Ken Nicol is critic responsible for energy, economic development, and agriculture, food and rural development in the Liberal caucus of the Alberta Legislature. He was first elected to the legislature in 1993.
Mr. Nicol holds a B.Sc. (Agriculture) and an M.Sc. (Agriculture Economics) from the University of Alberta, and a Ph.D. (Economics) from Iowa State University. He is an associate professor of Agricultural Management at the University of Lethbridge; president of Nicol Management Services Ltd., director of the Centre for Aboriginal Management Education, advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture, Royal Thai Government, and a consultant to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Irrigated Farm Operation.
Past and present community involvement: Member of the City of Lethbridge Agriculture Committee,member of the Southern Alberta Water Management Committee, and a member of Lethbridge Big Brothers Association.
Born on May 3, 1944 and married to Linda; they have three children and four grandchildren.
