Don Kirkland
1936 - 2003

Kirkland, Donald “Don” - peacefully, with his family at his side, at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound on Sunday, September 21, 2003. Donald David Kirkland, of Hepworth, in his 68th year. Loving husband of the former Jean Richards. Cherished father of Terry and his wife, Joyce, of RR#3 Allenford; Larry and his wife, Karen Ann, of Owen Sound; and Lori and her husband, Gary Shipley, of Hepworth. Dear grandfather of Tyler, Kaley, Leah, Kara, Isaac, Connor, Quinn, Tessa, Melanie, Bradley and Brandon. Brother of Ray Kirkland (Shirley), of Sauble Beach. Sadly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law, and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, James and Elizabeth; a brother, Ralph; a sister, Jean Rodgers; and one daughter. Don was a long-standing member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Hepworth, the Allenford Curling Club, Grey Bruce Rod and Gun Club, Sauble Golf and Country Club, and the Wednesday Night Card Group. Friends may call at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach, on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Don's life will be conducted from the Zion Amabel United Church in Sauble Beach at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rev. Jack Fearnall will officiate. Interment in Zion cemetery , Hepworth. As an expression of sympathy, donations to St. Andrew’s United Church, Hepworth, the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Allenford Curling Club would be appreciated. A Red Maple tree will be planted at the funeral home in memory of Don.

Joe Kerr
1971 - 2003

Kerr, Joseph “Joe” - at his residence, on Sunday July 20, 2003. Joe Kerr of Guelph in his 33rd year. Loving husband of the former Debbie Brown. Cherished son of Pat Kerr and Brian McCarthy, of Elora; and Joe Karacsony (Trudy), of Ancaster. Special step-father to Darryl, Jimmy, and Charmaine, all of Guelph. Step-grandfather to Kiearha and Paige. Loving brother to Donna and her husband Jeff Kerr, of Guelph. Dear grandson of Rita Wonch, of Wiarton; Rose Karacsony, of Brantford; Marjorie McCarthy, of Guelph; and Patricia Walpole, of Owen Sound. Sadly missed by his niece and nephew, Aaron and Hailee Kerr. Friends may call at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held from the chapel of the Thomas C. Wray Ward
1936 - 2003

Ward, Wray - At Gateway Haven, Wiarton, on Friday, July 18, 2003. Orville Wray Ward, of Wiarton, in his 67th year. Loving son of Alvin and the late Hazel Ward, of Wiarton. Brother of Wayne and his wife Anne, of Wiarton, Ruth and her husband Milton Casemore, of Port Elgin, Grace and her husband Clayton Mackie, of Lion's Head, Norma and her husband Jack Campbell, of Wiarton, and Linda and her husband Larry Barfoot, of RR#1 Wiarton. Predeceased by his sister Jean. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (422-0041) on Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., where a funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Pastor Rob Slote officiating. Interment in Bayview cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Association would be greatly appreciated. A Red Oak tree will be planted at the funeral home in memory of Wray.

Ruby Sadler
1918 - 2003

Sadler, Ruby Hannah - Peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services Southampton on Tuesday, June 17, 2003. The former Ruby Malcolm, of Wiarton, in her 85th year. Treasured wife of the late James Sadler. Beloved mother of Shirley and her husband Glen Hodge, of Port Elgin; Myrtle and her husband, Ken Miller, of Dundas; Betty and her husband, John Miller, of Wiarton; Bob and his wife, Jill, of Kincardine; Bill and his wife, Jean, and Eunice and her husband, Carman Barfoot, all of Wiarton. Lovingly remembered by twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Sadly missed by seven sister-in-laws, and her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by four brothers, three sisters, one daughter and one grandchild. Friends may call at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041 on Wednesday, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Ruby’s life will be conducted from the chapel on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock with visiting one hour prior to service. Rev. Ed Laksmanis officiating. Interment Eastnor cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Wiarton Hospital, Southampton Care Centre or to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Frank Davis
1918 - 2003

Davis, Frank (Veteran of WWII - Member of the Forty-Eighth Highlanders) - peacefully at Golden Dawn Senior Citizen Home, in Lion's Head on Thursday, May 29, 2003. Frank George Davis, of RR#3 Owen Sound in his 85th year. Loving husband of the former Joan Robina Smith Davis. Cherished father of Ian and his wife Christine, of Owen Sound; Frankie, and Billy, both of Toronto; and Beth, of Churchill. Dear grandfather of Shayla, Brogan, Cador, Joey, Trent, and Michael. Predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Sarah Davis; three brothers and three sisters. Friends may call at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach on Monday, June 2 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Frank's life will be held in the chapel on Tuesday at 1 o'clock. Archdeacon Christopher Pratt will officiate. Cremation. Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 6 Owen Sound will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Monday evening at 7 o'clock. Marjorie Buckle
1924 - 2003

Buckle, Marjorie - of Fort Lauderdale, Fl., passed away May 3, 2003. Born July 3, 1924, in Toronto, Ontario. A resident of Fort Lauderdale since July 1979 coming from Syracuse, NY. Marjorie was the President of John W. Buckle and Associates Advertising Agency and Editor of Boulevard Publishing Company. She was a member of the first leadership classes in both Davie and Sunrise Chambers of Commerce, member of the Broward International Women's Club and Canadian Club of Broward County and former Public Relations Director for Greenleaf and Crosby Jewellers in which John was a partner. Marjorie won an award from the Rotary Club of Syracuse for her outstanding work in International Relations. Before moving to the U.S. in 1966, where her husband John was transferred, Marjorie was employed by the Toronto Star, Midland Star and Wm. Neilson Company (where she met John). Survived by John, her loving husband of 41 years; mother-in-law Marion Buckle, of Sauble Beach; brothers-in-law Ross Buckle, of Mississauga, and Don Buckle, of London; many nieces and nephews; maternal cousin Paul Wade (Bonnie), of Quispamsis, N.B.; and numerous friends. Friends may call at the THOMAS C. WHITCROFT FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL in Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041 on Saturday, May 10th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Loving husband of the former Doreen Merry. Father of Frank Haines (Shirley), and Kandis Smith, both of Kitchener; Bridget (Mrs. Rick McBrien), of Stoney Creek; and Peggie Lou Haines-Cowieson (Mrs. Keith Cowieson), of Waterloo. Step-father of Brian Merry (Barbara), and Scott Merry (Cheryl), both of Kitchener. Beloved grandfather of Mike, Geoff, David, Scott, Sarah (Mrs. Calvin Payne), Sam, and Landen; and step-grandfather of Brianne, Beverely and Bradley. Great-grandfather of Jacob Payne. Predeceased by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Sadly missed by former son-in-law Doug Smith; Ross and Jenny McCaw; Eileen Kalan; Alice Protitch; Buzz and Barbara Burland; Sue and Jim Askin; and all the girls and his exercise buddies at Stone Tree. Lourie, Margaret Ellen - at Lee Manor on Wednesday, April 16, 2003. The former Margaret Benedict of Owen Sound, in her 90th year. Loving wife of the late Mac Lourie. Cherished mother of Donald and his wife, Elsie, of Toronto; Sharon and her husband Tim Robertson, of Grand Bend; and Phil and his wife, Del, of Sauble Beach. Special grandma of Bradley, Dan, Brian, Tim, Steve, Lisa and Jen. She will be missed by her many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers, Gordon and Roy; and her sister, Clara. Friends may call at the Thomas C. Joy Cooper

Cooper, Joyce 'Joy' Lillian - peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound, with her family at her side, on Friday, November 14, 2003. The former Joyce Carroll of Pike Bay in her 74th year. Loving wife and best friend of 51 years to Doug. Cherished mother of Gary and his wife, Barbara , of Ingersoll. Much loved Nan of Sapphire Rose; and special Nan to many. Sister of Molly Tully, of Timberly, NS. Predeceased by her parents, John and Amelia Carroll; and her brothers John and George. Long-time walker with the Pike Bay 'Flutterbys'. A private family service has taken place at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041. Cremation. Friends will be invited to share in a Celebration of Joy's Life in the spring. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation, would be appreciated and can be made through the funeral home. Charlie Deakins
1934 - 2004

Deakins, Robert Charles “Charlie” - peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton, on Monday March 15, 2004. Charlie Deakins, of Welland, in his 69th year. Father of Robby and his friend, Cathy, of Orilla. Much loved brother of Jim and his wife Viney, of Sarawak; Norm and his wife Ruth, of Keppel Twp.; Emily and her husband Orville Tuffnell, and sister-in-law Isabel Deakins, all of Wiarton. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, and his good friend, Donna Shaver. Predeceased by his parents, Ross and Annie, and his brother, Gary. Charlie started sailing the Great Lakes when he was fifteen years old, and was a proud member of Seafarer’s International. Friends may call at the THOMAS C. WHITCROFT FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL in Sauble Beach on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Charlie's life will be conducted from the chapel on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Patty Armstrong officiating. Cremation with spring interment in Bayview cemetery.
