At the Lambton Hospitals Group - C.E.E. Site, on Thursday, October 9, 2003. ROBERT C. (BOB) MACFARLANE, 83 years, of Petrolia. Survived by his wife and best friend of nearly 63 years, Dora A. MacFarlane (nee Wright), his children Sandra and Victor Sylvestre of Spruce Grove, Alberta and Wayne Marybelle MacFarlane of Petrolia, his grandchildren Richard and Debbie Pineo, Candie and Wayne Shwanke, Kristin and Chad Crummy, Jenny and Jason Morley and Scott MacFarlane and Raelyn; his great grandchildren, Ryan and Amanda Pineo, Joshua, Julia, and Jordan Morley and Aaron and Melissa Shwanke. Also survived by brothers and sisters Merle and Gordon MacJennett of Port Huron, Donald and Dorothy MacFarlane of London, a brother-in-law, Russell Pennington of London and a sister-in-law, Florence Wright of Wyoming and several nephews and nieces. Mr. MacFarlane was predeceased by his parents Jack and Laurine MacFarlane and a sister, Alice Pennington and a brother-in-law, Robert Wright. Mr. MacFarlane was the chairman of MacFarlane Chev-Olds. Ltd., and was chosen the recipient of the Time Magazine Quality Dealer of the Year in 1986; he served his country during World War 2 as an aero engine mechanic with the R.C.A.F.; he was a member and past-master of Huron Masonic Lodge #392 (Camlachie), a member of Washington Masonic Lodge #260 (Petrolia), a member of Sarnia Lodge of Perfection, London Sovereign Chapter Rose Croix, Hamilton Moore Consistory, Lambton Shrine Club, London Mocha Temple, Legion of Honour Unit, the 2003 recipient of the John Ross Matheson Award for Distinguished Service, past-president of the Rotary Club of Petrolia and a Paul Harris Fellow and a member of St. Paul’s United Church, Petrolia.. Visitors will be received on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Dr. Robert M. Gibson of St. Paul’s United Church officiating. Interment in Wyoming cemetery. Cherished grandmother of Lisa (Barclay) and Mike Vandendool, Mike Barclay, Scott and Angela Wilton, the late Shelley Wilton (1997), Craig Anger and Brooke VandeVelde, Kelly Anger and Jeremy DeBoer, and Jason and Cameron Porlier. Loving great grandmother of Kirya, Allisa, Brianna, Christopher, and Lucas. Loving sister-in-law Anne Gamble of Victoria, B.C., Russell and Joan Anger of Hamilton, Harvey and Ricki Anger of Michigan, Lloyd and Pat Anger of Minnesota and the late Bill Anger of Aylmer(1999). Prededeased by her parents Harold (1963) of Carlisle Cumberland, England and Ida (1956)(nee Ford) Gamble, brother Ford Gamble (1992), and sister Daisy Smith (1963). Lorraine was born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, a true Westerner at heart, and graduated from Hamilton General Hospital School of Nursing in 1941. She was a V.O.N. nurse and worked as a staff registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Sarnia, from 1963 to 1974. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church in Petrolia, past president of the United Church Women at Dunlop United Church in Sarnia, and a life member of the U.C.W.
