August Samler

SAMLER, August – Peacefully at home on January 16, 2007 at the age of 83 years. Loving husband for 28 years to Leili. Step- father to Madis John Tambre and the late Indrek Peter Tambre. Cherished grandfather of Jessica Tambre and great- grandfather of Jack Tambre. August is predeceased by his brother Karl Samler. Special thanks to Dr. Hartman and Nurse Nancy Solohub and to the Palliative Care staff. Your compassion will never be forgotten. A memorial service will be held on Thursday January 25th at the NIAGARA- ON-THE-LAKE CHAPEL of the MORGAN FUNERAL HOMES, 415 Regent Street at 12:00 o'clock noon. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Albert Bennard

BENNARD, ALBERT - Born January 9, 1919 in Timmins, Ontario, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2007 at the Veterans Residence at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Predeceased by his wife Mary in 2000 and his brothers Victor and Henry. Loving father to Beverley Brady (Jim) of Toronto, cherished grandfather to Patrick (Carrie) of Santa Monica, California and Mary Anne (Brendan) of North Vancouver, and great-grandfather to Amy and Sarah. Al is survived by his sisters Lucy Romain of Timmins and Carol Chase of Elliot Lake, sisters-in-law Norma Bennard and Claire Bennard of Timmins and many nieces and nephews from the Bennard and Romain families. After serving in the Royal Canadian Navy in the Second World War, Al returned to Timmins. He was part of the business community and was highly respected for his integrity and fairness to all. He was a past- president of the Timmins Kinsmen Club and was also an avid blueberry hunter, fisherman and golfer. After their retirement in 1985, Al and Mary spent the next 11 winters in Florida where they enjoyed the company of many friends and lived an active life. Although his heart remained in Northern Ontario, Al moved to Toronto in 2004 to live with Bev and Jim. In September 2005, he moved into the Veterans Residence where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his peers and was treated regally by the nursing staff who not only care for our vets, but also care about them. Al was a special man who will be missed by all. Cremation has taken place. A memorial and burial service to be held in Timmins will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Sunnybrook Foundation Veterans Comfort Fund would be greatly appreciated. BERNARD, Marie (Nee Fontaine) - 1933 -2007 - The family announces with great sorrow her death at the Golden Manor home for the aged on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the age of 73 years. Loving wife of the late Gerard Lapointe (Feb. 12th, 1995) and re- married Marcel Bernard on May 13, 1995. Dearest mother of the late “petit“ Louis Lapointe (deceased on Jan. 13, 1949), surviving Louis Lapointe of Montana, Jean-Claude Lapointe (spouse Elizabeth) of Toronto, Diane Gordon (Nee Lapointe) (spouse David) of Cambridge, Linda Lapointe (spouse Sue Gamache) of Timmins and Mike Lapointe (spouse Shawna) of Toronto. Survived by her daughter-in-law Suzanne Lapointe of St. Catharines. Grandmother of Angelle Duquette (Nee Lapointe) of Toronto, Lynn Middleton (Nee Lapointe) (spouse Andrew) of St Catharines, Brian Gordon of Alberta and Crystal Gordon of Cambridge. Great grandmother of Kathryn Duquette, Dylan Gordon, Jerad Gordon all of Toronto and Ian Middleton of St. Catharines. Sister of the late Anna Parent (Nee Fontaine) (deceased May, 1970), the late Dennis Fontaine (deceased August 1999), the late Fernand Fontaine (deceased 1995), surviving Jacqueline Preston (Nee Fontaine) of Nominingues, P.Q., Gerard Fontaine of Val Caron, Thérèse Tardif (Nee Fontaine) of Montreal, Yvette Perreault (Nee Fontaine) of Val Gagné, Henry Fontaine of Iroquois Falls and Rose Wood (Nee Fontaine) of Hoyle, Ont. Marie was born on May 22, 1933 in Iroquois Falls, Ontario. She has resided here in Timmins since 1965. She was owner and operator of the Hoyle Restaurant for many years up until 1976 in Hoyle, Ontario. Marie was a loving, caring and unique lady who made her presence known. She knew exactly what she wanted in life and pursued it with grace. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2007 from St. Anthony's Cathedral. Interment will follow at the Timmins Memorial cemetery. Remembrance donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated. Gwendolyn (née Dungy) Vidito

VIDITO, Gwendolyn (née Dungy) - The family announces with great sorrow her death on Thursday January 18, 2007 at the Extendicare Timmins Nursing Home in her 93rd year. Loving mother of Frederick William Porritt (late Gisele) of Timmins, ON; Sally Dea of Fort Erie, ON; Harold E. Vidito (Connie) of Elliot Lake, ON. Cherished grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of ten. Dear daughter of Mary and Fred Dungy, both predeceased. Dear sister of Margory Smith of Woodbridge, ON. She is also predeceased by her siblings Hilda Perry, Violet Sloggett, Mary Taylor, Roy and Sam Dungy. Gwen was a self-employed Hair Stylist until her retirement in 1984. An avid bowler, curler and even golf occupied some of her time. Gwen enjoyed working in her yard with flowers and trees, and for some time painting on canvas was a way of relaxing after a busy day. KIRBY, Lloyd Edmond - Peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound on Thursday, January 18, 2007. Lloyd Kirby Jr. of Owen Sound in his 58th year. Dear father of Jeffrey and Christopher both of Owen Sound. Grandfather of Mackenzie Young. Son of Lloyd and the late Muriel Kirby. Also survived by two brothers Brian and Mark and his wife Iva all of Orr Lake and a half sister Margaret. Ralph Cooper

COOPER, Ralph - Peacefully, at his farm in Smithville on Thursday, January 18, 2007, Ralph Erwin Cooper, in his 86th year. Beloved son of the late Harry Earl Cooper and the late Celina Constance Cooper (nee Ward). Ralph will be remembered and missed by his cousins Tom Andrews of Wainfleet, Gail and David Chu of North Carolina, Janet and Gerald Hutton of Hamilton, and Connie and Claude Melick of St. Anns, and by his beloved horses. FUDERER, Jakob - After a struggle with Alzheimer's Disease on Thursday, January 18th at the St. Catharines General Hospital - NHS at the age of 82. Much loved husband of Erna of 50 years and cherished father of Monica (Barry) Greer and Petra (Charlie) Boudreau. Opa to Christine, Patricia, Michael and Paul and great grandfather to Brooke. Also survived by his brother Joseph and his many friends and family. Predeceased by his son Edmund. Jakob's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Sunday, January 21st from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. and Monday, January 22nd from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow on Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, 213 Linwell Rd. at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. HEIKOOP, Hendrik - On January 19, 2007, the Lord took to Himself, Hendrik Heikoop in his 91st year. Dearly beloved husband of Herberdina Heikoop (nee Visser) for over 65 years. Cherished father of William and Elizabeth Heikoop, Susan and John VanGameren, Martin and Toni Heikoop, Henry and Coby Heikoop, Marie Heikoop, Emma Heikoop, Nelly and Jack Tamminga, Gary and Jackie Heikoop. Loving Grandfather to 33 grandchildren (2 deceased, William Tamminga in 1982 and Bonnie Heikoop in 2004) and 49 great grandchildren. To which God be given the glory. Our dear father passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving children. Our father has always shown us the love he had for the Lord. It was a comfort for dad to hear the words of Psalm 73:23 & 24 - “Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.“ Visitation will be at the VINELAND CHAPEL of the TALLMAN FUNERAL HOME, 3277 King St. on Monday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place at the Vineland Free Reformed Church Tuesday, January 23rd at 11 a.m. with Rev. McGIMPSEY, Henry Boyd “Harry“ - passed away January 15, 2007 in his 89th year after a short illness. Loving husband of Muriel (nee Watson). Cherished father of daughter Terri-Scott Chapman and son Grant and his wife Margot McGimpsey. Beloved grandfather of Scott Chapman and Carissa and Calbe Chapman and Nicole, Craig and Ian McGimpsey. Dearest brother of the late Sadie Boustead. Also survived by dear friend Bill Chapman and many nieces and nephews. Harry was a member of Paulin Memorial Church. Harry's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to our many friends who have helped us through this time. MUSSAT, Mark Samuel - Surrounded by his angels who carried him into the arms of his father Norm. Mark left this earth unexpectedly on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at the St. Catharines General Hospital, at the young age of 37. Beloved husband of Tammy, devoted Daddy of Nicholas. Mark is survived by his loving Mom, Lesia, and stepfather Robert French. Dear brother of Michael (Kim), Terry (Becky), and their children, Justin, Jason, Colton, Caleb, Matthew, and Christopher. Survived by his Dido, Mike Sr., stepbrother Geoffrey (Helen), John (Wendy), Jason and Jamie French. Son-in-law of Margaret and Jim Gurman, brother-in-law of Charlene and Jennifer. Mark is predeceased by his loving father Norm (1990). Mark will be lovingly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. In his short life, with great humour, Mark spread love, kindness and strength to all who knew him. He not only had a passion for life but a passion for lawnmowers. In anticipation of his upcoming surgery Mark had a memorable, heartfelt Christmas at home that will be remembered forever by his family. Mark was employed with the City of St. Catharines and Outdoor Images. Mark is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, until Monday at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Rite of committal in Victoria Lawn cemetery. Visiting hours are Saturday 7 to 9 and Sunday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Panachyda will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances to a Trust Fund for Mark's son Nicholas would be appreciated by the family. To live in the hearts left behind is not to die.

Beloved husband of Shirley (nee Boychuk). Cherished father of Bonnie Trotter of St. Catharines, Bob & his wife Julie of Manitoulin Island & Heidi Croal & her husband Greg of Lakefield. THÉRIAULT, Mrs. Frances - 1913-2007 - It is with great sorrow that the family announces her death at the Anson General Hospital in Iroquois Falls, on Thursday, January 18th, 2007 at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Zépherin Thériault (1984) and dearest mother of Flo (Guy) Rioux of Iroquois Falls. Cherished grandmother of Gerry (Leslie) Rioux of New York, Richard (Joanne) Thériault of Sudbury, Ron (Monique) Rioux of Iroquois Falls, Ray Thériault of Toronto, Carole Rioux (Gary Cybolsky), Tasha Tremblay and Ashley Tremblay both of Iroquois Falls. She will be sadly missed by her great grandchildren Kristie Rioux of Timmins, Andrée Thériault of Sudbury, Jennifer Bernier of Timmins, Karen Rioux of Peterborough, Renée Thériault of Sudbury and Ivan Bernier of Timmins. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Marie Thériault of Sudbury. Predeceased by her parents, her husband Zépherin as well as her son Raymond Thériault (1985). As a memorial to Frances, a tree will be planted in Memory Woods. A tree grows, memories live. BROWN, Gilbert Cyrus - At the Chatham- Kent Health Alliance, on Friday, January 19, 2007, Gilbert Cyrus Brown, age 61 of Chatham-Kent, beloved husband of the late Lorraine (Dulong) Brown (1992). Gilbert worked at Worthington Steel before his retirement. Loving father of Ryan Brown and his wife Amy and Erin Brown and her companion Robert VanHaren all of Chatham. Dear brother of Sherry Sqires and her husband Dick of Port Lambton. Sadly missed by nieces Joy, Susan, Kathy, Connie and Nancy. Also sadly missed by many members of the Dulong family. He is predeceased by a sister Sylvia Lanson (2006) Friends and relatives may call at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, January 24, 2007. DILLON, Margaret - Peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 21, 2007, Margaret Dillon, age 81, formerly of Chatham, beloved wife of the late Vincent J. Dillon (2002). Born in Windsor in 1925, daughter of the late Rose Drouillard and John Freker. Margaret was a member of St. Joseph's Church as well as the Catholic Women's League (Harwich). She will be dearly missed by her 7 children; Kathy and husband Alex Spence of Timmins, Liz and her husband Larry Buston of Blenheim, Margaret and her husband Dan Meloche of Tecumseh, Casey Dillon and his wife Beth of Chatham, Marilyn and her husband William Knight of Wallaceburg, Theresa and her husband Doug Forde of Kitchener and Colleen and her husband Lonnie Gillett of Chatham. She is also fondly remembered by 23 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Theresa Armit of the United States, Francis Freker of Windsor and Gerald Freker of Oshawa. She is predeceased by a brother Henry Freker and a sister Rita Desrameaux. Friends and relatives may call at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S.
