Peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at the age of 87. Son of the late Bernadette and John Kelly. Beloved husband of the late Margaret ( nee Moyle ) and son Michael. Loving father of Pat Clare ( Walter ). Cherished Grandfather of Kelly Dey, Jake Clare( Michelle ) and Luke Clare ( Lynn ) and Great Grandfather of Kathryn and Madeleine Dey. He will be missed by many friends and family especially the nieces and nephews that he loved. Following a courageous battle with cancer, Denise passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on April 16, 2006, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late René Lurette. She will also be fondly remembered by sisters-in-law Noëlla ( the late Rodolphe Dinelle), Fernande (the late Marcel Desjardins), Isabelle (Stanley Saunders), and nieces Lyse and Suzanne. Special thanks to Dr. Coulombe and the staff at the Hospice at May Court as well as the Fifth Floor staff at the Elisabeth Bruycre Health Centre for the wonderful care our mother received. Peacefully with family by his side, April 25, 2006 at age 89 after a long illness with Parkinsons at the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital. Loving husband to Margaret Elinor MacKay (nee Whillans). Much loved father to Robert Ian, and Janet Katherine MacKay and cherished grandfather to Jamie and Robyn MacKay Batsch. Born in Kentville, Nova Scotia and a graduate from Dalhousie University, James made his career with the Department of Transport Canada where he met Elinor. After retiring he spent many wonderful active years with Elinor traveling, curling, enjoying cottage life and being a wonderful grandfather. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Friday from 3 - 5 and 7 - 9pm. Beloved wife of Frank Seuter MacRae who predeceased her in 1989 after 44 years of marriage. Predeceased by her parents James Davis Hodgins and Annie Louisa Hodgins, by her brothers Winston and Lyall and sister Florabell Coles. Wife of the late George Maxwell. Joan died peacefully at home April 19, 2006 at the age of 70 years. Joan is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Dave Corkery and Joy and Ron Edgeley, as well as her four wonderful grandsons, Scott and Grant Corkery and Brayden and Bryan Edgeley. She is also survived be her brothers George (Hilda), Burleigh (Carol) and her sisters Edna (Harry) and Linda. Reid Arthur David - 05/16/2006

A.D. Reid was born in Montreal in 1918 and passed away after a short illness in Ottawa, on 16th, May 2006. Proudly of Irish and Scottish decent. Survived by his youngest son, Steve (Liane) and grandchildren; Stefanie, Kyle and Holly of Ottawa, his middle son, James (Caroline) and grandchildren; Keri, Derek and Jordan of Montreal and by his eldest son, Tom and partner Sharon of Toronto. Also survived by his brothers, Telford, Kenneth and brother-in-law Allen. He joins his beloved wife Doris and siblings; Jim, Bill and Annettie in the arms of Jesus and God, in the kingdom of Heaven he embraced throughout his 87 years of Christian life. Art was passionate about life, honour, morality, and most importantly about doing the right thing always and without question. He built a career in commercial packaging, rose to the VP level and started his own business in his early 60's, showing the vitality he carried throughout his long life. A WWII veteran, Art volunteered in 1939 and served in the Canadian Navy. He was stationed in Halifax, then Southampton UK and participated in the Allied Forces invasion of Normandy in 1944. Art was honourably discharged in 1945 after serving his country. Several years later, on a ski train headed from Montreal to Ste. Agathe he met his wife Doris and renewed a romance that had begun before the war. Art and Doris married in 1954 and settled in Rosemere, Quebec. In 1988 they moved to Ottawa where they grew to love the city, and all it had to offer. He joined the Metropolitan Bible Church and was consistently proud of it's growth over his many years of membership. A lover of nature and the outdoors, Art enjoyed golf, curling, skiing, sailing, walks, hikes, and observing all the natural beauty Canada has to offer and encouraged his children and grandchildren to do the same. Art had a kind word for everyone . He sponsored godchildren in Africa and the Philippines, and led his family by example. He will be greatly missed by his three boys, his daughters-in-law, his six grandchildren, his brothers and sisters-in-law. We love you Dad, thanks for your leadership and guiding hand. Peacefully, in Ottawa at the Grace Manor on May 13, 2006, Betty Carr in her 97th year. Dearly beloved wife of the late Ewan Carr. Cherished mother of Nancy Clark ( the late Gordon) and Kenneth ( the late Patricia ). Proud Nana of Glen, Shawn, Kevin, Betsy, Bradley, Tammy and great-grandmother of 7. Betty was raised in Montreal with her much loved siblings Lena, Nancy, George and Viley, all of whom predeceased her. She brought joy to all who knew her. Marie-Rose Ernestine Carriere
December 12, 1918 - May 11, 2006

On Thursday, May 11, 2006, a beloved and unique woman passed away. Marie-Rose lived both a long and good life. She will be remembered mostly for her determination, strong dedication to her family, her art, career, and her studies. She had worked for the Department of Defense, French Embassy in Washington, and co-founded the Department of Psychiatry at the Hawksbury General. After retiring from a long career as a Family and Marital Psychiatric Social Worker, she dedicated her time to international adoptions. She was the first woman in Canada to adopt a child of the opposite sex. Marie-Rose in the first graduating classes in Social Work, and was part of the first group of people allowed in Auschwitz when it reopened. Marie-Rose held three masters; last one received in 1999, had received a grant from UNESCO fellowship for Slavic Studies during the 50's and was finishing her Doctorates in Philosophy at the Dominican College when Alzheimer afflicted her. She is survived by her son Michel, wife Tracy. She was the proud grandmother of Gabrielle and David. A special acknowledgement to the team of nurses and staff on the 3rd floor at the Residence St-Louis for their help and support. Lynn (nee Currie) Cuddington - 05/10/2006

Lynn passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 9 at the age of 50. Daughter of the late George and Mavis Currie, Lynn was predeceased by her husband, Gary Soley. Lynn will be missed by her sisters Sharon Anderson, Jill Trantham (husband Bill) and Meredith Vrbanac (husband Paul) as well as her nieces and nephews David Trantham, Heather, Allison, Matthew and Daniel Vrbanac. Lynn recently retired from The Correctional Service of Canada and served as the Executive Director of the International Corrections and Prisons Association. Leila "Gwen" Holmes (nee Wood) - 05/15/2006

Peacefully, at home, in her 72nd year, following a courageous battle with leukemia, on Saturday May 13, 2006. Beloved wife of Bruce of 46 years. Gwen leaves behind Her son Greg of Calgary (Suzanne) and grandchildren, Justine, Paige, Brandon and Erika. Born at South River Ontario. Predeceased by parents Clayton and Hazel Wood. Survived by brothers John (Joan), Robert (Beverley) of North Bay Ontario. Also missed by several relatives in the North Bay area. Gwen was employed at Deloitte & Touché for over 20 years. She was an active member of Southminster United Church and will be sadly missed by the 'Book Club girls'. Gwen requested immediate cremation. There will be a memorial service at Southminster United Church, Bank Street at Aylmer Avenue, at 11.00am on Friday May 19th followed by a reception in The Ladies Parlour. A private interment service will be held at Pinecrest cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa branch of the Canadian Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
