Lloyd H. MacMullin
May 25, 2001

The passing of Lloyd MacMullin of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Friday, May 25th, 2001. Born in Taycreek, NB in 1913, he was the son of the late Guy and Lena (Tomilson) MacMullin and husband to the late Marjorie (Watters) MacMullin.

Lloyd was in the service for three and a half years and served overseas for two years. He was a barber by trade and worked at this for over fifty years. Lloyd was a member of the Brunswick Street Baptist Church for several years and later a member of the Skyline Acres United Baptist Church. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, the Men’s Golden Club and the Lawn Bowling Club.

Surviving are his daughter Diane Stone of Fredericton, NB; sons Garnett (Meiko) of Vancouver, BC and Dale (Susan) of Fredericton, NB; six grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lloyd is predeceased by his parents, wife, a sister Thelma Greive; brothers, Earle and Alton and son-in-law Joe Stone.

There will be no public visitation by request. A funeral service will be held at the Skyline Acres United Baptist Church, 135 Canterbury Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, May 28th,2001 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Karl Csaszar officiating. Interment will take place following the service in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 will hold a legion tribute service at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, donations to the NB Kidney Foundation, NB Heart and Stroke or the Dialysis Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital would be appreciated by the family. McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home are entrusted with arrangements.

Marion Hazel Bird
May 24, 2001

The death of Marion Bird occurred on Thursday, May 24th, 2001 at York Manor Nursing Home. She was 71 years old. Born in Fredericton, NB. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Katherine (Moss) Hodgson.

Marion is survived by her husband Robert Bird; four sons: Patrick and his wife Heather of Fredericton, NB, James and his wife Wendy of McAdam, NB, Charles and his wife Mary Lou and Christopher and his wife Linda both of Fredericton, NB; one sister: Lois Davidson of Geary, NB.; nine grandchildren: Sarah, Rachael, Katherine, John, Lauren, Thomas, Ashley, Emelie and Karie Lynn; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by both parents, several brothers and sisters.

There will be no visitation by family request. Arrangements are entrusted to McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 26th, 2001 at 11:00 AM at the Devon Park Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Little officiating. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Huntington Society of Canada or to any charity of the donor’s choice.

Bruce Walker Hicks
May 15, 2001

The death of Bruce Walker Hicks of 129 Parkside Drive, Fredericton, NB, husband of M. Jean (Gilliland) Hicks occurred on Tuesday, May 15th, at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.

He was born in Fredericton, NB on December 29th, 1919 the son of the late William B. Hicks and Doris E. (Walker) Hicks.

Bruce attended the Provincial Normal School in Fredericton in 1937.

He then taught school outside Saint John. In 1939 he joined the Canadian Army Bruce served overseas in WW11 rising to rank of Captain. He served in the United Kingdom, Italy, Belgium, Holland and elsewhere in Continental Europe.

Bruce received his law degree from the University of New Brunswick Law School in Saint John in 1949. He joined Fraser Companies Limited in 1949 at its executive office in Edmundston as a member of the law department. He served with that Corporation for 35 years until he retired in 1984 as a vice president, secretary and general counsel.

He was a life member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, the Canadian Bar Association, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries, he was past president secretary and director of the Edmundston Rotary Club from 1949 to 1983. He was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 and the Dr. Collins Memorial Branch # 1 T.V.S., and past president of Edmundston Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 25. He was past president of Edmundston Golf Club and director of the club throughout his years in Edmundston.

He is survived by his sons; Michael (Jane) and William (Sandra), and his brother Donald and grandchildren; Neal, Robert, and Matthew.

There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be at the Westfield United Church, Grandbay, Westfield, NB, on Friday, May 18th, 2001 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials tributes can be made to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital or the New Brunswick Lung Association or the charity of donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home.

Huntley R. Turley

The death of Huntley R. Turley occurred on Tuesday, May 15th, 2001 at his residence. Born in Montreal, PQ. he was the son of the late Ross and Ivy (Robinson) Turley and husband of the late Judith Beverley Turley.

Huntley is survived by brother Vernon Turley (Gavine) of Montreal, PQ.; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by both parents, and his wife.

There will be no visitation by request. Arrangements entrusted to McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 17th, 2001 at 2:00 PM at Christ Church Cathedral with Reverend Elaine Lucas officiating. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the Fredericton SPCA, New Brunswick Lung Association or to any charity of the donor’s choice.

Charlotte E. Mott
May 12, 2001

The death of Charlotte E. Mott occurred on Saturday, May 12th, 2001 at York Manor Nursing Home. She was 91 years old. Born in Tracy, NB she was the wife of the late Chester K. Mott and daughter of the late Parker B. and C. Arminta (Phillips) Nason.

Charlotte is survived by daughter: Nellie Charters (Gordon) of Fredericton, NB; two step-sons: George Mott (Marjorie) of Kentville, NS and Chester Mott of Tracy, NB; sister: Mildred Harris of Fredericton Junction, NB; sister-in-law: Marvel Nason of Tracy, NB; brother: George Nason of Fredericton Junction, NB; two grandchildren: Michael and Gary Charters; three great-grandchildren: Brittany, Brandi and Bailey; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charlotte was predeceased by: her husband Chester in November 1981; both parents; step-daughter: Elsie Nason; three sisters: Roxie, Lucy and Norma; six brothers: David, Ellis, James, Ransford, Ray and Payson.

Visitation was held on Sunday, May 13th, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home, Fredericton, NB. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 14th, 2001 at 2:00 PM at the Fredericton Junction Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Harrison officiating. Interment will take place in the Gladstone Cemetery.

For those who wish, donations may be made to York Manor Nursing Home, Tracy United Baptist Church or to any charity of the donor’s choice.

Lowell W. Kennedy
1929 - 2001

The death of Lowell W. Kennedy of Scotchtown, NB, occurred at Saint John Reginald Hospital on May 7th, 2001 after a short illness. Born on September 7th, 1929 in Hibernia, New Brunswick. He was the son of the late George and Maude (Little) Kennedy.

Lowell is survived by his wife Maxine (Hitchman) Kennedy; son Brian (Barb); daughters Gail Anderson (Gordon) and Wendy Kennedy and friend Donald King all of Fredericton, NB; five brothers, Fred, Raymond (Pearl), Charlie (Alice), Hazen (Eileen) and Ronnie; one sister Irene (Jim); three granddaughters, Trudy, Cynthia, and Jessica; three grandsons, Jason, Gregory, and Jeremy; three great grandsons and one great granddaughter.

Predeceased by sister’s Mildred and Hazel and great grandson Andrew Sowers.

Visitation will take place at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 8, 7-9p.m. and Wednesday, May 9, from 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place in the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 10, at 2:00p.m. Rev. Stephen Tompkins will officiate. Internment will take place in Upper Gagetown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes made to I W K children’s Hospital or charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Jean Evelyn Goodine
May 6, 2001

The death of Jean Evelyn Goodine occurred at the York Manor Nursing Home on Sunday, May 6th, 2001.Born in Fredericton, NB, daughter of the late Mildred (Foster) Jones and the late Colby Irvine, wife of Ronald Goodine.

Jean was an active member of St. Anthony’s Church Choir, the Gilbert and Sullivan Society, and the Fredericton Choral Society. In her retirement she took several English coursed at St. Thomas University along with The Dale Carnegie Course, and she studied piano and was a volunteer at Pine Grove Nursing Home. In June 1991, she was inducted into the N.B. Country Music Hall of Fame as a member of the Marionettes. Jean loved to travel to visit her grandchildren and was an avid gardener.

Survived by her husband Ronald, three daughters Deborah Jeffery (George) of Gold River, BC, Constance Rombough (Robert) of Cammore, AB, Joanne Phinney (Ross) of Saint John, NB, two sons, Gerald and David Goodine of Toronto, ON, seven grandchildren; Samuel Jeffery, Ria and Arielle Rombough, Hallie Goodine –Tennant, Evan, Adrian, and Allyson Phinney, one sister Nan Stephens (Sandy) of Trenton, ON, two brother Walter Irvine of Saint John, NB and John Jones (Yvonne) of Fredericton, NB

Visitation will take place at McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home on Monday, May 7th,from 7-9 PM, and Tuesday, May 8th, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 9th, at 11:00 AM. Rev. Monte Peters will officiate. Interment will take place in St Anthony’s Cemetery. For those who wish memorial tributes made to the Alzheimer Society or charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Alda May Rector

The death of Alda May Rector occurred at the Pine Grove Nursing Home on Thursday, May 3. 2001. Born in Apple River, Nova Scotia, daughter of Harry and Loretta ((Rector) Corbin, wife on the late Oscar Rector.

Alda worked a number of years as a Switchboard operator at CFB Base Gagetown, and as a volunteer for ALANON in Oromocto. She was a very enthusiastic ceramic maker and worked in the exchange in Petawawa, ON Bell Canada as well as the exchange in Advocate Harbor, NS.

Predeceased by her parents, and husbands; Leo Canning, and Oscar Rector, three brothers; Delbert, Ivan, Sterling Owen, and stepson Kirk Rector, and one granddaughter, Tara Leigh.

Survived by, two sons; Ron Canning, of Fredericton, NB, and Jimmy Canning (Janet) of Waasis, NB, three daughters; Elaine Alexander, of Fredericton, NB, Teresa Jeffers, of Fredericton, NB, and Katherine Sellers, of Fredericton, NB, step children; Clinton Rector, and Pernell Rector, of Oromocto, NB, and Debbie Bourque, and seven grandchildren; David, Michael, Trisha, Ronnie, Michelle, Tanya, and Natalie, one great-granddaughter Ashley, and sister-in-law Stella Corbin, of Advocate Harbor, NS.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 5th, 2001 at McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home from 7-9 PM. Funeral Service will take place on Sunday, May 6th, at 2:00 PM, at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel. Rev. Paul Thompson will officiate. Interment will take place in Advocate Harbor Cemetery, Nova Scotia at a later date. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to The New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
