McEWAN, Lynda - Suddenly at the tender age of 40 years. Soulmate of Emilio Andreola. Cherished mother of Christine (Lonnie L'Heureux) and Samantha McEwan. Forever friend of Christine and Samantha's father, Lindsey Diotte. Beloved stepmother of Stacey (Frank) Van Grunsven and Michele (Jerome) Diotte. Much loved daughter of Neil (Anne) and the late Yvonne McEwan of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Fun loving sister of Marian Wood (Gary Watt), Rose (Tony Aceti), Carolyn Proulx, Wayne, Bobby, late Steven, Tina, Bill, Russell, Penny (Sharon), Neil Jr., and Debbie (Don) Beesley. She'll be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Celebration of Lynda's short life was held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at O'Sullivan Donnelly Funeral Home where funeral service was from the chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Earl Minardi

MINARDI, Earl - At the Van Daele Manor on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006 at the age of 84 years. Beloved husband of Marilyn. Dear stepfather of Ronald Stephen and Murray Stephen (Carol). Grandfather of Georden, Lindsay, Alex and Cara. Uncle of Robert and Teresa Minardi, David and Sherri Minardi and Susan Mantel. Survived by several great nieces and nephews. Friends called at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, Oct. 20. In keeping with Earl's wishes, there was no funeral service. Interment Holy Sepulchre cemetery.

PIAZZA, Armos “Chao“ - Peacefully, after a courageous battle, surrounded by his family on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 at the Sault Area Hospital; Armos Piazza at the age of 77 years. Beloved husband of Dorothy. Loving father of Gail Vit (Renzo) and Robert (Rhonda). Treasured grampa of Michael Vit (Shannon Socchia), Trisha Vit (Paul Brough), Brent and Sean Piazza. Son of the late Joseph and Esterina Piazza. Brother of Mary Zorzit (late Alfelio), John (Sylvia), Lino (Pat), Ernie (Lureen) and predeceased by by Primo (late Yvonne), Annie Labudec (late Michael) and Albert. Brother- in-law of Harry Moskal (Rhoda), Carol Armstrong, Norma Campbell (George) and the late Ronnie Jensen. Armos will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all of his fishing buddies.Friends called at the Northwood Funeral Home on Wednesday evening. Funeral service in the Chapel on Thursday, Oct. 19. Interment at Holy Sepulchre cemetery.

Bernice Elizabeth Rantamaki

RANTAMAKI, Bernice Elizabeth - Went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, with her family by her side in her 79th year. Loving wife of Raymond for 60 years. Beloved mother of Ron (Ruth) and Linda Curts (Wayne). Proud grandmother of Chris and Jeff Rantamaki (Tina, Kyle) and Brandon and Dustin Curts. Sister of Mae Donovan, Ruth Rokar and Dolores Johnson and aunt of many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by her family and friends. At Bernice's request, a private family service was held at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. Rev. Keith Neal officiated.

Beloved husband of Marilyn (Hodgson) for 55 years. Loving father of Arthur (Karen), Michael (Kathy) and Stephen (Carolyn). Special grandpa of Nicole, Sara and Marisa. Dear son of the late Arthur and Mary Salvalaggio. Dear brother of Gino, Gerald (Shirley), Lola Pellis and predeceased by Dina Devoni (late Joe), Lou (late Mary) and Algesa Visintin (late Nino). Brother-in-law of Fern Della Costanza (late Earl), Bev Zarechney (John), Huck Hodgson (Donna), Joe Hodgson (Lorraine), Donna Christie (late Gary), Chuck Hodgson (Cheryle) and predeceased by George Hodgson, John Hodgson (Georgina) and Butch Hodgson (Pat). Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Friends called at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre Saturday, Oct. 21, until time of funeral service in the chapel. Rev. George LaPierre officiated. Interment Holy Sepulchre cemetery.

John (Jinsy) Scali

SCALI, John (Jinsy) - We let him go on angel's wings, with family by his side on Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 at the SAH at the age of 82. Loving sweetheart and spiritual soulmate of Irene (Rene). He will also be missed by his children; Nancy (Bob), Nick (Lois) and Jim (Bonnie). He was the greatest grandfather to Rob (Kim), Liza (Terance), Susan (Scott), Jacob, Rina, Alyssa (Daniel) and the late Tricia. Great grandpa to Noah, Ethan, Connor, Avy, Mikayla and Ellie. Beloved son of the late Catarina and Nicola Scali. Brother to Meme (Joe), Abbie (Rina) and the late Joe (Norma), late Louis (Mary) and late Rosie (Eugene). Son-in-law of Sarah Chicarelli and the late Angelo. Brother-in-law of Eva Thibodeau (Henry), Rita Lauzon (Bernie), Velma Fregonese, Anna Fera (Tony), Ronald Chicarelli (late Ingrid), Sandra Cook (Charlie) and Danny Chicarelli. Much loved uncle of many nieces and nephews and loving grand dogs. Thank you to Dr. Fritz, Dr. Fratesi, Dr. Berry and to the nurses and staff of 300Y for your special care. Friends visited at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Thursday, Oct. 19. Funeral mass was held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Friday, Oct. 20. Rev. Eric Pannike officiated. Interment Holy Sepulchre cemetery.

Benjamin Francis Smith

SMITH, Benjamin Francis - passed away in Sault Ste. Marie on Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 at the age of 77 years. Survived by his wife Elizabeth. Dear father of Benjamin (Dawn) of Calgary, AB and Paul (Kim) of Yellowknife, NT. Dear grandfather of Jeffery and Zachary. Predeceased by his parents Norman and Frances Smith of Moose Jaw, SK. Brother of the late Donald of Saskatoon, SK. Sadly missed by his sister-in-laws Marj of Saskatoon, SK, Anne-Jane von Aulock (Klaus) of Cologne, Germany and Claire Strong of Sault Ste. Marie; his cousins Drs. Walter Lewis and Memory Elvin-Lewis of St. Louis, Missouri. Ben will be fondly remembered by his niece, nephews, godchildren, friends and colleagues in the education and arts community, where Ben was an educator in the Secondary Schools in Sault Ste. Marie for more than thirty years and he received Sault Ste. Marie's Medal of Merit for his contribution to the theatre and arts organizations, with Benjamin Smith Community Piano named in his honour. At the request of the family, there was no visitation. A Memorial Service was held at St. Luke's Cathedral on Tuesday, Oct. 24, where the Very Rev. Garry Dobinson officiated.

Catherine Kathleen (nee Kozub) Isaac

ISAAC, Catherine Kathleen (nee Kozub) - The Grande Dame of our lives has moved up in the world and joined the angels. It is with great sadness we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Kay Isaac at King Gardens Retirement Home Mississauga on Sunday October 22nd at the age of 83. Kay was predeceased by her husband Charlie Isaac. She is lovingly remembered by Vera Isaac (Stan), George (Jennifer) Isaac, Jo-Anne (Carl) Copeland and Dianne Lalonde. She will be deeply missed by her two grandchildren Charles Copeland and Jessica Eaman. She is predeceased by her brothers Joe and Mike and her sisters Doris and Mary. She is survived by her sister Vera and sister-in-law Ruby. Kay (Auntie Cassie) will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and many friends. Kay was a registered nurse graduating from Hamilton General in 1946. This second to none Florence Nightingale had a long and varied nursing career spanning over 40 years in New York City, St. Catharines, and Brampton. Her skillful nursing care and generous spirit was greatly appreciated by her patients and their families. When her batteries needed recharging she sought refuge in the sunny climes of Antigua where her second family affectionately refers to her as Auntie Kay. Artistically talented, she sent ceramic angel creations around the globe, fashioned silver trays and performed sewing miracles. She also found time to be a prize winning gardener and prize winning deep sea fisher woman. She will be most remembered for her love of dancing and bingo and her warm and loving home that provided refuge for many a tender/wayward student. Despite being crippled by the adversity of heart attacks, neurological disease and broken bones she maintained her indomitable spirit and joy for life. Kay was an active participant in the many activities at King Gardens retirement home, making many friends with the residents and staff. She will be deeply missed by her friends there. The family would like to thank the staff for their excellent care given to Kay over the years. The family will receive friends at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church St. on Thursday October 26th, 2006 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and on Friday October 27th, 2006 from 11-1p.m (905-684- 6346). We will be celebrating her life on Friday October 27th, 2006 at 1 p.m. in the chapel. Interment to follow in Victoria Lawn cemetery.

George J. Willig

WILLIG, George J. - Thursday, October 19, 2006. Survived by his loving wife Sharon (Earwicker); daughters, Katherine (Bert) Lentz of Las Vegas, Nevada, Nancy (Jerry) Moye of Leesburg, Florida; grandsons, Russell, Shannon and Clint; great- granddaughter, Morgan Marie and Chloe. Predeceased by his parents George and Martha Willig; sister, Shirley Bergman. George was formerly the Vice President of Greece Lumber and a World War II Veteran. His Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday October 23, at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Interment , Holy Sepulchre cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation or the charity of your choice in his memory. Arrangements entrusted to VAY-SCHLEICH & MEESON FUNERAL HOME, 1075 Long Pond Road (227-2700).

Tom Worden

WORDEN, Tom – With thanksgiving for his life, the family of Tom Worden announces his passing at the Welland Hospital on Monday, October 23, 2006 at the age of 65. He succumbed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. By his side for over 41 years and to the very end was his cherished wife Pat (nee Raso). He leaves many wonderful memories for his children Carla Bianco (Len), Greg (Melissa), and Cathy Blanchard (Brent). Remembered with love by his grandchildren Isabella, Benjamin, Julian and Matthew. Loving son of Carmelia Biagi and the late Harold Worden. Dear brother of Larry (Geri), David (Carol), Richard (Sally), and Michael. Caring son-in-law of Mary Raso and the late Frank Raso, and brother- in-law Bruno Raso (Jan) and the late Marylou Soluk (Raso). Special nephew of Edith Calarco and Sam Calarco. He is also survived by his many cousins, nieces and nephews. Tom was an active member of The Parish Community of St. Kevin and he had retired from Notre Dame College School where he had taught for over 30 years. He lived his faith through his involvement with Habitat for Humanity and the Niagara Warehouse of Hope. Through his hands-on efforts in assisting new immigrants as they settled in our community, he affectionately earned the names “Pappa Tom” and “Mr. Tom”. The family will receive their friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where a Vigil will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at The Parish Community of St. Kevin on Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Rite of Committal at the family mausoleum at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. In keeping with Tom's desire to help others, memorial donations may be made to Notre Dame Pilgrimage or Niagara Warehouse of Hope. on line memories and condolences at www.jjpatterson.ca As a memorial tribute, a tree will be planted in Memory Woods. A tree grows – memories live.

Son of the late Clément and of the late Perpétue Boyer (née Guenette). Husband of the late Jeannine Boyer (née Larivière) predeceased in 2002. Loving father of Daniel Boyer (Cheryl), Nicole Mills (Daniel), Colette Frappier (Michel), Louise Paris (Bruce), Angèle Roberts (Clem), Jean Boyer (Tanya) and Paul Boyer all of Sudbury and Marie Leroux (Daniel) of Las Vegas, Nevada. Dear brother of Marc Boyer of Sudbury and Reverend Sister Rollande Boyer (f.d.l.s.) of Ottawa. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Reverend Sister Agathe (f.d.l.s.), Marcelin, Rhéal, Alain, Paul, Prima, Antonio and Laurent. Sadly missed by his grandchildren, Linda, Daniel, Darryl, Michael, Michelle, Marc, Mélanie, Bruce Jr., Steve, Mark, Vanessa, Renée, Raymond, Kyle, Dillon, Alex and Eric and by his great- grandchild Jenika. Lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law, Léona Savard (Richard) and Patsy Mills (Bill) both of Sudbury. Also survived by his faithful dog and companion “Baby Girl“. Mr. Boyer was retired from Inco after 38 years of services. The focus of Etienne's life was his loving family to who he leaves a legacy of love, faith and fond memories of his wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed many sports, mostly hockey. Etienne was an avid Montreal Canadians fan and proudly supported his grandchildren in their sports. The family will receive friends at the CO- OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E. (at Notre-Dame), Sudbury, Wednesday from 2-5 and 7-9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, October 26th, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in St- Jean-de-Brébeuf Church, Sudbury. Donations to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated.

Beloved husband of Velma (Jones) Dundas of Alliston and formerly of Sudbury, Ont. Loved father of John Dundas and his wife Lyn of Kenora, Ont. and David Dundas of Woodbridge, Ont. Predeceased by his brothers James, Dalton and Alfred Dundas and his sister Jean Grose. Dear brother-in- law of Helen Dundas and Art Grose both of Allliston, Ont. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.
