At St. Joseph’s Hospital on Monday October 23, 2000. Violet Jane Sewell of Hamilton in her 58th year.

Beloved wife of the late Carmen Sewell (1998). Loving daughter of the late Gerard and Margaret Daigneault. Dear sister of Frank (Sharon) Daigneault of Hamilton. Also survived by numerous nephews.

Violet is at the DODSWORTH & BROWN Funeral Home ROBINSON CHAPEL (King St. East at Wellington) Hamilton (905)- 522-2496 where the family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service from the Chapel on Friday October 27, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. Cremation with interment to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

Peacefully at McMaster University Medical Centre on Wednesday November 1, 2000. Edward Frederick Bugg of Hamilton in his 83rd year.

Beloved husband of Joy Phyllis Bugg (nee: Cleverdon) of Hamilton. Loving father of Wayne and Marie Tippett of Hamilton, Robert and Mary Tippett of Cobourg, Sandra Meloshe of Hamilton and Bonnie and Alan Fair of Grimsby.

Dear grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of 7. Dear brother of Agnes Wilkinson of Cobourg.

At Mr. Bugg’s request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation with interment to follow at Lakeport Cemetery, Cobourg, Ontario at a later date. If so desired, Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Arturs Valters Tora
June 30, 1919 - November 10, 2000

Arturs Valters Tora was born on his father’s farm, Rankas pagasta, Latvia on June 30, 1919. He was one of five siblings. He worked on his father’s farm after graduating from Smiltenes Lauksaimnieciba School.

In 1944, he joined the Latvian Army as a First Aid Medic. In 1945, he was hospitalized in Hamburg and then moved to a British zone displaced persons camp where he met his wife Ieva Lazdins whom he married in 1947.

Arturs came to Canada in 1949 and began working at Dofasco Steel Co. in Hamilton, Ontario where he worked until he retired in 1982.

Arturs Tora built his own home in Hamilton. He had one son, Uldis Valters, who was born in 1953.

Arturs enjoyed fishing and gardening and in 1970 acquired land in Gandenville on Wellers Bay, which he and his family enjoyed. They cleared the land and built two cottages there. His wife Ieva died suddenly in 1988. Arturs continued to be active at gardening and cottage life.

He always has a big smile and will be sadly missed by Uldis, his wife Rita and his first grandchild expected in February 2001.

William 'Bill' Young
May 2, 1932 - November 12, 2000

On Sunday November 12, 2000 at the Hamilton General Hospital as the result of complications from surgery in his 69th year.

Predeceased by the love of his life Joan (1998). Dear father of Wendy and Terry. Grandfather of Sean, Justin and Katelyn. Also survived by his brother and friend Brian and his wife Cora. Dear Uncle of Kristine.

Bill was an avid musician who loved his music and continued to play piano after his retirement from the Hamilton Musician’s Union.
