TOPHAM, Eileen Florence (nee Garrett) – Entered into rest at Extendicare, Port Hope on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of William “Bill” Topham. Loving mother of Susan Ford White (Lloyd Ford) and Robin Cliffe (Robert). Devoted grandmother of Joanna (Big Joe), Jay, Adam, Sarah (David), Dave (Lindsey), Becky (Elton) and Mark (Shannon). Dear great grandmother of four. Also remembered by Don White. Predeceased by her parents Herbert and Lily Isobel (nee Gower) Garrett and sister Vivian Wilson. Friends will be received at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 200 King St. W., Cobourg on Thursday, May 20th from 1 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 2 pm. Rae, Alexander Warren, P.Eng., (WWII Veteran) - Peacefully at Extendicare in Port Hope on Sunday, May 9th, 2010, Alex Rae at 89 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Channez Rae (nee Algie). Cherished father of Susan Sykes (Jon), Cathy Rae (Pat Paszt), and Nancy Rae-White (Tim White). Devoted grandfather of Ian (Marion), Eric, Caitlin (Bryan), Alex (Janelle), Rebecca (Tom), Andrew, Madison, Graham, Cameron, and Jillian. Dear brother of Jessie (the late Blair) and Milton (Jeanette). Predeceased by his siblings James (the late Helen), and Hugh (the late Lorna). Also missed by his other family members and many close friends. A Memorial Service will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. on Wednesday, May 12th, at 2 pm with reception to follow. Members of the R.C.L. Branch #133 will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:45 pm for a Legion walk through immediately prior to the memorial service. EICHLER, Lotti – Passed quietly at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 9, 2010. Lotti will be sadly missed by husband Werner, daughters Diana Laporta (Angelo) and Shirley Eichler-Matts (John), grandchildren Robyn, Brandon and Alex, step-grandchildren Jennifer and Eilene, great grandson Maxwell and brother Helmut. Predeceased by her son Ralph, sister Edith and brother Fritz. A reception to remember Lotti’s life will be held at the family home, 695 Gummow Ct., Cobourg on Saturday, May 15th from 2-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation through the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, Cobourg (905-372-5132).

Loving mother to her daughter’s Bev McArthur (Gary Simpson), Judy Campney and Carroll Brooks (Dave Perry). Dear grandmother to Jason, Eric, Sara and Holly. Great grandmother to Noah McArthur. Marion will be deeply missed by her brother Charlie (Brenda), sister Ina Craig (late Bert) and her special sister Bonnie Allison (Jim). Predeceased by her brothers John (Sally), William (Arlene), and Les (Linda). Marion will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and close friends. Mary was predeceased by her husband John C. Buckley. Mary is survived by her children Patricia Gardella (James), John Buckley (Geraldine) and Mary Jane McLaren (James); her grandchildren David and Daniel Gardella, Brian and Brenda Buckley; her step grandchildren Leah and Meghan McLaren and her great grandson Jonathan Buckley. Mary is predeceased by her brothers Frank, Nicholas, Martin, Michael, Tony, Peter and sisters Josephine Kupnicki (Jessie) and Victoria Brackenbury. Friends may call at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E., Cobourg on Thursday, May 6th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church (Division St. and University Ave., Cobourg) on Friday, May 7th at 1:30 pm. Ballard, John A. R.C.A.F. WWII Ret’d TD Bank mgr. Cobourg passed away peacefully on April 30, 2010 at Palisade Gardens Retirement Home at the age of 89. Predeceased by his wife Margaret (2008), sister Doris Clark, brother-in-law Harry Clark, and sister-in-law Sheila Nelson. Survived by his daughters Barbara Nordhoff (Hardy) of Richmond, BC, Janice Wiseman of Dartmouth, NS, grandsons John (Jill), of Ottawa, ON, Steve of Montreal, QC, sister-in-law Dorothy Oram (John) of Oakville, ON and several nieces and nephews. The family thanks friends and neighbours for many acts of kindness, especially Lynn, Tom and Peggy. They thank Palisade Gardens, particularly Micki, Brenda and the caring staff for all their help. The family also thanks CCAC, Red Cross (particularly Edith) and Veteran Affairs for their help and guidance. John will be missed by friends at Dalewood Golf Club where he was an active member for many years. A visitation will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. East, Cobourg on Thursday, May 6th at 1:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, the Lung Association, the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.

Ellah, Jean Nellie (nee Down) - Surrounded by family on April 28th 2010 at Northumberland Hills Hospital in her 79th year. Beloved wife of Russell G. Ellah and the late Howard VanSlyke. Loving mother to Fred (Carol), Gerald (Sharon), Dan, Larry (Beverly), Brian, Barry (Nicole) and the late Marcellus. Step-mother to Kevin Ellah, Garry Ellah, Randy Ellah, Darren Ellah, Donna and Deanna. Grandmother to 9 grandchildren, 5 predeceased grandchildren, and 7 step-grandchildren. Will be fondly remembered by many great and great-great grandchildren. Sister of Betty, Mary, Dorothy, Gail, Robert and the late Jack and Helen. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses on Monday, May 3rd 2010 at 3 p.m. If desired donations may be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

Cherished aunt of her nephew Bradley, her niece Deanna and her great-nephew Jacob. Dear daughter of the late Margaret Carr (Whitfield) and the late Lloyd Carr. She will be sadly missed by good friend Janet Irvine and her family. A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Sunday April 25, 2010 at the Grafton Legion Hall on Highway 2 from 2-6 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 580 would be appreciated.

Gwendoline L. (Wendy) Nelson
October 2, 1918 - March 30, 2010

Nelson, Gwendoline Lucia (Wendy) - Surrounded by the love of her family, Wendy passed away peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital on March 30 at the age of 91. She will live on in the hearts of her children Richard (Joanne), John (Carolyn) and Elizabeth (David), granddaughter Lynda and great-grandson Devon, as she now joins her beloved husband of 50 years, Gordon, who passed away in 1995. Born the youngest of four daughters of Col. Arthur Willoughby-Osborne, a British Officer serving in India and Ethel Chancellor, a British nurse. While serving in Belgium during WWII as an officer in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) she met and married Gordon, an officer in the Canadian army. She immigrated to Canada in 1946. Wendy leaves a legacy of love and laughter with every one who knew her. A service for Wendy will be held at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E., Cobourg on Monday, April 5th at 2 p.m. Following cremation, entombment at Union cemetery , Cobourg at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, April 4th from 7 – 9 p.m. Donation in memory of Wendy can be made to the Alzheimer Society.

ROBERTS, Sydney Tennison – Peacefully at the Golden Plough Lodge, Cobourg on Monday March 29th, 2010 in his 97th year. Beloved husband and friend of Alice (nee Matthews). Loving father of Bob (Lorraine), Shirley Rowden (Wayne), Sharon, Bev Ablett (Tom), Elaine, Bernice, Ken (Heather), Patricia Tidd (Andy), Darlene Lammers (John), Jan Wakely (Jeff), Dorothy and Brenda Kloostra (Jim). Dear grandfather of 22 grandchildren, pre-deceased by Ryan Wakely. Great grandfather of 11 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his brothers Stan, Frank and Robert (Bob). Sydney will also be missed by his nieces, and friends at the Golden Plough Lodge. A Memorial Service will be held at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St., E., Cobourg on Thursday April 1st, 2010 at 3 p.m. with visitation from 1 – 3 p.m. A private graveside service will take place at Lakeport cemetery on Friday April 2nd, 2010.
