Kathleen LaBelle - 06/27/2003

Passed away in hospital June 27, 2003 in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Ernest LaBelle (July 2, 1985). Dear mother of Donald (Mary-Ellen) of Edmonton, Jack (Noella), Ken (Florence), Shirley all of Ottawa and Gerry (Linda) of Kitchener. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St., on Sunday, June 29 from 2 to 4 and and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, June 30 at 11 a.m. Interment at St. Mary the Virgin anglican Church Cemetery, Navan Road. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Lung association.

Vincent Roland Lafleur - 06/19/2003

Passed away suddenly, after a brief illness, on June 19th, 2003 at the age of 76 years. Vince is survived by his beloved wife Marjorie, sons and daughters-in-law Steve and Debby, Don and Wanda and grandsons Kevin and Michael. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Claire and Claudette and close family friend Alix. He was predeceased by his brothers Wilfred, Lawrence and sister Doreen. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Rd) on Tuesday June 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Christ Church, 101 Charles, Aylmer on Wednesday June 25th at 11:00 a.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Hilda Marion Laity (nee Johnston) - 06/23/2003

Peacefully after a two year battle with cancer on June 22, 2003 at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late William Norman Laity (Bill). Loving mother of Carol. Dear aunt of Butch, Bill, Susan, Judy and Lloyd. Survived by her brother, Ernest Johnston. Predeceased by brothers, Norman and Roy and her sister, Emma. She will be sadly missed by all her friends and family. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. A Graveside service will be held at St. George's Cemetery, Hawthorne, at 12:30 p.m. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Glinski and staff as well as the special angels at the Hospice at May Court. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice at May Court would be appreciated by the family.

Jean-Yves (Lefty) Lefebvre - 06/18/2003
WW2 Veteran RCASC

At the age of 84 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jean worked for Veteran's Affairs for 31 years, retiring in 1977. Loving husband of Grace Upton, cherished father of Margaret (Tom). Dear grandfather of Kimberly and Pamela, great-grandfather of Kyle, Kaitlin and Kieran Goebel and Nathan Hanlan. At Jean's request, there will be no visitation. Cremation to take place with burial at The National Military Section at Beechwood Cemetery on Friday, June 20, 2003 at 2 p.m. with reception following at the cemetery. In memory of Jean, donations to The Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Special thank-you to Dr. S. Tadros, Dr. P. Allard and the nurses at The Palliative Care Unit at The Elizabeth Bruyere Health Center for all their care and kindness to Jean, especially Cynthia and the nurses on 5E.

René Lellig

Due to a massive heart attack, five days shy of 54 years old, died at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus with all his family members alongside on June 9, 2003. Loved and cherished by Lellig, Potvin, Johansson and Curley families. The Funeral Service will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St., on Friday, June 29, 2003 at 10am. Interment in Cote des Neiges Cemetery, Montreal, Quebec. Carol Alice (nee Low) Liberty

Peacefully, at the Hospice at May Court, on Friday, June 20, 2003 after a long, courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by members of her family, at age 69. Carol is survived be her loving husband of 47 years, Laurie, her children Sharon (John) Braun, Randy (Ione) Liberty and Jonathan (Sandra) Liberty, her grandchildren Rose Braun, Evan, Tegan and Anna Liberty, and her siblings Jessie (Marion) Swain, Ron (Jean) Low, Davis "Mort" (Barbee) Low, Ken (Janice) Low and Eric Low. After returning to nursing and doing training with Dr. Balfour Mount at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, Carol started the first functional Palliative Care service in Ontario at the Riverside Hospital. She will be greatly missed by her many friends. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry 315 McLeod Street, at O'Connor, on Monday, June 23rd from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, June 24th at 11am. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Hospice at May Court or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Ethel Mary Riddell (nee Shaw) Lloy - 06/27/2003

Peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 24, 2003, age 90 years. Beloved wife of the late James Murray Lloy. Dear sister of Edna May Bickerton and the late Harold Shaw, Carlton Shaw and Anna Laura Shaw. Ethel will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry 315 McLeod Street, after 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2003 until service time in the chapel at 12noon. Reception to follow at the McGarry Family Reception Centre. Interment St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery, Navan, Ontario. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stoke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated.

Heather Anne Mason

Peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. She is survived by sister Barbara, brother David, her children, Jacqueline, Danielle, Adam and granddaughter Morgan. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street at O'Connor, on Saturday, June 21st, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A private service for family and close friends will be held at her home on Sunday, June 22nd. There will be a reception after the service at 4 p.m. where all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Scleroderma Society of Ontario would be greatly appreciated.

Peacefully at home in Ottawa on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at age 51 after a courageous fight with cancer. Beloved daughter of Rena (and her husband Gerald). Loving mother of Marc and Anne and proud grandmother of Austin. Fondly remembered by Gilles Mathieu. Also survived by her niece Tina Lepage, sisters Kathy and Linda and brothers Andy and Rick. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road, Ottawa on Sunday, June 29 from 5-9pm. A Memorial Service will be held in Athens, Ontario. at a later date. Those wishing may make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Audrey Eteanor McBain - 06/22/2003

Peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 22, 2003; aged 83 years Beloved daughter of the late David and Matilda McBain. Loving aunt of Joan Hamilton, Alan (Maureen) McBain Bruce (Dawn) and Graeme (Margaret Anne) Robb Also survived by 3 grand nieces and 1 grand nephew: 2 great grand nieces and four great nephews. Predeceased by a sister Mildred Robb and a brother Kenneth McBain. Lovingly remembered by her dear friend Helen Bayne. Special thanks to the staff at The Glebe Centre for their compassion and care. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 from7 to 9 pm and on Wednesday after 12 noon until the service time in the chapel at 2 p.m. A reception will follow in the McGarry Family Reception Centre. Died after a short illness Monday June 16th, 2003 at the age of 87. Predeceased by wives Irene Rielly (1974)and Jean Quarmby (1997), also sisters Frances, Ruth and brother Fred. Surviving by his sister Gertrude and his children Michael (Rita), Susan, Peter (Isabelle Desgagnes) and Robert and his grandchildren Sonya, Karen, Kimberly, Nicolas and Elise, all of Ottawa. Retired veteran, Civil Servant and long time resident of Elmvale Acres. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry 1200 Ogilvie Road on Thursday, June 19 from 5-9p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Resurrection of Our Lord, 1940 Saunderson Drive, on Friday, June 20, 2003 at 10:00a.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens. Loving father of Lynden (Joanne), Diane Willis (Nick) and Ron (the late Debbie). Cherished grandfather of Heather and Donovan and papa of Sara, Emily and Mathew. Harold is survived by his brother Ken Nesbitt (Terry). She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Alice Rayner and her son-in-law, Kevin Brands. Carole was a former employee of Met Life Insurance and Canterbury House Book Store. She was also a co-owner of Pilgrim's Way Book Shoppe. Passed away June 22, 2003, at the age of 87 years. Beloved wile for 57 years of the late Harold Bowie Reid. She will be missed by her loving children James (Geraldine) Reid, of North Gower, Ontario and Katherine (Eric) Hofmann of Summerland, B.C. and her grandchildren Emily, Duncan and Ian Reid. Mary will be also fondly remembered by her friends in Deep River and Norway Bay.
