Mr. Dickson was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1994. He has a B.A. (History/Political Science) and an LL.B. from the University of Alberta. He has a family law practice in Calgary Buffalo and is the author of the Alberta Divorce Guide (8 Editions).
First elected to the Alberta Legislature in a by-election in 1992, Mr. Dickson is critic responsible for health, human rights and for freedom of information in the opposition caucus.
Mr. Dickson is co-founder of Calgary Legal Guidance, president of the Calgary John Howard Society, founding president of the Calgary Civil Liberties Association, president of the John Howard Society of Alberta, and chair of the Issues Committee of the John Howard Society of Canada. He is a recipient of the Community Service Award from the John Howard Society of Canada. Past president of the Alberta Liberal Party; president of the Crowchild Skating Club, and president of the Junior High Parent Advisory Council.
Born on April 30, 1948 and married to Arlene. They have one daughter.
