Albert Thair

It is with humble hearts we announce the passing of Albert (Bert) Thair on July 27, 2003 at Macassa Lodge in his 80th year. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the Lincoln and Welland Regiment. He later worked for the Robert Simpson Company in Toronto as a carpenter. He is predeceased by her wife Gladys (McIntosh/Rozel) Thair, parents Albert and Janet Thair, brothers Peter, Jack, Victor and sister Doris Hiscock. Bert leaves behind his stepdaughter Betty Sokell, Kim, Peter, Amanda and Jessica Leggett, Anthony, Tanya and Ben Sokell, Shawn Sokell, his stepson Doug Rozell and family, nieces, nephews and many friends and neighbours in the Listowel/Atwood area. His sense of humour, his gentleness, that twinkle in his eye and his unfailing gratitude will be remembered by all. Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Macassa Lodge for their loving and supportive care so generously provided. Cremation has taken place. A service of remembrance will be held at a later date. LaRocque, Angeline (nee Monforton)

98 years. Died peacefully on July 26, 2003, at the Holy Name of Mary Convent with her family by her side. Formerly of Villa Maria Rest Home. Beloved wife of the late Eugene J. (1980). Loving mother of Bishop Eugene P. (retired from the Cornwall Diocese) of River Canard, Dr. Raymond D. and wife Jeannette, Geraldine T. Malenfant and husband Russell, Bernard J. and wife Edna, all of Windsor, and Bernadette J. Morand and husband Reginald of Tecumseh. Dear grandmother of 24 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 6 brothers: Adolphe, Edmond, Louis, Taophile, Paul, Jean; and sisters: Claire Vermette and Sr. Claire Angeline (Elizabeth). Mrs. Larocque was a longstanding member of the C.W.L. In kindness, memorial donations may be made to the Missionary Society of your choice as an expression of sympathy.

Visiting on Monday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Janisse Bros-Marcotte Funeral Home, 1139 Ouellette Ave. (253-5225). C.W.L. Prayers on Monday at 3 p.m. and Parish Prayers on Monday at 7:30 p.m. PLEASE NOTE: Friends are requested to meet the family at St. Joseph’s Church (River Canard) on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 for further visitation after 9 a.m. until the hour of Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Bishop Eugene Larocque officiating. Interment Heavenly Rest cemetery.

A tree will be planted in memory of Angeline Larocque in the Janisse Bros-Marcotte Heritage Forest. A dedication service will be held on September 28, 2003. All are welcome.

Dear father of James (Nancy) of Dundas and Sandra Smith (William) of Hamilton and Jeanne Mailloux (Roly) of Parry Sound. Special grandfather to Kristopher, Amanda, Mathew, Dillon, Arianna and Netanya. Elmer will be sadly missed by many other family members.

Friends will be received by the family on Tuesday, July 29th from 7-9 p.m. at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main St, Dundas (catteleatonandchambers.ca) where the Service for Elmer will be held on Wednesday, July 30 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodland cemetery. Peter, beloved husband for 25 years of Jo-Ann (Fitzgerald). Loving father of Amada and Jamie. Loved son of Mrs. Joy Brierley and predeceased by his father Edwin “Hector” and his sister Penny Whitehouse. Dearly missed by mother in law Doreen Fitzgerald and the late Joseph Fitzgerald, sisters and brothers in law; Karen Abrams (Gary), Joyce Parks (Bruce), Jim Fitzgerald (Barb), Debbie Lewers (Billy), Colleen Monaghan (Jeff) and predeceased by brother in laws Paul Fitzgerald and John Abrams and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Township Chapel of the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Homes, 435 Davis Dr. (Waterloo Village) on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Liturgy of the Word Service, in Sacred Heart Church, Bedford on Monday July 28, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal with prayers in Sacred Heart Parish cemetery , Bedford. Much loved papa of Victoria and Elizabeth Mae. Dear brother of Kathy Hopf and her husband Dusty and uncle of Chris. Dear friend of Peggy and the late Russell Nutley and his godson Kevin and his family. Mr. Orme was past president of the Copetown Lions Club, Past Chairman of the Flower Show for the Royal Winter Fair. He was retired from the Hamilton-Wentworth Board of Education , where he taught at Briarwood and Parkview Secondary Schools. He graduated from the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture in 1960 and remained active on the Board of Directors. Ron remained very active as a volunteer in many aspects of the community and province. He was the co-owner of Whitley Flowers. Friends will be received by the family , on Monday, July 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 and 1 hour prior to service on Tuesday at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas,(catteleatonand chambers.ca) where the Service for Ron will be held Tuesday July 29 at 11AM. Rose Eileen Maloney (née Davis)
October 30, 1930 - July 23, 2003

passed away peacefully on July 23, 2003, at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Ont., from cancer. Born in Montreal on October 30, 1930, Rose was the wife of Owen for 46 years until his death on August 24, 1998. She leaves son Tom of Calgary, his wife Wendy and their children Ted and Shawn, son Mike of Orangeville and his children Erin, Kyle and Shannon; daughter Patti of Burlington, her husband Paul and their children Christine and Julie; and her sisters, Marjorie and her husband Tom Clark of Oliver, B.C., and Lillian and her husband Richard Lockwood of Roseburg, Ore. Each of the grandchildren were well schooled on points of spelling and grammar. While rearing her children in California, Quebec and Ontario, Rose volunteered tirelessly for Little League Baseball and figure skating. Donations may be sent to Animal Aid of Burlington or, in lieu of donations, have your children take their grandmother out to a ballgame. A family memorial will be held at a later date, with interment of ashes at Cote des Neiges cemetery in Montreal. The family expresses true appreciation for the respectful care given by Dr. Holmes, Dr. Knight, Ms. Clarkson and Rev. Dan.

Beloved wife of the Late Bill Davis (1979) and the Late Stan Johnston (1992). Loving grandmother of Greg and Tammy Smith, and great grandmother of Samantha-Anne Smith, Julie Smith, Stacy Smith and fiancée Tony Laureano and Sara Smith. Dear sister of Thelma (Drake), Ron, Don, Bruce and the Late Ralph (Marsh). Predeceased by her daughter Cecelia (1990) and son-in-law Gary Smith (1998).

Philip Durkin

Peacefully, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, July 22, 2003; beloved husband of Catherine (Rena); dear father of Tony and his wife Adrienne and Brian and his wife Ramona; much loved grandfather of Amy, Paul, Stacey and Jessica. Philip was a long time employee of Lawson Lumber.

Beloved husband for over 52 years to Bernadette (nee Larose). Loving father of Réjean and wife Evelyne, Francine and husband Denis Gagné, Richard and the late Ginette Fillion (1977), Alain and wife Linda, Christian and wife Maxine, Nicole and husband Réjean Fillion, Louis and wife Dianne, Daniele and husband Jack Wolters, Mario and wife Rennée. Dear grandfather to 28 grandchildren: Luc, Patrick (Heidi), Josceline (Mark), Michelle (Jason), Aline (Patrick), Cindy (David), Martin, Marc-André, Ginette (Jason), Robert (Tara), Jean-Paul (Cortney), Rebecca, Stephan, Chanelle, Ashley, Terra (Cory), Suzanne, Jacqueline, Brian, Cindy, Khristine, Stephanie, Pierre, Gabrielle, Jack Jr., Melanie, Zak, Brett; and 12 great-grandchildren: Sandra, Dérick, Nadia, Vanessa, Amelie, Tyler, Shelby, Rennée, Kerrington, Ireland, Trevor, Tristan. Survived by brother Elphege Brochu, sisters Pamela and Colette Brochu all of Montreal, and pre-deceased by 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Leo-Paul was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2775 4th Degree. Special thanks to T3 West at Windsor Regional Hospital ~ Western Campus; all the nurses, staff, Dr. Charmaine Jones, Lori Bachynski, Michele Fetterly, Anne Fletcher, and a special thanks to Renée Fillion for all his support.

Marentette Assembly with the presentation of the Chalice at 7:30 p.m. and Parish Prayers at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service from the Melady Funeral Home and Chapel, 572 Notre Dame Street (728-1500), on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. to St. Simon & St. Jude Church at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Peacefully at home in his 60th year. Loving husband of Flora, father of Vicky, and Grandfather of Sarah and David. Reg will be sadly missed and remembered with love.

He worked for IBM for 28 years and Celestic Inc. for 9 years. He enjoyed fishing, flying his plane and spending time on his boats with family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 5 from 12 noon until time of funeral service at 1 pm at the Highland Funeral Home, 3280 Sheppard Avenue East, west of Warden Avenue, Scarborough. Refreshments and food to follow in the Arbor Lounge at the funeral home. Private interment at a later date.
