Jonathan Brant Teuscher
January 22, 1974 - July 1, 2000

Funeral arrangements by Cattel Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home

At the McMaster Medical Centre, on Saturday, July 1, 2000, John Teuscher, in his 27th year.

Beloved son of Marilyn and Gerhart, dearly loved brother of Richard and his wife Martine. Sadly missed by many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.

John slipped away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the I.C. Unit, following a courageous struggle with lymphoma.

John, who graduated from Parkside High School and Carleton University, will be remembered by all who knew him for his cheerful personality, his outgoing friendliness, and his great love of nature.

A private family service was held on July 5th, followed by interment at Grove cemetery , Dundas, Ontario.

Special thanks to Dr. Leber and Dr. Marcaccio, Rev. O'Connor and the entire staff of the McMaster I.C.U. for their competent and compassionate care.

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a contribution to the John Teuscher Memorial Scholarship being established at Carleton University. Harold B. Jackson
February, 10, 1917 - May 13, 2000

We announce, with sorrow, that Harold Jackson, while surrounded by his devoted family, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Wentworth Lodge.

Harold was in his 84th year and he shared 58 of these wonderful years with his loving wife and dancing partner, Isabel (Bunny). His keen sense of humor and enthusiasm for life, nature and ice cream will live on in his children, Suzanne, Lynne and Allan and his grandchildren, Christopher, Alexandra, Margaret, Richard, Joanna, Andrea and Patrick.

Harold had a distinguished career in education as a teacher and principal in many Hamilton Schools. He was a Past Master of Acacia Lodge.

Friends are invited to share memories at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas on Tuesday May 16, 2000, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Our Service will be held on Wednesday May 17, in the Chapel at 2 p.m., followed by interment in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.

Special thanks to the kind staff of Wentworth Lodge’s, Maple Lane, where we made many special friends. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Geldart John Birkett F.I.I.C.
November 29, 1914 - June 14, 2000

Peacefully at Wentworth Lodge, Dundas, on June 14, 2000, in his 86th year.

Loving husband for almost 60 years to Gertrude (Brown). Proud father of John (Toronto), Judith May (Dundas), Paul (Vancouver), and Mary and Curtis Brisbois (Toronto). Beloved Poppa of Whitney and Ian May. Brother of Isobel (Victoria, B.C.) and the late Robert and Jean.

Involved for years with Lions Club eyesight programs, he also enjoyed time spent with the Insurance Institute of Canada and as a board member of Canterbury College, University of Windsor. Although little watercolour painting was done in latter years, he created an historical scroll for the city of Fort William, now in the Royal Archives, Windsor Castle. At Jack’s request, there will be no funeral of memorial service. His ashes will be interred later at Stayner Union cemetery.

We are all very grateful to the staff of Wentworth Lodge who loved and cared for Dad as a family member. Memorial Donations may be made in Jack’s name to the C.N.I.B.

Linda Crespo
November 20, 1936 - May 31, 2000

Suddenly at McMaster University Medical Centre on Wednesday, May 31, 2000 in her 64th year.

Beloved wife of Johnny. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Ralph and Grace, Carr and Sedge, Joey and Sandra, Alf and Ellen, Tess and James, especially by grandchildren Jonathan, Michael, Parker and Drew, nieces and nephews.

Linda is survived by her mother Isabel, her sisters Salve and Gertie, and her brother Edgardo and their loved ones.

Friends will be received by the family on Friday, June 2 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton and Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main St., Dundas. Funeral to St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Dundas, for Eucharist Liturgy Saturday, June 3 at 10:00 a.m. Interment White Chapel Memorial Gardens. A Prayer Service will be said in the Funeral Home on Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Lora Evelyn Hood
January 19, 1922 - October 14, 2000

Lora Evelyn Hood (nee Grant) at the McMaster University Medical Centre, on Saturday, October 14, 2000. Beloved wife of Arthur, in her 79th year. Dear mother of Jim and Carol, Dorothy Dyment and her friend, Harold Martell and Tom and Alison. Loving grandmother of 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Sister of Verna Reynolds, Betty and Jack Leyland and Doris and Steve Kokoski. Predeceased by her son-in-law, Don Dyment, her brothers Harold and Harvey and by her brother-in-law, Harry Reynolds.

Friends will be received by the family on Monday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where the Funeral Service will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock. Private interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Special thanks to the nursing staff on 3X at McMaster Hospital.

Eleanor Victoria Woodworth (nee Stokoe)
May 24, 1914 - November 13, 2000

Peacefully at the Dundas Retirement Place on Monday, November 13, 2000 in her 87th year.

Beloved wife of the late Lorenzo.

Loving mother of Ron and his wife Judy, Larry and his wife Diane, all of Dundas, Robert and his wife Lois of Hamilton and the late Brian.

Dear sister of Frances and her late husband Bert, Jim and his late wife Pat, John, Lillian and her husband Russ, Joan and her husband John, her sister-in-law Thelma and the late Bill.

Fondly remembered by many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Eleanor was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Ancaster.

Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton and Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where a Service for Eleanor will be held on Wednesday at 11 o’clock. Interment Whitebrick cemetery.

Jo-Ann Tena Burrows (nee Heslinga)
March 24, 1964 - February 7, 2001

At home with her family on Wednesday, February 7th, 2001, in her 37th year, of breast cancer.

Dearly beloved wife of John. Dear loving mommy of Daniel and Benjamin. Dear daughter of Tena and Andrew Heslinga of St. Thomas and daughter-in-law of Isabel Burrows and Jim Burrows of Ottawa. Dear sister of Fred (Ella), Donald (Gail) and Jack, sister-in-law of Jamie (Dawn) and Donald (Jo-Anne).

Jo-Ann was a warm and caring Registered Nurse at the Hamilton Regional Cancer Centre where, tragically, she also became a patient. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered for her tenacious courage and unfailing humour.

Friends will be received by the family on Friday afternoon and evening between the hours of 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Funeral at FIRST CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH OF HAMILTON, 181 Charlton Street, West on Saturday at 10 o’clock. Interment Grove cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy to the Wellwood Resource Centre, the Hamilton Regional Cancer Centre or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Klaus Hubert Pringsheim
May 23, 1923 - February 6, 2001

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of a dear husband, father and grandfather after a long illness on Tuesday February 6, 2001.

Born in Berlin, Germany, May 23, 1923, son of Klaus (a prominent musicologist in Germany and Japan) and Klara Koszler (ballerina), nephew of Thomas Mann, he was educated in England, and UCLA and Columbia Universities in the USA. Author, educator and columnist, a specialist on Japan and China, he taught at the University of Hong Kong, University of California, Berkeley and McMaster University. After his retirement, he was President of the Canada-Japan Trade Council. He was deeply interested in music, languages, literature, philosophy and politics.

He is survived by his loving wife Hsiuping (Kwok) and daughters Erika and Tanya and their husbands the beloved grandson Nikolaus, of California, daughter Tamara and her husband, of Montreal, and half-sister Maria of Munich, Germany.

Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where the Service and Committal will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Cremation to follow.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Mary Elizabeth Platinga
February 8, 1946 - October 16, 2001

Peacefully at Emmanuel House, Hamilton, on Tuesday, October 16, 2001. Beloved wife of Theodore Plantinga, in her 56th year. Dear mother of David, of Charlotte, North Carolina, of Elisabeth (deceased), of Michael and his wife Tamara and of Abigail Plantinga, all of Denver, Colorado. Loving daughter of Mrs. Clazine Masselink and the late Rev. Edward Masselink of Grand Rapids Michigan. Sister of Ellen Ward (deceased), Carolyn Wagner of Charlotte, North Carolina and Marge Calvert and her husband Charles of Santa Cruz, California.

Friends will be received by the family Friday, October 19 from 6-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. A private interment will take place at St. John’s cemetery , York.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Emmanuel House, 90 Stinson Street, Hamilton, L8N 1S2, would be appreciated by the family.
