Atkinson, Wm. Robert

At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Thursday, March 27th, 2003 at the age of 72 years, Bob Atkinson of Port Elgin. Father of Drew and Michael Atkinson. Brother of Edith and her husband Charles Stewart of Meaford, Margaret and her husband Howard Chappell of Saugeen Township, Mike and his wife Doreen of Kingston, and Louise and her husband Leonard Neeb of Bruce Township. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lauren and Jesse, his sister-in-law, Joyce Atkinson, and by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Ted.

A funeral service will be conducted in the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill St., Port Elgin (Town of Saugeen Shores) on Saturday, March 29th, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Gordon Williams officiating.

Interment Sanctuary Park Cemetery.

Robertson, Jackie

At the Grey Bruce Health Services in Southampton on Tuesday, March 25th, 2003, at the age of 70 years, Jackie Robertson, the former Jackie Tupling, dearly loved wife of Nelson Robertson of Port Elgin. Mom of Randy, and Carla and her husband Rob Dunlop, all of Port Elgin. Nana of Mallory Dunlop, and Sarah and Sean Robertson and their mother Caroline Robertson. Survived by her brother Gary Tupling and his wife Lucette, sisters- in-law Jeanette Hymmen of Port Elgin, and Sheila and her husband Bob Reaburn of Ilderton, by brothers-in-law John MacKay and Bill Boettger of Port Elgin, and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Lois Dollar and sister-in-law Olga MacKay.

Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, (Town of Saugeen Shores) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 27th. Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Friday morning, March 28th at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Julia Morden officiating.

Interment Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin.

Solomon, Patrick

At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on his 79th birthday, Patrick Solomon of Saugeen First Nation. Husband of the late Velma Ritchie and Alvina Wahbegona. Father of Donald, David, and Roderick, all of Owen Sound, Bonnie McCue of Niagara Falls, Sally Solomon Kellestine of Sarnia, and Tim of Barrie. He is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brother of Helen Mason. Father-in-law of Sharon Solomon. He is predeceased by his sons, Hank, Harvey, and Ronald, his daughter Leatrice, and his grandson Gregory.

Friends may call at the Saugeen Full Gospel Church, Scotch Settlement Road, on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted in the James Mason Centre on Friday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Philip Ritchie, and Esau Mitchell officiating.

Interment French Bay Cemetery.

Bowes, Kenneth

Peacefully at his residence at Elgin Lodge in Port Elgin on Friday evening, March 14th, 2003, at the age of 76 years, Ken Bowes of Port Elgin, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Wilkinson. Ken is survived by his sister-in-law Patricia Bowes, and by niece Doris Meacham and her husband Don of Wiarton, and by nephew Dick Bowes of Louisville, Kentucky. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Dorothy Smith, Marie Strachan, Roy Bowes, Cliff Bowes, and Nadean Chapman. Ken will be especially missed by close friends Rachel and John MacDonald.

Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, March 17th. Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Gordon Williams officiating.

Card, Ethel

In Southampton on Thursday, March 13th, 2003 at the age of 80 years, the former Ethel Norman. Wife of Vonne Card of Port Elgin and formerly of Mississauga. Mother of Barry and his wife Linda of Milton, Sharon Card and her husband Glenn Charban of Paisley, and Blair of Penetanguishine. Grandma to Michelle and her husband Calum Ross, Cindy and her husband Mike Eedy, and Christine Card. Sister of Maye Norman, Marion Morrison, Francis Norman, Joyce Batter, Una Evans, and Fred Norman. Predeceased by her brothers, Phil Norman and Richard Norman.

Friends are invited are invited to a service to be held at Turner and Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga on Saturday, March 22nd, 2003 at 4:00 p.m.

Interment Piney, Manitoba.

Mother of Suzanne and her husband Bill Milner of Palmerston, and Robert Bruce Jr. and Ruth Gunn of Sauble Beach. Gramma to Terry Grogan and his wife Tina of Toronto, Mindy Grogan and her fiancé Brad Armstrong of Ajax, Craig Milner of Toronto, and Wayne Milner of Guelph. Great-gramma to Ivah Jane Guy of Port Elgin. Sister-in-law of Marion J. Eby, and June Brill, both of Port Elgin. She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Grandpa to Lanny Fleming and his wife Heather, Kevin Fleming, and Adrian Little. Sister of Marion Halfpenny of Caledonia. He is predeceased by his brothers Harvey and George.

Sister of George Galliher and his wife Nancy of Tiverton, and Wayne Galliher and his wife Mary of Port Elgin. Special friend of Jerry Nagle of Southampton. She is also survived by her former husband Larry Gennow of Southampton.

Roppel, Harvey

Suddenly at his residence on Monday, March 3rd, 2003, Harvey Roppel of Port Elgin. Beloved husband for 56 years of the former Ruby Shantz, he is also survived by his sister-in-law Jessie Roppel of Port Elgin, many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his family and will be missed by the Shantz family. Harvey is predeceased by his parents John and Mary (Schwass) Roppel, brothers Clifford and Clarence, sisters Leta Henkenhaf, Melinda Ortman, and Clara Buchanan. Mr. Roppel was a member of the Port Elgin United Church for 43 years.

Passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Monday, March 3rd, 2003 at the age of 88 years, the former Eleanor Poulter. Wife of the late Canon Orrence Laramie. Mother of Jim and his wife Colleen of Vancouver, and Gaye and her husband Ron Schell of Port Elgin. Grandma to Todd and Rob Kerrigan, and Rebecca, Ryan, Heather, and Tyler Schell. Sister of Ken Poulter of Leamington. She is predeceased by her brother Ernest.
