Harold Wright
1937 - 2004

Wright, Harold Douglas “Moon” - peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services Owen Sound on Thursday April 1, 2004. Harold Douglas Wright of RR#5 Wiarton in his 67th year. Father of Doug and his wife Patty, of Calgary; and Jerry and his wife Julie, of Collingwood. Grandfather of Amanda, Aleisha and Samuel. Survived by his brothers Ken and his wife Ruby, of Oxenden; and Herb and his wife Beulah, of Hepworth. Predeceased by his parents, Dalton and Ella; brothers, Ed, Bill and John; and his sister, Margaret. Sadly missed by his sister-in-laws, Diane, Anna Jane, and Flo; and his many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Harold's Life in the chapel of the THOMAS C. WHITCROFT FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041 on Saturday April 10, 2004 at 2 o'clock. As an expression of sympathy, donations to grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton would be appreciated. A Purple Lilac tree will be planted at the funeral home in memory of Harold.

Charlie Deakins
1934 - 2004

Deakins, Robert Charles “Charlie” - peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton, on Monday March 15, 2004. Charlie Deakins, of Welland, in his 69th year. Father of Robby and his friend, Cathy, of Orilla. Much loved brother of Jim and his wife Viney, of Sarawak; Norm and his wife Ruth, of Keppel Twp.; Emily and her husband Orville Tuffnell, and sister-in-law Isabel Deakins, all of Wiarton. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, and his good friend, Donna Shaver. Predeceased by his parents, Ross and Annie, and his brother, Gary. Charlie started sailing the Great Lakes when he was fifteen years old, and was a proud member of Seafarer’s International. Friends may call at the THOMAS C. WHITCROFT FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL in Sauble Beach on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Charlie's life will be conducted from the chapel on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Patty Armstrong officiating. Cremation with spring interment in Bayview cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Zion-Keppel United Church or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. An Ash tree will be planted at the funeral home in memory of Charlie.

Doris Plant
1921 - 2004

Plant, Doris Elaine - Peacefully with her family at her side at Summit Place, Owen Sound on Tuesday, February 10, 2004. Doris Plant (nee White) of Owen Sound, in her 84th year. Loving mother of Randall Plant and his wife, Maria, and June Lobsinger, and her husband, David, all of Sauble Beach; Ross Plant and his wife, Donna, of RR#3 Chatsworth; and Bill Plant, of Owen Sound. Cherished grandmother of Debra Clark (Joe), Rick Plant (Katie), Susan Cudd (John), Karen Quinn (Paul), Kathy Downing, Holly Plant, Mike Lobsinger (Sandy), Jeff Lobsinger (Michelle), and Tim Lobsinger; and great-grandmother of 10. She is survived by sisters Phyllis Plant, Laurel Tippen (Brock), Alice Morris, and Marilyn Flynn (Bob); and brother Clarke. Predeceased by her parents, Allen and Ella Myrtle White. Doris was devoted to family and her love of her children and grandchildren was so very great. At Doris' request, cremation has taken place. Family and friends will gather at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach, for a Memorial Service at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated and may be made through the funeral home (519) 422-0041. A Rose bush will be planted at the funeral home in memory of Doris.

Joan Davis
1927 - 2004

Davis, Joan - peacefully with her family at her side, at Grey Bruce Health Services Owen Sound on Sunday, February 1, 2004. The former Joan Robina Beacom, of RR#3 Owen Sound in her 78th year. Loving wife of the late Frank Davis. Cherished mother of Ian and his wife Christine, of Owen Sound. Dear grandmother of Shayla and Brogan. Survived by her brothers Sandy and Henry; and sisters, May, Christine, Gladys, and Frieda, all of Scotland. Predeceased by her parents; and two brothers, Tom and Robert. Friends may call at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach on Tuesday, February 3 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Joan's life will be held in the chapel on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Archdeacon Christopher Pratt officiating. Cremation to follow. Ewles, Douglas 'Doug' - Suddenly at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound, on Wednesday, January 28, 2004. Douglas Henry Ewles, of Sauble Beach, in his 72nd year. Loving husband of Rose (Scinocca). Dedicated step-father to Shawn Hewlett and his wife, Stephanie, of Orillia. Brother of Bob, and his wife, Thora, of Hamilton; Jack and his wife, Agnes, of Etobicoke; and Marion and her husband, Bob Dow, of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary. Doug was an important member of the Toronto Fire Department for 38 years, retiring as District Chief. Member of Cedar Lodge #396, Wiarton; both Scottish and York Rite masonry; Past President of the Ramocha Shrine, Owen Sound; member of 48th Highlanders; Life Member of Scottish Regiment; and member of Royal Canadian Legion Br. 586, Hepworth. Friends may call at the THOMAS C. WHITCROFT FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL in Sauble Beach on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Members of Royal Canadian Legion Br. 586, Hepworth will gather for a Legion service at 6:30 p.m. Members of Cedar Lodge #396 will gather at 6:45 p.m. for a Masonic service. A service will be conducted from the chapel on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Thence to Murray E. Newbigging Funeral Home, 733 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, where a service will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. Visiting two hours prior to service. Interment in Mount Hope cemetery , Toronto. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Princess Margaret Hospital, Shriner's Hospitals, or GBRHC Foundation (Oncology) would be appreciated. Loving husband of 58 years to the former Betty Hulbert. Cherished father of Frank, and his wife Elizabeth, of Guelph; Robert, and his wife Barbara, of Toronto; and Doreen, and her husband Phil Sharman, of Woodbridge. Loving grandfather of Micah, Lynden, Hilary, and Robert. Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Katharine; and his brother Gordon. A Celebration of Frank's life will be conducted from the chapel of the THOMAS C. WHITCROFT FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL in Sauble Beach on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Henry Sikkema officiating. Loving husband and best friend of 50 years to the former Betty Davenport. Cherished father of Larry, and his wife JoAnne, of Wiarton; Bob, and his wife Becky, of Hepworth; Cliff, and his wife, Susan, of Owen Sound; Daryl, and his partner Connie, and Paul, and his wife, Edith, both of Wiarton; Steve, and his wife Nancy, of Shallow Lake; Edsol, and his partner Nancy, of Calgary; Gladys, and her husband Wayne Cruickshank, of Hepworth; and Marlene, and her husband Kevin Stewart, of Fergus. Grandfather of Amber, Marshal, Jeremy, Jonah, Jesse, Cody, Matthew, Ashley, Danielle, James and Bobbie-Jo, John, Rachel, Ryan, Josh, Jessica, Nicole, Melissa, Katie, Beth, and Whitney. Great-grandfather of Chloe. Survived by his sisters Cymbeline Waite and Christine McDonald. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, John and Jean; his brothers Alexander, Jim, Archie, George, and Doug; and sisters Mary, Madeline, Elizabeth and Albertha. Gordon was dedicated to his family and farm. Cooper, Joyce 'Joy' Lillian - peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound, with her family at her side, on Friday, November 14, 2003. The former Joyce Carroll of Pike Bay in her 74th year. Loving wife and best friend of 51 years to Doug. Cherished mother of Gary and his wife, Barbara , of Ingersoll. Much loved Nan of Sapphire Rose; and special Nan to many. Sister of Molly Tully, of Timberly, NS. Predeceased by her parents, John and Amelia Carroll; and her brothers John and George. Long-time walker with the Pike Bay 'Flutterbys'. A private family service has taken place at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041. Cremation. Friends will be invited to share in a Celebration of Joy's Life in the spring. Doreen Haines
1932 - 2003

Haines, Doreen Rose passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Monday, October 27, 2003 at the age of 70 years. Beloved wife of the late Walter Haines who predeceased her in April 2003. Mother of Brian Merry and wife Barb and Scott Merry and wife Cheryl, all of Kitchener. Step-mother of Frank Haines and wife Shirley, and Kandis Smith, all of Kitchener, Bridget McBrien and husband Rick of Stoney Creek and Peggie Lou Haines-Cowieson and husband Keith of Waterloo. Grandmother of Brianne, Beverley and Brad. Nan to Mike, Geoff, David, Scott, Sarah (Mrs. Calvin Payne), Sam and Landen; Great-Nan of Jacob. Survived by sisters Verna and Eileen, and brothers Eldon and Clinton. Predeceased by her parents, William and Ann Hartung, brothers, Roy and Elmer, and sister Marj. Sadly missed by former son-in-law Doug Smith, as well as her many friends in Kitchener-Waterloo and Oliphant. Friends and relatives are invited to share their memories of Doreen at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, October 31, 2003, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The service to celebrate her life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at 4 p.m. Prior to internment in Oliphant, a Memorial Service will be held at Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home and Chapel on November 8, 2003 at 1 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Grand River Cancer Centre or St. Mary’s Regional Cardiac Care Centre would be appreciated. Thomas, Charles “Charlie” - after a courageous battle with cancer at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Tuesday, October 12, 2004. Charles Beverley Thomas of Wiarton in his 72nd year. Loving husband of 49 years to the former Audrey Hepburn. Cherished father of Doug and his wife Mavis, of Ripley; Bev and her husband Jim Boswell, of Midland; and John and his wife Nicole, of Owen Sound. Much loved grandpa of Courtney, Doug Jr., Meaghan, and Tyler. Brother of Les Thomas, Marg Peer, and Sadie McLeod, all of Wiarton. Sadly missed by his brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Gertrude, his brothers Ivan, Jim and Stan; and his sisters Nora, Win, and Dot. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Charlie's Life will be conducted from the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041 on Friday October 15th at 1:30 p.m. After the service, a tree will be planted in memory of Charlie in the funeral home meadow followed by a luncheon in the reception room. John James Shallcross
1923 - 2004

Shallcross - John James (WWII Veteran) Peacefully with his family at his side at Grey Bruce Health Services Owen Sound on Thursday, September 30, 2004. John James Shallcross of Shallow Lake in his 82nd year. Loving husband of 41years to Helen. Cherished father of Stuart and his wife Ruth, of Chatsworth; Kenneth and his wife Flora, of Cambridge; Hugh, of Shallow Lake; and Kathryn and her husband Douglas McMillan, of St. Catharines. “Greatest” grandfather of Stuart, Janna, Chris, Kelly, Jeremy, Allan, Daniel, Michael, and Madison. Great-grandfather of Mary, Tanya, Stanley, Cody, Katlyn and Aiden. Survived by his brother Albert and his wife Shirley, of Mississauga; sister Hilda and her husband Edward, of England; and sister-in-law Dot (wife of the late Ron Shallcross), of Nevada. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. John served with the British Service Corps. In WWII; was a Past-President and Life Member of Royal Canadian Legion Br. # 586 Hepworth; and Past-President of the Hepworth-Shallow Lake Rotary Club. At John’s request there will be no funeral service. Cremation. Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041.
