PEPIN, Guy Laureat

PEPIN, Guy Laureat In loving memory of Guy Laureat Pepin, 71 years, who passed away Monday afternoon, August 18th, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site.

Beloved husband of Leonne (Dumont) Pepin of Cartier. Loving father of Gilles (wife Joy) of Cartier, Liliane (husband Gary Scott) of Chapleau and Lise (friend Charles Bertrand) of Chelmsford.

Cherished grandfather of Giselle, Robert, Serena, Julia, Michale and great-grandson Tyson.

Dear son of Luc and Alice Pepin both predeceased.

Dear brother of Fernand (wife Yvette) of Vermont, Benoit (wife Yvonne) of Hanmer, Madeleine (husband Camil), Hubert (wife Hugette), Andre (wife Nicole predeceased) and Laurette (husband Robert) all of Quebec, predeceased by Rose (husband Leo) and Jean Paul.

Sadly missed by his canine pals Buffy, Brindle and Milo (predeceased).

Resting at the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, 252 Regent St. at Hazel St. Funeral Mass in St. Francois-Xavier Church, Cartier, Thursday, August 21st, 2003 at 11 a.m.

Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.

Donations to Northern Cancer Research Fund would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-5; 7-9 p.m. Wednesday).

RATCLIFF, Douglas Paul "Rats"

RATCLIFF, Douglas Paul "Rats" In loving memory of Douglas Paul "Rats" Ratcliff, 50 years, who passed away Thursday morning, August 14th, 2003 at the Elizabeth Centre, Val Caron, following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness.

Douglas Paul "Rats" Ratcliff was born in Braceridge, Ontario and lived all his life in the Capreol/Hanmer areas.

He worked at C.N.R. retiring early due to his failing health.

Rats was a well known Capreol resident and played hockey for several Capreol leagues in his youth.

Though he was a quiet man, he was an avid Montreal Canadian Fan and often times a "traiilor" Fan to the Toronto Maple Leaf Team.

He enjoyed watching movies, his favorites being old John Wayne "The Duke" movies.

He was devoted to his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren.

He will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Beloved husband of Annette (Ferguson) Ratcliff of Hanmer.

Loving father of Amber Ratcliff of Capreol, Brandi Ratcliff (fiancé Shawn) of Cambridge and step-son Timothy Ranger of Hanmer.

Proud grandfather of Nathan Ratcliff, Jessica Ranger, Danina Ranger, Chase and Hailey Wonch and Emilena Ratcliff. Son of Conway and Doreen (nee Krueger) Ratcliff both predeceased.

Dear brother of Brenda (husband Ron Wiggins) of Florida and brother-in-law of Carmen Chaput (husband Maurice) of Hanmer, Clarence Lajambe (wife Judy) of Hanmer, Richard Laplante (wife Karen) of Sudbury and Roger Hachey (wife Doris) of Sudbury.

Uncle to several nieces and nephews and special uncle and friend to Rachel, Jean-Paul and Robert.

Will be sadly missed by good family friend Trevor Martel and by his faithful canine friend Barney.

Memorial Funeral Service in the LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, HANMER/CAPREOL CHAPEL, 4605 Michelle Dr. at Hwy 69 N, Hanmer, Thursday, August 21st, 2003 at 7 p.m. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium, Sudbury.

Donations to the Liver Foundation would be appreciated. (Friends may call after 6:45 p.m. Thursday).

RESCORLA, Brian Gordon

RESCORLA, Brian Gordon Brian Gordon Rescorla, 56, died August 20, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site.

He was born March 31, 1947, in South Porcupine General Hospital to Howard "Rusty" and Gurney Rescorla and grew up in Schumacher and Timmins.

A graduate of Timmins High and Vocational School, he later attended Brigham Young University.

On September 4, 1969, Brian married Donna Peterson in Mesa, Ariz.

He was predeceased by his mother Gurney in 1990, his father Rusty in 1998 and his son Matthew Brian in 1976.

He is survived by his son Christopher Gordon of Montreal, his daughter Maren Elizabeth (Shawn) Hanson and his beloved grandson Ryder Heath Hanson, all of Sudbury, and his wife Donna of Snowflake, Ariz.

He was a resident of Sudbury for the past 3 years and had lived in Timmins for the previous 19 years.

Funeral Visitation at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St. on Thursday, August 28th, 2003 from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment in the Civic cemetery on Friday at 1 p.m.

SCHMIDT, Gaye Laura

SCHMIDT, Gaye Laura In loving memory of Gaye Laura Schmidt, 56 years, who passed away Friday evening, August 15th, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Memorial Site, surrounded by her family.

Born in Kitchener, she graduated from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1969, she furthered her education with a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Education.

Gaye was a wonderful teacher at Cambrian College since 1976.

She was an active member of the Beta Sign Phi (Laureate Beta Gamma Chapter) for many years.

She had a passion for dancing, country music and painting Folk Art Painted-Paws.

She was an avid supporter of the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra.

Gaye enjoyed gardening, flowers and fishing.

The center of her life was her family and she especially loved her nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Drs. Ravi, Hortevenko, Shoemaker and Marti, the Cardiac Rehab Centre and the nurses at the Memorial Site C.C.A. Unit, especially the kind care of former students.

Beloved wife of Ken Sikio of Sudbury.

Loving daughter of Floyd Schmidt predeceased and Cecile (husband Don Scott) of Sudbury.

Cherished sister of Joan (husband Bruce Kutchaw) and Floyd B. Schmidt (wife Debbie) both of Sudbury.

Special aunt of James, Cindy, Curtis and Stacy.

Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Tuesday, August 19th, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. Interment in the Civic cemetery.

Memorial Service will be held Monday at 7:30 p.m. under the auspices of Beta Sign Phi.

Donations to the Sudbury Diabetic Association or Kiwanis Music Festival would be appreciate. (Friends may call 2-5; 7-9 p.m. Monday or after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday).

SKRABA, John

SKRABA, John In loving memory of John Skraba, 85 years, who passed away Sunday morning, August 17th, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre.

Born in Swan Plain, Saskatchewan he married Rose in Sudbury 60 years ago.

They lived as a team and their love and devotion defined a wonderful marriage. John was a Miner at INCO for over 30 years, retiring in 1983.

He was an active and dedicated member of the Church of Epiphany, often referred to as an honourary A.C.W. for his legendary coffee and tea making skills.

Rose and he were well known "angels" of Square Dancing helping start many new clubs.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed carpentry. John will be remembered as a good living, strong man who shared his love with all, especially his beloved grandchildren.

Beloved husband of Rose (Konopaski) Skraba of Sudbury. Loving father of Angey Sabourin of Sudbury and Ric (wife Claudette) of London. Cherished grandfather of Jenny, Sheila, Paula (husband Jeff), Carrie, Shannon, David, Chrissy, Penny, great-grandchildren, Samantha, Rory, Charline, Nicholas and great-great grandchildren Dylan and Monikah. Dear son of Nick and Mary Skraba both predeceased. Dear brother of Nellie, Vera, Hazel, predeceased by Steve, Nick, Mat, Bill, Annie and Kay.

THIBEAULT, Lionel In loving memory of Lionel Thibeault, 78 years, who passed away Friday evening, August 15th, 2003 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site.

Beloved husband of Julie (Kurylo) Thibeault of Sudbury. Loving father of Gisele (husband Gary Slobodian) of Sudbury. Cherished grandfather of Amy and Nancy. Dear son of Philippe and Philomene (Tremblay) Thibeault both predeceased.

Very dear brother of Andre (wife Permilia predeceased) of St. Charles, Emma (husband Antoine St Louis predeceased) and Aline (husband Victor Dupuis predeceased) both of Sudbury, Arthur predeceased, Jeanne (husband Jean Clermont) of London, Simone (husband Paul Tetreault predeceased) and Cecile (husband Henri Marion) both of Warren, Jean-Paul (wife Helen) of Mission, B.C., Lucien predeceased (wife Carmelle predeceased), Julienne predeceased (husband Gordon Phillips), Laurent predeceased (wife Emillie), Blanche predeceased and Madeleine (husband Jerry Huot predeceased) all of Sudbury, Bernard, Bernadette and Lorraine all predeceased, Annette (husband Oscar Lacasse predeceased) of Windsor and Francois (wife Anita) of Sudbury. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Born in Warren, he worked as a Miner at INCO for 34 years, retiring in 1984.

He enjoyed spending time at his camp on Lake Nipissing.

The family wish to thank the nurses and staff at 8th Floor Laurentian for their care and compassion.

At Lionel's request there will be no public visitation or service. Cremation. Donations to Sudbury Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
