Mayme Luella Johnson 1909 - 2006 Mayme Luella (Shaffer) Johnson passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at the age of 97 years. Born in Berry Mills on March 10, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Alice (Steeves) Shaffer. Mayme was an adherent of First Moncton United Baptist Church and a member of the Frank H. Tingley Order of the Eastern Star #5. Mayme will be sadly missed by her daughter, Janet (Eugene) Orr; and her five sons, Lorimer, Sterling (Elizabeth), Dennis (Nancy), Michael (Linda), and Jim (Marla), all from the Greater Moncton area; daughter-in-law, Shirley Johnson of Moncton; 18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Verla (Robert) Ferguson of Moncton; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mayme will also be sadly missed by her caregiver companions, Simonne and Sharon. Mayme was predeceased by Gerald, her husband of 74 years; four sons, George, Frederick, Donald and Gerald; and two brothers, Clifford and Floyd. No visitation by request. Funeral Service at Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at 2 PM, with Rev. Gregory Geldart and Rev. Delbert Bannister officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment, Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Those wishing, floral tributes, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or charity of donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Hilda M. Douthwright Hilda M. Douthwright, 98, of Spencer Memorial Home, Moncton, passed away at her residence on Saturday, August 19, 2006. Born in Riverside, Albert County, Hilda was the daughter of the late Chandler and Francis (Taylor) Douthwright and attended Parkside Baptist Church. Hilda will be sadly missed by her daughter-in-law, Juanita Douthwright, Moncton; grandsons, Rod Douthwright (Lena) and Ryan Douthwright; great grandchildren, R.J. and Bailee; several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Predeceased by her husbands, J. Andrew Lirette (1967), Ownie Douthwright; son, Reginald, (1991); sisters, Bessie, Greta, Marion and Viola; and brothers, Cecil, Fred and Harold. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Monday from 7 to 9. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at 11am with Pastor Jim Alley officiating. Refreshments following the service. Woodrow K. Wheaton 1914 - 2006 Woodrow Keith Wheaton, of Riverview, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, August 20th, 2006. Born in Wheaton Settlement, May 28th, 1914, he was the son of the late Fraser and Mary (Keith) Wheaton of Wheaton Settlement. Woodrow attended school in the Moncton area and graduated from Mount Allison University with a B.A. and B.Ed. Woodrow was a teacher and principal retiring in 1976, following nearly 45 years as an educator. He was an active member of The First United Baptist Church, Moncton, as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Scout/Cub Leader. Woodrow was a member of the Town Council of Sackville, N.B. for many years and a founding member and past president of the South Eastern New Brunswick Branch of the Genealogical Society in Moncton. Woodrow was the president of Moncton Teacher's Credit Union, as well as a president of the Principal Association. He served on various committees and sub-committees of the Canadian College of Teachers, Principal's Council of N.B.T.A. and Canadian Teacher's Federation. In addition, he served as president of the Steeves Family Corporation for a number of years. He retired as Principal of Queen Elizabeth School in 1976, and was honoured by many of his former staff and colleagues who were appreciative of his great career as an educator. Woodrow is survived by his wife of 65 years, Freda (Steeves) Wheaton; son, Keith B. Wheaton; daughter-in-law, Betty; daughter, Carolyn; three grandchildren, Kimberley Wheaton-Fuerst (Rob), Nancy Wheaton and Maryanne Wheaton MacDonald (Dale); two great grandsons, Kolby Robert Wheaton-Fuerst and Kamryn Keith MacDonald. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by six brothers, Alex, Lee, Les, Lloyd, Albert and baby Henry; five sisters, Inez, Josephine, Mary, Essie, and Marguerite. Woodrow was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation prior to the Memorial Service to be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 in the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home with Rev. Delbert Bannister officiating. A reception following the service will be held in the Garden View Reception Room of the funeral home. Interment will be in Wheaton Settlement Cemetery at a later date. Donations to the Wheaton Settlement Cemetery, or any children's charity would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton (506) 852-3530. Vernard George Love Vernard George Love, 73, of Riverview. It is with great sadness that Vern's family announces his passing on Saturday, August 19th, 2006. Born in St. Stephen, NB, Vern grew up in and around the woods he loved in Charlotte County, NB and Pictou County, NS. After 25 years on the road with Hallmark Cards, Vern loved nothing more than a good hand of cards with his family while listening to rain fall on the roof of Whoo Whoo Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rita; his son, Steven; daughter, Susan; daughter-in-law, Charlotte; son-in-law, Chris; his beloved grandchildren, Hannah, Sophie, Simon, Eliza and Angus; and his sisters, Bette and Sharon. Vern was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Reta; and his sister, June. His remains are resting at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Road on Monday, August 21, 2006 with visitation to be held from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm. The Funeral Service will be held at The Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at 11:00am. There will be a reception to follow at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Alderwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Cardiac Care Unit or to The Immaculate Heart of Mary Building Fund. Yvon Goguen 1920 - 2006 GRANDE-DIGUE, NB - Yvon Goguen, 86, of Grande-Digue, NB, passed away Friday, August 18, 2006 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont after a sudden illness. Born in Cocagne, NB on January 15, 1920, he was the son of the late Lévi Goguen and Prescilla Cormier. He was a Retired truck driver and attended La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue. He is survived by his wife, Claira Albert (Goguen); two daughters, Murielle Poirier (Jack) of Fredericton and Paulette Wentworth of Alton, New Hampshire; four sons, Paul Goguen (Elizabeth) of Marlboro, MA, Norman Goguen of Hudson, New Hampshire, Claude Goguen (Antonietta) of Marlboro, MA and Charles Goguen (Denise) of Waltham, MA; three sisters, Louise Cormier (Léo) of Waltham, MA, Carmeline Bourque (Aquila) and Aline Bourque (Ulysse) both of Cocagne; four brothers, Lionel Goguen (Dorine) of Cocagne, Henri Goguen (Marie) of Waltham, MA, Philippe Goguen (Marie) of Gardner, MA and Aurèle Goguen (Florence) of Fitchburg, MA; 16 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lumina LeBlanc; one daughter, Denise Allain; one brother, Léandre; and one sister, Florence. Resting at Coopérative Funéraire Passage Funeral Co-operative with visitation on Monday, August 21 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday, August 22 from 9 am till time of funeral. MCGRATH, HAROLD Harold McGrath, age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Harold is lovingly missed and will always be honored and remembered by his sons, Paul and Michael; daughter, Jill; sister, Elsie; grandchildren, Ashley, Krista, Michael, Paulina, Robert and Stephanie; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Port Wade, NS, Harold is predeceased by his beloved wife, Jacqueline (nee Crotty); his parents, William and Accillia; and brother, Ralph. Harold was Chief Steward on the Princess Helene during World War II and later transferred to Canadian Pacific Railway on train services to Boston, Montreal, Woodstock and Edmundston. Upon leaving the railway, Harold was with the Windsor Tavern, where he became Fredericton's first beverage waiter and later moved to the Riverview Arms, where he extended his warmth and hospitality to many friends and customers. Harold continued on to the NB Solicitor General's Department, where he was Deputy Sheriff, Court Services. His working career spanned fifty-four years. Harold's love of music was shared over decades with his family and friends. A well known banjo and fiddle player, Harold played in dance bands throughout the Fredericton region and was one of the banjo players in the very successful Smoky Mokes Minstrel presentations. In later life, Harold enjoyed his fellowship and fiddle playing with the River Valley Fiddlers. Honourary pallbearers include David Brown, Bruce Gray, Wayne Hallihan, Nathan A. Jones, Norman Stewart, and Donald Sutherland. A Memorial Service will be held at the York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 22, 2006. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

WIGGINS, WALTER BERTON - The death of Walter Wiggins of Quispamsis, husband of Judith (Peters) Wiggins, occurred on Saturday, August 19th, 2006, at his residence. Born in Kingston, ON, he was the son of the late Frank and Trula (Mason) Wiggins. Besides his wife, Judith, Walter is survived by one son, Paul (Karen) of Riverview, NB; two daughters, Tracy Maddux (Daniel) of Tulsa, OK and Erin Wolashuk of Vancouver, BC; one sister, Carol Schram of Hamilton, ON; five grandchildren, Jessie and Lauren Wiggins, Mason Wolashuk, Danielle and Jessica Maddux; one aunt, Jean Wiggins; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Resting at Kennebecasis Select Community Funeral Home 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM. WHITE, HARRY EARL - The death of Harry E. White, age 82, of MacDonald's Point, NB, and formerly of Cambridge- Narrows, occurred on August 18, 2006, at Great Oaks Special Care Home, MacDonald's Point, NB. He was the son of the late Clifford and Alma (Kinkade) White. Harry is survived by his brother, Otty White, Cambridge-Narrows; his sisters, Ruby Nelson, Cody's, Betty and Ben Hinton, St. Stephen, and Ida White, Cambridge-Narrows; nieces, Joan Tubbs and Jane Names; nephew, Lorne Perry; great niece, Valerie Perry; and great nephew, Steven Perry. He was predeceased by his sister, Erma; brother-in-law, Ivol Nelson; and nephew, Kevin Perry. He is resting at Sherwood's Funeral Home (839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Monday from 2 to 6 p.m. Funeral Service will be held from Sherwood's Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2006. Bernice is survived by her husband of 55 years, Leon; three daughters, Theresa Miller (Burtis) of Highfield, Wanda Grady (Ron) of Ontario and Janet Kiervin (Kevin) of Coles Island; three sons, Kevin (Penny)of Nauwigewauk, Gordon of Cambridge and Darren of Youngs Cove; two brothers, Charlie Wood (Marjorie) and Bev Wood (Eva) both of Canaan; four sisters, Lizzy Steen of Apohaqui, Dot Daigle (Edmond) of Sussex, Hilda Thorne (Ron) of Edmonton and Vera Jeffery (Glen) of Bagdad; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Bernice was predeceased by her brother, Earl.
