MASON, Edna - Peacefully, at the Elliott, on Monday, September 30, 2002. Edna was born and raised in Sundridge, Ontario, the daughter of the late David and Laura Gibbon. Edna was married to the late George Mason for 46 years. They settled in Acton before moving to Guelph in 1952, where she centered her life around her husband and children. Beloved mother of son, Richard G. Mason, of Vancouver, B.C. and twin daughters, Jane A. Mackenzie and her husband John of Brewster, Mass. and Judy L. Mathus and her husband Gregory, of Concord, Mass. Devoted sister to her brother, Dr. George Gibbon of Englehart and sisters, Elsbeth Wearne of Perth, Australia, Jessie Hutchinson of Richmond Hill and Lillian McCleary of Mississauga. Also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Edna was beloved mother of the late Frank Mason and sister of the late Donald Gibbon and the late Mildred Beilby. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service at Harcourt Memorial United Church (87 Dean Avenue), on Friday, October 4, 2002 at 2 p.m. with a reception following at the church. A private burial will take place in Sundridge, Ontario. Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

DUBY, Kenneth - Of Guelph, passed away, at Guelph General Hospital, Tuesday, October 1, 2002, in his 67th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Donna (Johnson). Loving father of Michael and his wife Karen and daughter, Karen and partner Leslie. Proud grandpa of Alison, Jake and Josh Duby and Karysn and Brodie Buchner-Duby. Remembered by Chelsea and Erica. Dear brother of Alfred and his wife Doris, Lucy and her husband Leo Synnott, all of Acton and Margaret and her husband Gordon Cox of Rockwood. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Audrey Weist, Betty Hall and husband Andy, all of Guelph, Norma Weiss and husband Gerry of Kitchener and Alice Duby of Acton. He will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Alice Duby; brothers, Leslie and Earl Duby and a sister, Catherine Cotterill. Ken loved the simple pleasures in life and was best in the company of close family and his faithful dog, Sue. At Ken's request, a private family service will be held at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Friday, October 4, 2002, with the Rev. Laurie Duby officiating. Interment Woodlawn cemetery , Guelph. Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Kenneth Duby in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph, Arboretum. Dedication service Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at 2:30 p.m.

ESPLIN, John (Veteran of the Second World War) - Of Guelph, passed away, at Guelph General Hospital, Wednesday, October 2, 2002, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Margaret of Guelph, the late Mary and the late Kathleen. Loved father of Sylvia Neville of Kelowna, B.C. Loving grandfather of Lloyd Neville of Kelowna, B.C. Great-grandfather of Meagan Neville. Predeceased by his brothers, William and James. Friends will be received at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, today (Friday) (3-3:30 p.m.). Funeral service will be held, in the funeral home chapel, Friday, October 4, 2002 at 3:30 p.m., with Legion Padre, the Rev. Dr. Ronald C. Smeaton officiating. (Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre). Cremation with interment at Eden Mills cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. SEIFRIED, Albert Matthew - At his residence in Toronto, on Wednesday, September 2, 2002, in his 80th year. Beloved husband of the late Rita Irish (1998). Dear brother of Fred, Clarence and Joyce, Bill and Jean, Wilbert and Dorothy, all of Guelph, Eileen and Tony Pellezzari of Windsor, Marguerite and Ron Hulme of Georgetown, and the late Lloyd and Carl. Brother-in-law to Mary Seifried of Guelph. Son of the late Herbert and Christina. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Washington and Johnston Funeral Home, (717 Queen St. E., at Broadview Ave. in Toronto, 416-465-3577) on Monday, October 7, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. Friends will be received one house prior to service.

VICKERS, Margaret Sutherland - Of Walkerton, passed away, at South Bruce Grey Health Care, Walkerton, on Thursday, October 3, 2002. She was 87. Survived by her sons, Carden and his wife Ruth of RR 5, Mildmay and Douglas and his wife Judy of London, England. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Ian and wife Nancy, Bryan and wife Tracy, Sarah, Mark and Claire. She will also be missed by five great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband, Ramsey Carden Vickers and her parents, James and Mary Andrews (nee Sutherland). There will be no funeral home visitation. Graveside service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Walkerton cemetery , Walkerton. Memorial donations to the Walkerton and District Health Services Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy and may be made through the Tanner and Pearson Funeral Home, Walkerton (1-519-881-1273).

KARN, Dawn Marie - Of Guelph, passed away, at Guelph General Hospital, Wednesday, October 2, 2002, in her 44th year. Loved mother of Carmella Thompson and her husband Jeff Kopperson and Crystal Gray, all of Guelph. Beloved daughter of June Machen. Dear sister of Sherri (David) Henderson, Shannon (Art) Howell and Shawn Gray. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her daughter, Candace Karn. MUIR, Walter Drury - Peacefully, at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, Fergus, on Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, Walter D. Muir, formerly of RR 1, Fergus, in his 83rd year. Life member of the Melville United Church in Fergus. Beloved husband of the late Helen Muir (Anderson) for 59 years. Loving mother of Jean Muir of Woodstock, Jim of Guelph, Doreen Muir of Barrie and Karen and her husband Grant Smillie of Guelph. Walter will be missed by his grandchildren, Richard, David, Helena, Jessica, Tara and Philip and six great-grandchildren. Dear brother-in-law of Jean Muir of Parkhill, Margaret Hamilton of Elora and Dorothy Anderson of Elora. Walter is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and other family members. Predeceased by his grandson, Andrew; his brothers, Ken and Russell and sister-in-law, Nancy. The family will receive their friends at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home and Chapel, 280 St. David St. S., Fergus from 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Service will be held at the Melville United Church, 300 St. Andrew St. W., Fergus on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002 at 11 a.m. Followed by interment at the Belsyde cemetery in Fergus. O'HARA, Sadie - Peacefully, on October 3, 2002, 9:00 p.m. at South Bruce Grey Health Center, Chesley, Ontario, in her 87th year. Sadie was a dedicated member of the Catholic Women's League, and devoted wife of the late Darcy O'Hara. Predeceased by her brothers, Maurice and James Conroy, of Guelph. Survived by her adopted sons, Ronald O'Hara and wife of Hamilton, and Raymond Dibbley and wife of Burlington. Also survived by her brothers, Mike Conroy and wife Margaret of Mildmay; John Conroy, Guelph; Frank Conroy and wife Georgia, Guelph; Sister-in-law Marie Conroy, Guelph. Five nieces; Mary and Bridget Conroy, Las Vegas, U.S.A., Geraldine and husband Randy Ernest, Mildmay, Brenda and husband Mark Kupferschmidt, Guelph; Maureen and husband Ken McIlwrick, Sault Ste. Marie. Great Aunt to four nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at McFadden Funeral Home, Chesley, Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. He will be sadly missed by his 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Brother of Marytje Van Vliet, Nel and husband Tom Huurman all of Holland. Predeceased by a grandson, Michael Fagan; three brothers and two sisters. LOWE, Gerarda Mary "Shari" - Peacefully at home with her family on Saturday, October 5, 2002. Shari (Van Bussel) Lowe at the age of 42 years. Beloved wife for 20 years of Roger Lowe. Loving mother of Nichole and Jeffrey. Loved daughter of Gerry and Wilma Van Bussel of Ilderton; daughter-in-law of Arthur and Phyllis Lowe of Picton. Loving sister of Connie Van Bussel (Robert Benner) of Lucan. Dear sister-in-law of Michael Lowe (Sue Toth) of Toronto, Gary Lowe (Laine) of B.C., Thomas Lowe (Sandra) of Picton, Judy Peters (Curt) of Vineland, Paul Lowe (Lynn) of Orangeville and Sandra Lowe of Toronto. Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Shari was an Occupational Therapist of Chedoke-McMaster, a member of the Breaststrokes Dragon Boat Team, Past-President of the Puslinch Soccer Club and a valued member of her community through her many volunteer activities. LOGAN, Jean - At the Hotel Dieu Hospital, on Saturday, October 5, 2002 in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late "Milt" Elmer Logan; dear mother of Enid and her husband George Lawrence of Guelph; mother-in-law of Domenic Tassillo and sister-in-law of Clara Newton and Violet Turner. Also survived by 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Best friend and neighbour of Henry and Irene Sikkens of St. Catharines. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter, Norma Jean Tassillo and her son, Howard (Bud) and his wife Iris Logan and her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Turner and Charles "Chic" Turner. Mrs. Logan is at the Downtown Chapel of Butler Funeral Home, 33 Duke St., St. Catharines where the family will receive friends today (Monday) from 7-9 p.. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at 2 p.m. Interment Victoria Lawn cemetery.
