At the Hamilton General Hospital, on Thursday, July 10, 2003, age 49 years. Beloved friend and companion of Frank Tassone. She will be sadly missed by family, friends, Gigi and her dearest granddaughter Zoe.

Visitation at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Sunday 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Anthony's Church on Monday, July 14, at 10:00 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven cemetery. Prayer Vigil Sunday 8:30 p.m.

Francesco "Frank" Filice

Passed suddenly, at his residence, with his wife Francesca by his side, at the age of 79, on June 7, 2003, in Hamilton, Ontario. He will be sadly missed by his sons Tony and his wife Biljana, Carlo, and Paul. Loving Nonno of Bianca and Dante. Will be fondly remembered by his sisters Verginia, Concetta, brother Carmine, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gervasi, and their families from Italy, brother-in-law Achille and sister-in-law Rachela Bennardo, sister-in-law Concetta and his late brother Antonio Filice and family, sister Angela and the late Eugenio Filice and their family from Vancouver, sister-in-law Elvira and the late brother-in-law Giuseppe Gervasi and family, all from Canada. Survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends from Canada and Italy. Francesco was a retired employee of 23 years from Stelco. Maria "Mama Maria" Protopopescu

On Monday, June 9, 2003 at her home, in her 87th year, Maria, surrounded by her loving family, very peacefully passed away. She had been the beloved and cherished wife of the late Ionel (July 31, 1960). Most devoted mother and mother-in-law of Nicu and Monica, Ionica and Mary-Ann, Marian and Monica, Marioara and Vasile Vasiu. Loving grandmother of Alina, Anda, Oco, Nicky, Elena, Alina, Marcus and Charles and loving great-grandmother of Jessica and Evan Alexander. Maria was known for her generosity in helping newcomers with the Salvation Army through Mr. and Mrs. Reid and was known as "Mama Maria". The family will receive friends at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 4-9 p.m. The Vigil Prayers will be on Wednesday at 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at Holy Resurrection Romanian Orthodox Church, 20 Murray St. W., on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodland cemetery. Following cemetery services, everyone is invited to gather at 1:30 at the Romanian Hall, 20 Murray St. W.

Sister of Francesco and Elisa, Vincenzo and Nina, and the late Suore Bianca, all of Italy. Survived by many nieces and nephews in Italy. Loving brother and brother-in-law of Sveldino, Maria, Camillo and Santa Pio, Vincenzo and Nicolina Lolli. Predeceased by brothers Martino, Giovanni, Casimirro, Giuseppe and sister Yolanda Coruzzi. Peacefully, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family, at the McMaster Medical Centre on Thursday, June 12, 2003, in his 62nd year. Beloved husband of Maria. Dear father of Josie Fitzgibbon and her husband Bob, Ignazio Faraci (Bridgette), Enza Silva and her husband James, Nino Faraci and his future wife Tina Haynes, Vito Faraci (Daniela). Adoring Nonno of Isabella Maria Silva. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Vito and Sara Faraci, Vitina and Baldassare Eterno, Tony and Caterina Faraci, Ignazia Faraci, Joe and Cristina Lombardo, Giovanna and Domenico Saccaro of Italy. Pietro will be sadly missed by his faithful companion Zena and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pietro was a longtime employee of Piersanti Plastering and a member of L.I.U.N.A. Local 837. Peacefully surrounded by her family at St. Peter's Hospital on Friday, May 23, 2003 in her 73rd year. Predeceased by her dear husband John. Very loving mother and mother-in-law to John and Nancy, Lorraine and Cam MacMillan, and Bob. Loving Grandma to Ryan, Sarah, Jennifer and Christopher. Sadly missed by her sister Clara and Michael Kristoff and brother-in-law Tony Serwatiak. Survived by one niece and three nephews.
