1931 - 2008

Kenneth “Ken” Jones – of Cape Croker suddenly at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Thursday, March 13th, 2008. Kenneth Hugh Jones at the age of 77 years. Cherished father of Shannon (Scott Fillo), of Cape Croker; Shawn Jones (Ashley Young), of Coquitland, BC; Linda-Ann Lancaster; Jonathan Jones, of Cape Croker; and Samantha Jones, of London. Beloved grandfather of Tianna, Taylor, Isiah, Matthew, Cassandra, Keith, Summer, Kadin, Corbin and Breanne. Devoted brother of Richard Jones (Verlyn Akiwenzie), and Ed Jones (late Audrey Johnston), both of Cape Croker; Gina (Danny Roach), of Buffalo, NY; and Trudy (Bill Syrette), of Toronto. Predeceased by a wife, the former Anita Drouillard; his parents Alfred and Rena Jones; and brothers Freddie Jones and Wayne Jones. Sadly missed by previous partner Nelda, and wife Suzelle; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family invite friends to join with them at the Maadookii Senior’s Centre, Cape Croker on Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm, and on Monday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm. A service to celebrate Ken’s life will be held at the Cape Croker Community Centre on Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment in Little Port Elgin Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas C. Marg Peer
1916 - 2008

Margaret “Marg” Peer – of Wiarton peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Thursday, March 13th, 2008. The former Margaret Roberta Thomas in her 92nd year. Loving mother of Murray (Irene), of Owen Sound; Keith (Sharon), of RR3 Owen Sound; Doreen (Bob McLuhan), of North Bay; and Norma (Joseph DeNoble), of Kitchener. Cherished grandmother of Mary Lou Hills, Ian Peer, Michele Meng, Dwight Peer, Leanne McAllister, Nancy Lalani, Keith Peer Jr., Shawn McLuhan, Jeffrey McLuhan, Paul McLuhan, Heidi McArthur, Melissa DeNoble and Nicole DeNoble. Great-grandmother of 22; and great-great-grandmother of 2. Devoted sister to Les Thomas, of Wiarton. Sadly missed by her sisters-in-law Joanne and Audrey; and her many nieces and nephews. Marg is predeceased by her husband Norman; four brothers; four sisters; and a great-grandchild, Adam. She will always be remembered for her quilting and knitting skills, and especially for her biscuits, butter tarts and home-made bread. Marg was a long time member of Bide-A-Wee, St. John’s United Church UCW, and the Limpert Lodge Seniors’ Club. Family invite friends to call at the Thomas C. Simon Koopman
1945 - 2008

Simon Koopman – of Wiarton, peacefully, with his loving wife Gail by his side at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Saturday, March 8th, 2008. Simon Quirinus Maria Koopman in his 63rd year. Devoted husband to the former Gail Kenyon. Cherished father of Ross and his fiancee Ashley Kakade, of Kitchener. Simon will be sadly missed by his brother Hilbert and his wife Diane, of Wingham; special aunt Reit and uncle Ernie Rossett and family; and his aunts and cousins in Canada and Holland. Predeceased by his parents Pieter (2005) and Jansje (2006). In keeping with Simon’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation with spring graveside service in Bayview Cemetery, Wiarton on Saturday, May 17th, 2008. Following interment family invite friends to join with them for the planting of a Beech tree in memory of Simon in the meadow of the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel. Lena Irvine
1914 - 2008

Lena Irvine - of Wiarton, peacefully at Gateway Haven on Monday, March 3rd, 2008. The former Lena Metler at the age of 93 years. Devoted wife of the late Richard “Dick” Irvine and the late Nyal Cook. Beloved and loving mother of Bob Cook (Mary), of Calgary; Paul Cook (Sandy), of Elora; Tom Cook (Cathy), of St. Thomas; and Marcy McGill (Bruce), of RR#2 Wiarton. Cherished grandmother of Geoff Cook (Joanne); Jenny Cook (Marek Crawford); Chris Cook (Nancy); Kevin Cook (Christine); Paul Cook (Camilla); Becky Cook; Andrew Cook (Leah Watson); Peter Cook; Brad Cook (Tammy); Bob McGill (Sara Salih); and David McGill. Forever loved by her 9 great-grandchildren. Lena will be missed by her sister Jean McPherson, of London. Predeceased by her parents William and Myrtle Metler (of St. Thomas); and brother William Metler. At Lena’s request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation with interment in Dunk’s Bay Cemetery. Edward “Ed” White
1918 - 2008

Edward “Ed” White – of Mar peacefully at Wiarton Hospital on Thursday February 14th, 2008. Edward Eric White at the age of 89 years. Loving husband of Shirley (nee Robinson) and the late Florence (nee Hill). Beloved father of Bob (Ruth), of Dowling; Stephen (Britt), of Mar; Neil (Joan), of Cargill; Ruth Ann Kuntz (and friend Mervin), of Drayton; Allan (Debbie), of Kemble; Kate White (Jim Dobbie), of Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta; Nancy White (Stewart Nutt), of Southampton; and Susan White (Kelly Wilson), of Calgary, Alberta. Special step-father of Carolyn (Tom Dalmus), of Anglewood; Gerald Lourie (Julie), of Collingwood; Richard Lourie (Loretta), of Sauble Beach; Stephen Lourie (Josephine), of Chatham; and Linda (Evan MacKinnon), of Guelph. Cherished grandpa of 32 and great-grandfather of 14. Forever missed by his sister Edith Stephens, of Wiarton. Ed is predeceased by his parents Henry and Josephine; brothers Mac, Ollie, and Arthur; sisters Emily and Connie. Ed loved his community, serving it through his tireless involvement with the Co-op Board, Hospital Board, School Board, and the Agricultural Society. He farmed at Mar for 34 years; owned and operated the Mar ESSO for 6 years; and managed the Tamarac Club. Family invite friends to join with them for visitation at the Thomas C. Robert “Bob” Tibor – of Oliphant, peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services Owen Sound on Tuesday, February 5th, 2008. Robert Joseph Tibor at the age of 70 years. Loving husband of Annette (nee Shearon). Cherished father of Bonnie Geauvreau, Brad (Lynne) Tibor, both of Windsor; Kim (Geoff Rocheleau)of Mt. Brydges; Michelle Tibor (Rob Groulx), of Sauble Beach; and Monica (Blair Tuck), of Windsor. Much loved grandfather to Teri-Lyn, Kristine, Jonathan, Gordie, Abbey, Jessica, Michael, Elizabeth, Jaqueline, Skye, Sadie, Brandon and Brittney. Brother of Irene Johnstone, of Windsor. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Elizabeth, and his sister Betty Burkoski. Brother-in-law of Dennis Burkoski, Vincent Shearon, Maureen McRae, and Sharon “Tootsie” Thrasher. Father-in-law of Rick Geauvreau. Best friend of Howard and Irene Barker. Bob will also be sadly missed by Pete and Jodi Mountain; Jay and Judy Jasper; Kevin and Annie Kaposy; Everett, Todd and Bill Arnold; Shirley Kowch; and Mike and Helen. “Mr. Fix-it” will be forever missed by his best buddy Brodie. Bob retired after 44 years from Windsor Tool and Die. Family invite friends to gather with them for a time of visitation at the Thomas C. Robert “Bobby” MacLean – of Purple Valley, peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Tuesday, January 29th, 2008. Robert Ian MacLean in his 69th year. Dear brother of Gwen and her husband Alphons Sanders, of MacTier; Les MacLean and partner Debra McConnell, of Kirkland Lake. Bobby will be sadly missed by his uncle Art King and his wife Margaret, of Sauble Falls; and his nieces, nephews and many friends. Predeceased by his parents Bob and Eleanor MacLean. George Hewitt – of RR#6 Wiarton, peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008. George Edward Hewitt in his 88th year. Loving husband of late former Sadie Graham Woodfield (November 14th, 2007). Cherished father of Charles and his wife Veronica of Nanaimo, BC, and Susan “Sue” and her husband Marcel Simard, of RR#6 Wiarton. Fondly remembered by five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister; three brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law. Predeceased by his parents Samuel and Lillian. Loving wife of the late Leslie Hutchison. Cherished mother of Bill and his wife Sandra, of Toronto; and Marian and her husband Norman Hawkins, of Oliphant. Grandmother of Laurie (Ray Gordon), Lynn (Mark Holmes), Sue (Gary Brown), Cathy (partner Tom White), Stephanie, Shannon (Ryan Lowe), Debbie Hawkins (partner Susie Baker), and Russell Hawkins (Elvira); and great-grandmother of thirteen. Predeceased by her parents Fred and Nellie Weeks. A Celebration of Ellen’s Life will be conducted from the chapel of the Thomas C. Audrey Crandon
1924 - 2007

Audrey Crandon – of Wiarton, peacefully with her loving family at her side at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Tuesday December 18th, 2007. The former Audrey Ward in her 83rd year. Loving mother of Ralph and his wife LaVerne, of Owen Sound; and Anne and her husband Ron Daykin, of Aylmer. Cherished grandmother of Tavia, Danica, and Mason. Sadly missed by a sister-in-law; aunt; cousins; nieces; nephews; and many friends. Predeceased by her husband Charles; parents Jim and Cassie Ward, sisters Viola and Gladys; and brother Ralph. Audrey was an amazing baker and cook. During WWII she worked for Fleet Aircraft in Fort Erie, doing her part for the war effort. Audrey was a longstanding member of the Colpoy’s Bay Women’s Institute; Unity Rebekah Lodge #147 Wiarton for 50 years; Royal Canadian Legion Br. 208 Wiarton for 48 years; and worked as a RPN for more than 17 years prior to retiring from Gateway Haven. At Audrey’s request there will be a private family service held in the chapel of the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041 on Friday, December 21st, 2007. Rev. Ed Laksmanis officiating. Interment in Colpoy’s Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, or Wiarton Hospital would be greatly appreciated. In living memory of Audrey a Purple Lilac tree will be planted in the funeral home meadow by the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel.
