March 16, 1916 - April 15, 2009

HALL, Mabel Irene (nee Wilson) – A resident of the Golden Plough Lodge, Cobourg, formerly Legion Village and a long time resident of Harwood, Rice Lake at the age of 93. Daughter of the late Ethel and Bill Wilson. Predeceased by husband Lloyd Hall, brother Laverne Wilson, sister Hazel Wheeler and special friend Bill Adams. Sister of Stan Wilson of Oshawa. Devoted mother of Carole Hall of Toronto and Gail Hall of St. Walburg, Saskatchewan. Loving grandmother of Donna Lee Doran of Saskatchewan and Morgan and Taylor Hall of Toronto. A visitation Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 18th from 2-4 p.m. at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E., Cobourg. Mabel was a very hard working woman and a very fun person who embraced life fully. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Hawaii and St. Maarten and many other destinations. She was a very creative person and has left many needlepoints and beautiful hand quilted blankets in this world. Mabel loved to dance and dress up at Halloween. She aimed to live life fully, love much and laugh often. We would like to thank Ghel Jarvis and staff at Home Care Services and Pat Wellwood for their 10 years of loving care. Many thanks to the caring staff at the Golden Plough Lodge. Those wishing may make donations to the Alzheimer Society.

Loving mother of Melanie Sine (Larry), Stephanie Clifford (Chris), Allyson Chapman (Richard), Breck Chapman (Christa) and Fiona Chapman (Shawn). Dear grandmother of Tyler and Morgan Barrett and Colin and Ava Clifford. Sister of Cheryl Westall (Garth). ARMSTRONG, Joseph Franklin “Joe” Suddenly as the result of a motor vehicle accident on Friday April 10th, 2009. Beloved son of the late James Armstrong and Dorothy Lynn Beatty. Loving partner of Laurie Mahaney. Dear father of Sydney Armstrong and Chase Petersen. Brother of Becky Williams, Kevin Armstrong and Jack Armstrong (Vikki). Son-in-law of Brian and Heather Mahaney. March 16, 1948 - April 8, 2009

SARIS, Pieter “Peter” - passed away at Northumberland Hills Hospital Cobourg on Wednesday April 8th, 2009 in his 62nd year. Dear brother of Chris Camp (Aylmer), Paige Mills (Martin), of Winnipeg Manitoba and Nick (Mary) Saris of St. Thomas. Also survived by close friend David Reid, and several nieces and nephews. Pieter was born in the Netherlands March 16th, 1948 to the late Pieter and Margaret Saris. He will be missed by his many friends and relatives back home. A celebration of Pieters life will be held at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E., Cobourg, on Wednesday April 15th, at -3pm. Friends may visit from 2pm till time of service. A private graveside service will be taking place in St. Thomas at a later date. Those wishing may make donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Father of Anne Fullerton (Mark Pritzker), John Fullerton (Carol Robertson), Jane Fullerton (Daniel Meyerhans), and Juliet Fullerton (John Morand). Grandfather of Jennifer Fullerton (John McLean), Michael Fullerton, Kate Fearnall, Andrea Fearnall and Sarah Meyerhans. Loving godfather of Carol O’Neill. Brother of Sydney Harrison, and the late Dick Fullerton (the late Carol). Brother-in-law of Juliet Harrison (the late Karl Renner) and Michael Harrison (Helena Langer). Cousin of David Dick. Born in Toronto on February 9, 1921 to Henry Fullerton and Muriel Fullerton (nee Dick). He later served in the Royal Canadian Artillery in Labrador and Canada in WWII. Educated at Lakefield College School and Ridley College School and later at Queen’s, McGill and Sir George Williams Universities. Joined his grandfather’s firm, Cobourg Matting and Carpet Co. Taught science and mathematics in Trenton and Port Hope high schools. Former Councillor for the Town of Cobourg. Director of the Cobourg Y and The Children’s Aid Society. Commanding Officer 14th Field Battery Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps. Member of the RCMI, Toronto and DKE fraternity. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church (corner of College St. and King St. E. in Cobourg) on Thursday, April 9 at 2 p.m. Interment at a later date at the Heritage Cemetery of St. Peter in Cobourg. Those wishing may make a donation in memory of Jim to St. Peter’s Anglican Church or the James Fullerton Prize, Lakefield College School.

Clark, Evelyn (nee Clapperton) Passed away peacefully on Thursday April 2nd 2009 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of Archie for 68 years, loving mother of the late Lorraine Clark, Janice Duguay and her husband Bryan, Elizabeth Check and her husband Doug, Sister to Gladys Kilbank of Brighton and the late Ross Clapperton of Cobourg. She is lovingly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Kyle, Adam and Leah, Jeremy, Karen, Steven, and Joanna and by her two great grandchildren Michael and Toby. Evelyn and Archie have been living in Waterloo for the past two and a half years and she will be fondly remembered by many former friends and neighbours in Cobourg. Family and friends are welcome to attend a funeral service on Thursday April 9th at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street E. in Cobourg, at 2:00pm followed by a reception at Woodlawn Inn, 420 Division Street Cobourg. Daughter of the late Isabella and Edward Hogan. Sister of Gertrude McKew, Carol Lawless, Joan McIntosh and Sheila Rooney. Sister-in-law of Doreen Hogan. Predeceased by her siblings Ted, Lawrence, Jim and Annamae. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Isabel graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing, Kingston in 1952. She nursed in California and returned to Cobourg to become head of maternity, a position she held for close to 35 years. Friends will be received at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E., Cobourg, on Sunday, March 1st from 1 – 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 2nd at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Cobourg. Dear brother of Edith McBride (Ted predeceased) of Cobourg and Anson Targett and his wife Joan of Cobourg, also Vera Babineau, Maud Murray, Walter MacDonald, Albert MacDonald and Stewart MacDonald, all predeceased. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. A service in memory of John will be held at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. East, Cobourg on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at 11 a.m. Interment at Union Cemetery, Cobourg. Memorial donations could be made in memory of John to Operation Eyesight or the Parkinson Foundation.

A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held at St. Paul’s United Church, Cold Springs, on Thursday, April 30 at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10-11 a.m. For those wishing to make donations the family has requested the Northumberland Humane Society and the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
