COMEAU, Phyllis Mary Ann
COMEAU, Phyllis Mary Ann - 68, 16 Kent Rd., Kentville, died May 29, 1998, peacefully at home following a brief illness. Born in Lunenburg, she was the youngest child of the late Capt. Colin David and Evelyn (Spearwater) Ritcey. Phyllis attended Lunenburg Academy, Edgehill School for Girls and Mount Allison University. Retired from Canada Post, Kentville office, she was an avid bridge player and a former member of Glooscap Curling Club. Survived by her daughters and their husbands, Pat and Barry Alexander, Windsor; Sally and Don Zwicker, Kentville; grandsons, Colin and Ryan Alexander, Nathan and Jeffrey Zwicker; sister, Evelyn (Harold) King, Toronto; several nieces and nephews; many dear friends. Predeceased by her husband Gregory (in 1992); brothers, Eugene, Fenwick and Charles; sister, Margaret. Visitation will be from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 8:15 p.m., both today in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Kentville. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, in St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, Rev. John Scott officiating. Cremation to follow. Donations in memory may be made to the Food Bank, VON or the charity of choice.

BUCHANAN, Murray Hubert
BUCHANAN, Murray Hubert - 87, West Head Road, Shelburne Co., died August 24, 1998, in Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point. Born in Lockeport, he was a son of the late John and Stacia (Huskins) Buchanan. Surviving are sons, Hubert, Ontario; Ivan, Lockeport; Lockie, West Head; daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Laverne Risser), Charleston, Mill Village; Eva (Mrs. Richard Weir), Jordan Falls; brother, John, Lockeport; sisters, Lillian Williams, Blanche Ryan, Viola Stuart, Lockeport; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Muriel MacDonald; brothers, Clayton, Ivan, Robbie, Lockie, Cyril, Edward; granddaughter, Wendy. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Thursday, both in H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Lockeport, Rev. David Elliot officiating. Burial in Harbour Light Pentecostal Cemetery, East Green Harbour. In lieu of flowers, donations to any charity.

MacINTYRE, John Alexander
MacINTYRE, John Alexander - 94, Halifax, died August 25, 1998, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late John G. and Marguerite (MacDougall) MacIntyre. He worked as a coal miner in Inverness and joined the Nova Scotia Provincial Police and from 1941-1967, he was a CNR policeman with the investigative department. He was one of the oldest members of St. Michael's Parish, Spryfield. Surviving are daughters, Barbara Candler, Helen (Mrs. Roland Frank), Marilyn (Mrs. Colin Lye), Marle, Margo; sons, Jack, Doug, Joe, Gordon, Donnie, Rick, Gerry, Micahel; 47 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Gladys Helen Kelly; daughter, Patsy Just; brothers, John Bernard, Danny, Alec-Joe; sisters, Betty, Mary, Sally, Sarah-Mae. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and Thursday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral 10 a.m. Friday in St. Michael's Church, Spryfield, Rev. Ronald Cairns officiating. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

SLADE, William Anthony
SLADE, William Anthony - 89, Musquodoboit Harbour, passed away peacefully August 24, 1998, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in North Salem, he was a son of the late William Henry and Myra Mae (Anthony) Slade. His first sailing ship was with Capt. Frank Baker, the Ella Pearl, then the John W. MacKay commercial cable, the CGS Stanley with Capt. Gilbert, the CGS Aranmore and The Moncalm. Capt. Slade served with the Dartmouth Ferry Commission starting May 23, 1941, and retiring after 35 years of service in 1974. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Dartmouth, and the Lodge of St. Mark 38, Halifax, earning his 50-year jewel. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Thelma F. Baker; son, William A. and wife Heather, Dartmouth; half-sister, Marjorie, Halifax; half-brother, Bill; Grace and Jeff; and also many nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. He was predeceased by sister, Myra; brother, Harry. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today in the family home. Masonic service will take place 3:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by burial, both in Brookside Cemetery, Shubenacadie, Rev. John Porter officiating, assisted by Rev. Doug Kellough. Reception to follow in the United Church Hall, Shubenacadie. Donations may be made to Brookside Cemetery or West Jeddore Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, Dartmouth.

MacDONALD, Wallace John
MacDONALD, Wallace John - 75, 91 Old Petty Harbour Rd., St. John's, Nfld., passed peacefully away at home on Tuesday, August 25, 1998. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; sons, Donald (Lorraine) and John, St. John's; Jamie (Marilyn), Dartmouth; daughter, Martha, St. John's; grandchildren, Andrew, Jarret and Reagan; sisters, Doris and Violet. Known as Wally to all his friends and loved ones, he spent countless hours of his youth hunting and fishing throughout the island of Cape Breton and continued his love for the outdoors well into his adult life. Wally was never without a story and entertained young and old alike with his colorful tales. We will truly miss you Wally and promise to keep your memory in our hearts. A private family service will be held in St. John's on Friday, August 28, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.

NOWE, Arnold Kenneth - 50, Omemee, Ont., formerly of Lake Centre, died August 24, 1998, in Civic Hospital, Peterborough, Ont. Born February 8, 1948, in Bridgewater, he was a son of Arlene (Baker) Nowe, Lake Centre, and the late George Murray Nowe. Surviving are his wife, the former Gabriel Vaney; sons, Ryan, Jason; daughter, Julie, all at home; brother, Murray Jr., Pleasantville; sisters, Joyce Lohnes, Rhodes Corner; Ethel Dearman, Beaver Bank; Barbara Pye, Wellington; nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Donations to his family.

CHISHOLM, T. Gerald
CHISHOLM, T. Gerald - 55, Ashdale, Antigonish Co., died Sunday, August 30, 1998, at home amid family and friends. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of Mary G. (Mary Tommy) (MacPherson) Chisholm, St. Andrews, and the late Thomas J. Chisholm. He graduated from the Nova Scotia Eastern Institute of Technology, Class of '71, with a certificate in electrical technology. He was employed for 21 years with Michelin Canada, Granton, as electrical technician and supervisor. He was a former member of the board of directors of St. Andrews Credit Union and a former member of St. Andrew's Parish Council. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph. He was active in softball and hockey and was an avid sports fan and hunter. Surviving are his wife, the former Cathy MacNeil; daughters, Patty, Michelle; son, Tommy, all at home; brothers, Kevin (Leslie), Scarborough, Ont.; Duncan (Gwen), Rocky Mountain House, Alta.; Tommy (Kathy Karpa), Calgary; Harold (Claire), Grande Cache, Alta.; Roddy (Erdine), Meadow Green, Antigonish Co.; Hugh James, North Grant, Antigonish Co.; sisters, Kathleen (John) Mac-Isaac, Antigonish; Maureen (Archie) Boyd, Frasers Mills, Antigonish Co.; Mary Eileen, St. Andrews; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by sister, Jessie Eileen; infant sister, Christina; infant brother, Joseph; nephew, Gregory Boyd. Visitation will be 2-5, 7-10 p.m. today in MacIsaac Funeral Home, Antigonish. Funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph, Rev. Daniel Boudreau, Rev. Daniel MacDonald and Rev. Hector MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations to St. Martha's Hospital in the Home, St. Martha's palliative care or the bone marrow transplant unit, VG Site, QEII.

EMBERLY, Anna Susan Grace
EMBERLY, Anna Susan Grace - 89, Halifax, died February 18, 2000, in Oakwood Terrace, Dartmouth. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late John. S. Parker (former mayor of the City of Halifax) and the late Anna (Hilchie) Parker. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her daughters, Julia (Mrs. K. Clark), Burlington, Hants Co.; Jackie (Mrs. A. Burgher), Midland, Ont.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Emberly whom she was married to for 63 years; brothers, Charlie; Alf and John. Funeral services were held, Canon David Boston officiated. Burial in St. John's Cemetery, Halifax. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross Society.

KELLY, Brian Patrick
KELLY, Brian Patrick - 46, Timberlea, died April 13, 1999, in the palliative care unit of the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Madeleine (Heenan) Kelly and the late Stanley Kelly. He was employed at Bolands Ltd. for 17 years and at the time of his illness, he worked for the Province of Nova Scotia, Inventory Control Warehouse. He enjoyed his family, bowling and fishing. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish, Timberlea. He is survived by his wife, the former Betty M. Roop; daughter, Cheryl and son, Morgan, both at home; sisters, Shannon (Mrs. Denis Kelly), Hubley; Lynn, Halifax; brothers, Christopher, Halifax; Cavan and wife Pauline, Whites Lake; Stephen and wife Joanne, Aurora, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Windsor Street, Halifax, from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral mass will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Timberlea. Brian's uncle, Rev. Gregory Heenan will officiate. A reception in the church hall will follow. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
