Gerald Bicknell

In Southampton on Monday, August 4th, 2003, at the age of 84 years, Gerry Bicknell of Port Elgin. Born in Manitoba on May 14th, 1919 to Howard and Hester Bicknell. Following graduation in Engineering from the University of Manitoba, Mr. Bicknell followed a career for 38 years with CPR. Husband of Annie Elizabeth Bicknell for 57 years. Father of Linda and her husband Dave Mason of Port Elgin, and Frank Bicknell and his wife Sue of Queensbury, New York. Brother of Alice Perkins of Clearlake Highlands, California. Grandfather of Sean Bicknell, and Andrew and Adrienne Mason. He is also survived by his grand-niece Maureen Rinnt and her husband Derek, his grand-grand-niece Anna Rinnt, and many nieces and nephews in Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, and California. Predeceased by his sisters Hester, Margaret, and Maude, and by his brothers John, George, Ernest, Donald, Oswald, Stanley, Edward, Leonard, and Allan. Mr. Bicknell loved carpentry and all sports; especially golf, curling, softball, bowling, hunting, fishing, basketball, billiards, swimming, and water skiing. He was an avid member of curling clubs in Kentville, N.S., Sherbrooke, Quebec, Clagary, Alberta, and White Rock, B.C. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in WWII as a navigator in England and Burma Road, India.

A private graveside service will be held at Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin with Pastor Bob Johnston officiating.

Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation for the Family Room. Funeral arrangements were in the care of the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill St., Port Elgin, ON N0H 2C0.

Allan McIntosh

At the Southampton Care Centre, on Sunday, August 3rd, 2003 in his 91st year, Al McIntosh of Port Elgin. Beloved husband of the former Jean Snazel. Father of Anne and her husband Floyd Mulligan of Calgary, and Paul and his wife Joanne of Carlisle. Grandfather of Meghan, Robert and Sean Mulligan, and David and Christopher McIntosh. He is predeceased by his parents and two sisters.

Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, (Town of Saugeen Shores) from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9p.m. on Wednesday. Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Julia Morden officiating.

Interment Sanctuary Park Cemetery.

Lorne Majury

At the Walkerton Hospital on Saturday, August 2nd, 2003 in his 70th year, Lorne Majury of Paisley. Beloved husband of Micky (MaryLou) of 35 years. Dear friend of Cheryl Wonch. Brother of Ross and his wife Madeline of Kitchener, Enie and her husband Jack Peloquim of Hager, Elaine and her husband Gene Martin of Sarnia. Special brother-in-law to Fred McRae of Port Colborne, Graham McRae and his wife Fran of Allenford, Edna and her husband James Engel of Barrie, Annie and her husband Bill Linn of Southampton, and Janet & her husband Keith Gark of Sarnia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Paisley Chapel, 216 Queen St. South, Paisley, from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Chester officiating.

Interment Douglas Hill Cemetery.

Gladys Pearce

At Victoria Hospital South St. Campus, London, on Tuesday, July 29th, 2003 in her 88th year, the former Gladys Currie of Paisley. Wife of the late John Pearce. Dear mother of Lois McFadden of Paisley, Lorraine and her husband Wes Riley of Teeswater, Bill and his wife Elaine of Elmira, and Bob and his wife Evelyn of Paisley. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Duncan and Lavina Currie, her sister Verna McKeeman, her twin brother Clarence Currie, daughter-in-law June Pearce, and son-in-law Bruce McFadden.

Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Paisley Chapel, 216 Queen St. South, Paisley, from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.with the Rev. Maggie Keates officiating.

Florence Cannon

At the Southampton Care Centre, on Saturday, July 26th, 2003, at the age of 91 years, Florence Cannon, the former Florence Scott. Wife of the late Harold Cannon, mother of Larry and his wife Sharon of Port Elgin and Lawrence and his wife June of Ennismore, Ontario. She is survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and by her sister Minnie Kearns of Southampton. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Matilda Scott.

Friends may call at the W. Kent Milroy Port Elgin Chapel, 510 Mill Street, Port Elgin, (Town of Saugeen Shores) from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9p.m. on Monday, July 28th. Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Bruce McDougall officiating.

Interment Sanctuary Park Cemetery.

A reception with the family will follow in the Community Room of the funeral home.

At the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Monday, July 21st, 2003, at the age of 61 years. Judy Smith, the former Judy Barr of Port Elgin, and formerly of Harriston. Wife of Patrick C. Smith of Port Elgin. Mother of Robert of Orangeville, Donna Miles Heise and her husband John, and Matthew and his wife Candy all of Harriston. Grandma of Joshua and Megan Smith, Brandon, Jennifer, and Tyler Heise, and Brave and Gage Smith. Sister of Patricia Bolton of Leamington.

A gathering to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Port Elgin, on Saturday, August 9th, 2003 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Claude Kenney

At his residence in Hanover, on Monday, July 21st, 2003, at the age of 89 years, Claude Kenney of Hanover and formerly of Paisley. Husband of the late Janet Kenney.

Cyril Handy

At Southampton, on Thursday, July 17th, 2003, at the age of 76 years, Cyril John Handy of Southampton and formerly of England. Beloved husband of the late June Handy. Much loved father of Elaine and her husband Mark Brown of Port Elgin, and Nigel and his wife Demelza of Birmingham, England. Cherished Granddad of Andrew, Rachel, and Rebecca Brown, and Charlene, Barry, and Natasha Handy. Brother of Dora and family of Birmingham, and Audrey and her husband Bob Washborne and family of Australia. Predeceased by sisters, Beryl and Joyce.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church, Port Elgin, on Saturday, July 19th at 12 noon, with Father Mike Francis as celebrant. Cremation to follow, with interment to take place in England. A reception with the family will follow Mass at Jubilee Hall, St. Joseph's Church.

Brother of Linda and her husband Pat O’Leary of Tottenham, Jerry and his wife Claire of Tottenham, and Dianne and her husband Mike Fenning of Bond Head. Uncle to Jackie and her husband Doug Matson, Mark O’Leary and his wife Krista, Jennifer O’Leary, Brandon and Jordan Wallace, and Samantha and Joshua Fenning. Great-uncle to Kayla Matson. Grandma of Mark Fenton and Ang of Port Elgin, Karen and Andy Robinson of Midland, and Diane Smyth of Brampton and Karl Smyth of Orangeville. Great-grandmother of Spencer and Brock Fenton and Sydney Robinson. Sister-in-law of Norma Gilchrist, Marjorie Gilchrist, Verna Henderson, and Alice Booth. She is predeceased by her brothers Donald and Neil Gilchrist.

Grandfather of Nancy Truax of London, Patricia Scrimshaw, Jennifer McCormick of Toronto, and Nadine McCormick of Oshawa. Great-grandfather of Adam and Amanda Truax of London. He is predeceased by his brothers, Sam and George.

Stepmother to Dennis Pickard and his wife Janet of Blaine, Washington, and Michael Pickard and his wife Elayne of Aldergrove, B.C. Dear Grandma of Heather, Hayley, Megan, Lauren, Rory, Jesse, Daniel, Benjamin and Devin. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Ene, Elaine, Lorne and Ross and their families. She is predeceased by her sister Karen and by her brother Bob.
