GILCHRIST, Mr. John “Jack“ - Suddenly at London Health Sciences, University Campus on October 10th, 2006, Mr. John “Jack“ Gilchrist of Chatham in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Eileen (Boyd). Dear father of Ian and his wife Catherine of Toronto and Colin and his wife Bobbi of Trenton. Fondly remembered by his grandsons Keir and Evan. Mr. Gilchrist will be remembered as an avid cyclist. Cremation has taken place with interment at a later date in Scotland. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society. Dear brother Jack and his wife Margaret, Anne and her husband Tom Clark, Brian and his wife Margaret, and Janice and her husband Raymond Smith all of Scotland. Predeceased by his infant sister Isabel and sister Susan Hunter. At Copper Terrace Nursing Home on Thursday August 10th, 2006 Mr. George Lane in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Frances (Tomek). Loving father of Joanne Silverman and her husband Wayne of Forest, John and his wife Tracy of Chatham, Joe and his wife Shirley of Chatham, and Jeff and his wife Kim of Brampton. He will be fondly remembered by his seven grandchildren. Dear brother of Betty Conmackie, Bev Lane and his wife Vivian, and Ed Lane all of Chatham. Predeceased by his sister Beatrice Thomas, and brothers Bill, Fred, Doug and Mac. Mr. George Van Bolhuis

At Riverview Gardens on Saturday July 1st, 2006 Mr. George Van Bolhuis of Chatham in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of the late Tina (Wolters) Van Bolhuis (2000). Loving father of Richard Van Bolhuis of Chatham, Grace and her husband Simon Nagel of Chicago, Illnois, Cecil Van Bolhuis and his partner Nicole Girard of Montreal, and Rene and her husband Bob Borrowman of Chatham. He will be fondly remembered by his nine grandchildren and his four great grandchildren. Loving father-in-law of Simone Van Bolhuis of St. Mary’s. Mr. Van Bolhuis was born in 1913 in Holland and was the loving son of the late Derk and Geeske Van Bolhuis. He is survived by his sister Heiltje, and twenty four nephews and nieces all of Holland. Predeceased by his son Dirk (1991) and his five brothers. After immigrating to Canada in 1952, George pursued his love of farming. He also worked for many years at Libby’s. Mr. Van Bolhuis has been a member of the First Reformed Church in Chatham since 1952. Family and friends are invited to the Alexander Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, (519-352-2710), on Tuesday July 4th, 2006 from 1:00pm to 2:00 pm with the funeral service to follow in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Peter Burrill of First Reformed Church of Chatham officiating. Beloved wife of the late Carman Faubert, the late Clayton Mitrink, and the late Fredick Mitrink. Loving mother of Patricia Reid, Jeannette Snobelen, Diane Medd and her husband Bill, Rita Russell and her husband Brad, Carman Faubert and his wife Ann, Ron Faubert and his wife Shirley, Mike Faubert, Ken Robbins and his partner Hector Audette, and Wannetta Bishop. Dear sister of Pat Gladwish of Texas and sister-in-law Rita Gladwish of Chatham. Much loved grandmother of twenty-one and great grandmother of twenty-five. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her daughters Doreen Grant and Sharon Fischer, son-in-laws Barry Reid and Wayne Snobelen, great granddaughter Kathleen Nicole Reid, and by her brothers Jack and Don Gladwish. Beloved wife of the late Reg (1990); loved mother to the late Donald (1999) and his surviving wife Zitta of Brantford, Beverly Duncan (Leonard 'Tiny'), and Bill (Cathy) all of Paris; cherished grandma to 8 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren. Paris on Friday October 20, 2006, with Rev. Lee Haughton of St. Paul's United Church officiating. Interment Paris cemetery. DEMURAK, John - Peacefully at the BGH Palliative Care on Thursday, October 19, 2006 in his 81st year. Beloved partner of 20 years to Shirley. Father of Dan (Clare), Debby, Diane (Glen) and Linda. Grandfather of Jacquie, Michael, Christine, Mark, Eric, Dean, Daniel, Kayla, Marc, Shain, Stephan and Hermione. Great- grandfather of Jesse, Conner, Daniel, Christopher and Holden. Predeceased by his daughter Susan. Ever remembered for his search for knowledge, love of music and sense of humour. John will be remembered by many home builders in Brantford and surrounding area as a plastering contractor of 65 years. It was John's wish that cremation be held with no services. John's family gives a heartfelt thank you to the nurses in the Palliative Care Unit and B6 for their compassion and care. A special thank you to Pastor Bob and Jennifer for their gift of music and song. Those wishing to, may make a donation to Brant County Health Care Systems, Palliative Care Unit. Dear brother of Darryl (Linda) Ferguson of Brantford. Loving grandfather of David, Shauna, Mathew, Kelsey, Joe, Samantha, Alli, Ashley, Annalise, Miranda, Spencer and Griffin. Donald Ferguson was a retired employee of Stelco, where he worked for 46 years. HARRIS, Monica Susan - Peacefully at Magnolia Retirement Residence on Thursday October 19, 2006, at the age of 52. Much loved sister of Anne Roberts (Dave), Peter Harris (Carol), Brenda Van Manen (Frank), Paula Bloomfield (Paul) and Susan Harris. Much loved aunt of Dan, Sarah, Jeff, Jenn, Ian, Tom and Tony. Monica is predeceased by her parents the late Gwen and the late Bernard Harris (Jean). Friends will be received at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE 88 Brant Ave on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and on Wednesday from 1-3 pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 3 pm. Cremation to follow. A heartfelt thank-you to Anneliese and family, Valerie, Eileen and the staff and residents of Magnolia for their care and support. Loved mother of Gary and his wife Betty, Brantford, Gail Cleator and her husband Paul, Kelowna, B.C., and Susan Harris and her husband Jim of Cato, New York. Loving grandmother of Cameron Harris (Jessica), Darin Cleator (Heidi), David Cleator, David Hogarth (Julie), Jenifer Hall (Chris) and Sara Hunt (Joe) and 9 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Grace Eisenman, Kelowna, B.C. Dear sister-in-law of Alice Everatt, Janet Hogarth, Betty Hogarth and Glen Hogarth. Also missed by nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Sydenham United Church in approximately 2 weeks. Date and time will be announced in the Expositor. Robert W. Midgley

MIDGLEY, Robert W. - (1917 - 2006) Peacefully, at his home in Burlington, on Thursday, October 19, 2006, a former longtime resident of Paris, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of 65 years to Ethel, loved father to Robert (Judy), and Ellen Taylor (David) and the late Jane. Bob served in the second world war with the 'Cameron's of Canada'. He was well known for his love of sports and coached and participated in many as a young man and continued to play golf until his late seventies. Anyone who knew Bob will remember his unfailing sunny disposition and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbours. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the WM. KIPP FUNERAL HOME, 184 Grand River St. N. Paris on Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the chapel. Family interment Paris cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Zenon Normand

NORMAND, Zenon - passed away Thursday, October 19, 2006 at the Brantford General Hospital, after a lengthy illness; beloved husband of Geraldine; dear father of Germain, Powassan, Ontario, Alan, Williams Lake, British Columbia, Patrick, Victoria, British Columbia; predeceased by daughter, Linda; dear grandfather of eight grandchildren. Zenon was the owner of The Trading Post and later The Bargain Centre. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Allan W. Powell

POWELL, Allan W. (1958-2006) - It is with our deepest sadness that we the family of Allan announce his passing as the result of a tragic accident in Brantford on Wednesday, October 18, 2006. Allan was the loving son of Wilbert and the late Eva Powell. He was the loving father of Michelle Powell and the dearest brother of Darlene Koopman and her husband Henry, Raymond Powell and the late Clifford Powell. He was also a dear friend to Barbara Rodd. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. The family will receive family and friends at DODSWORTH & BROWN Funeral Home, ROBINSON CHAPEL (King Street East at Wellington, Hamilton) on Sunday from 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be on Monday morning at 11 am with the interment at Woodland cemetery. Rev. Dwayne Ratzlaff will be officiating.

Loving step-father of Les, Suzanne, and Little Bob. Dear Papa Big Bob of Kyle, Kally, Jodielynn, Jessica, Shala Marie, Esrom, Jer, Rodney, Ashley, Triston, Trent, Michael, Charlie, Bailey, and Tray. Brother of Gwen and Ed, Vivian, Myrna, and Gail. Bob will also be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews and many friends far and wide. Predeceased by parents Murray and Cora (Hill) Smith, sister Delores and brother Billy. Bob retired from and was an honourary member of the Iron Workers Local 401 Philadelphia, Pa. Resting at his home 699 First Line Road after 2 p.m. Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday then to STYRES FUNERAL HOME, Ohsweken for visitation after 2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Service and Burial will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Six Nations on Monday October 23, 2006 at 11 a.m. Evening Prayers 7 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
