Sparks, Arthur

Suddenly at home on Sunday, February 9th, 2003, while working on his truck, at the age of 61 years, Art Sparks of Saugeen Shores. Loving friend and husband of the former Brenda McIntosh. Loved dad of Grant and his wife Cindy, and Donna Sparks, all of Saugeen Shores. Bumpa of Nathaniel Sparks and Grampa of Abigail Sparks. Brother of Janice Campbell of Port Elgin. He will be missed by Brenda’s family and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill St., Port Elgin, from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral service will be conducted in Port Elgin United Church, 840 Bruce St., Port Elgin on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Johnston officiating.

Interment Sanctuary Park Cemetery.

At her residence in Port Elgin on Sunday, February 9th, 2003 at the age of 72 years. Wife of Juhan Jensen.

At the Southampton Care Centre on Wednesday, February 5th, 2003 at the age of 97 years, Clarke White of Port Elgin. Husband of the late Mildred Murdoch and the late Marjorie McLean. Dear father of Gwendolyn Turner of Dartmouth, N.S. Grandfather of Rhandy Patton and his wife Beth, Bonnie and her husband Glen Cah, Lynn and her husband Michael Coward, Lisa Turner, Larry Turner and his wife Karen, and Lee Turner and his wife Sue. Brother of Florence Gregg of Kincardine. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter Winnifred Percival and by two infant children.

Suddenly at home on Thursday, January 30th, 2003 at the age of 84, John Wing of Port Elgin. Husband of the late Stella Walter. Father of Patricia Ann and her husband Brian Luckman of Quebec City, and John David Wing Jr. of Port Elgin. Brother of Jane Milot, Edna Carpenter, and Pete Wing, all of Welland, and Mary Marco of Fonthill. He is predeceased by his daughter Barbara Ann at the age of six years and by his brother Paul.

At the London Health Sciences Centre, Victoria Campus, on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2003 at the age of 60 years, Brian Thomas of Underwood. Past owner of Lake Huron Rod and Gun. Loving husband of the former Ruth Schmidt. He will be missed by his children Brad and his wife Carmen, and Lisa Thomas, all of Bruce Township. He is also survived by his mother Edna of the Southampton Care Centre, his brother John and his wife Diane of Ottawa, and his mother-in-law Jean Schmidt of Stratford. Grampa of Daniel, Darren, Dustin, Jason, and Krissy. Uncle of Laurelle and Jordan. He is predeceased by his father Frank and by his brother Jerry.

A memorial service will be conducted at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill St., Port Elgin, on Tuesday, January 28th, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Doug Reble officiating.

Catto, Andy

At his residence in Saugeen Township on Tuesday, January 21st, 2003 in his 82nd year, Andy Catto of Saugeen Township. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Bricker. Dear uncle of Daryl and Chris. Brother of Audrey Davis of Hanover. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Edward, Melvin, and Roy and by his sister Aileen.

Peacefully at the Southampton Care Centre on Wednesday, January 15th, 2003 at the age of 93 years, Stan Wagester of Port Elgin, and formerly of Mississauga. Loving husband of Mary for 47 years. He is also survived by his niece Claudette Elyea and her husband Arnold of Port Elgin. He is predeceased by his parents William and Amanda Wagester and his brother Walter.

Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Wednesday, January 15th, 2003, at the age of 80 years, Edna Blain of Port Elgin and formerly of Barrie. Loving wife for 60 years and beloved companion of Gordon (Bud) Blain. Dear mother of Garry and his wife Barbara of Niagara-on-the-Lake, David and his wife Gail of Barrie, and Susan and her husband Gary Exell of Port Elgin. Sadly missed by grandchildren; Jeffrey, Michael, Lori, Tara, Lisa, Tracy & Jill.

At the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton, on Tuesday, January 14th, 2003 in his 83rd year, Alvin Cumming of Paisley. Beloved husband of the former Clara Woelfle. Dear father of Robert and his wife Nancy of Saugeen Township, Reg and his wife Karen of Bruce Township, and Edith and her husband Brian Beech of Paisley. Brother of Nellie Johnston of Walkerton, and Ethel and her husband Calvin Cober of Saugeen Township. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Glen, daughter Sheila, brother Jim and sister Ilene.

Dear daughter of Viola Carpenter of Kitchener. Loving mother of Paul and his wife Melanie, Jo-Anne and her husband Paul Schmalz all of Port Elgin and John and his wife Carrie of Southampton. Gramma of Rowan, Connor, Hannah, Luke, Frankie and Ashlynn. She is also survived by her brother George Carpenter and his wife Wendy of Sarnia, sisters Sally and her husband John Wall and Shirley Carpenter all of Kitchener and her mother-in-law Jean Stephenson of Southampton. She will be missed by her good friend Abby Bolton.
