predeceased by his parents; grandparents; several aunts and uncles; sister, Nellie and brother, Murray. A special thank -you to Terry and Lois Nobel for the exceptional care given to Bill during his declining health. There will be no visitation by request. STUART, CLIFFORD ALLAN - Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on August 10th, 2006, Mr. Clifford Allan Stuart, husband of Mrs. Rita Louise (Harris) Stuart, of Pennfield NB. Born at Pennfield, NB on March 30th, 1932, he was a son of the late Frederick and Blanche A. (Munroe) Stuart. A loving husband, father and grandfather he is survived by his wife, Rita; seven sons, Richard (Lorna) of Calais ME, Frederick (Helene) of Beaver Harbour NB, Ross (Bonnie) of BC, James of Back Bay NB, Ronnie (Marg) of Blacks Harbour NB, Douglas (Lisa) of Pennfield and Matthew also of Pennfield; four daughters, Joanne (John) Guthrie of Seeleys Cove NB, Darline (Tom) Murphy of Pennfield, Elaine Hawkins of Pennfield and Sandra (Don) Woods of Saint John NB; 24 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Allison (Betty) Stuart of Saint John; one sister, Gwen McGee of St. Stephen NB; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Known as Allan to his friends and family, he was a hard working man and worked for 30 years as a Lighthouse Keeper for Transport Canada. He was an artist, who enjoyed painting wildlife and creating beautiful wood carvings of animals. He loved four wheeling and motorcycling and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Allan was an active member of both the Charlotte County ATV Association and a volunteer with the Charlotte County Ground Search and Rescue. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George NB, from where the service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Sunday, August 13th, 2006, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Grant Alcorn officiating, followed by interment in the Christ Church (Anglican) Cemetery in Pennfield, NB. Visiting at the funeral home will he held on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. PARENT, DORIS (ROCKWELL) - The death of Doris (Rockwell) Parent of the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home, 130 University Avenue, formerly of 441 Russell Hill Road, Saint John, N.B. occurred on August 11, 2006 after a period of failing health. Born in Saint John on March 29, 1915, she was a daughter of Ira and Grace (Barnaby) Rockwell. Before her marriage Mrs. Parent was a florist. She returned to that work after her children were grown. She was a member of Hillcrest United Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and helped in various other capacities. She was always very involved in church activities and enjoyed her home, garden and family. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd W. Parent in 2004 and their daughter, Lynn Cullinan (Brian) of Rothesay in 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Judy McLellan (Hugh) of Rothesay and seven grandchildren, Cathy, Dave, Lloyd, Tom & Lynn McLellan and Justin & Dave Cullinan; three great-granddaughters, Helena, Laura & Leah McLellan; as well as her sister, Shirley Smith (the late Rev. Lloyd) of Saint John; her sisters-in-law, Lois Carlson (the late Rev. Robert) of Rhode Island, and Hazel Parent (the late Rev. Hazen) of Bridgewater, N.S.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John West, N.B.(634-7425) with visiting on Sunday, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2006, with internment following at Cedar Hill Greenwood. GUITAR, GERALD - The death of Gerald Guitar of Jacquet River, husband of Jacqueline (Doucet), occurred Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 73. He was born in Belledune, the son of the late Raymond Guitar and Olive (Chalmers). He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; sons, Danny (Penny) of Middle Sackville, N.S., Timmy (Charlene) of Hamilton, Ontario, Jay (Sandy) of Hampton, Gary (Kim) of Hampton; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Tom, Clarence and Philip; sisters, Lorraine Metevier, Phyliss Rhodes, Janet McGarvey, Hazel Wilson, and Elanor Godin. He was predeceased by his daughter, Joyce, his brother, Raymond and sister, Shirley. His funeral will be held from Saint Gabriel Church, Jacquet River, Monday, August 14, 2006 at 4:00 pm officiated by Father David Ferguson with burial in the parish cemetery.
