MacInnis - Melissa
After a courageous battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Sunday, March 27, 2005. Melissa was the beloved partner of Ron Adams, she was 42 years old. Loving mother of Jenny Lea MacInnis and Jessie Lynn MacInnis both of North Bay and step mother of Jamie Adams and his wife Joanne Penasse of Garden Village. Loving daughter of June MacInnis (nee Friday) and the late Donald Campbell MacInnis. Lovingly remembered by her grandson Brogan. Dearly loved by her brothers Rick, Robert and his wife Barb, Donny and his friend Linda all of Bear Island and by her many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother Douglas. Melissa liked to spend time in the out of doors, where she devoted time hunting and fishing. A memorial Ceremony will be held in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall) on Friday, April 1st at 2:00 PM. Cremation with interment of ashes at Friday's Point.

MAJOR - Carmen
Suddenly at home, early last week, in her 49th year. Beloved sister of Roger, Madeleine, Suzanne, Donald, Patsy, Lorraine, Robert and Michelle. Predeceased by parents John and Marie and brother Patrick. In accordance with Carmen's wishes no visitation or service will be held. Cremation has taken place. Carmen will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Donations may be made to the CNIB.

SALIDAS - John Gus
A Miracle Survivor for over 30 years died unexpectedly, at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Thursday, December 9th, 2004. He was 74 years old. John was the beloved husband of Gladys Kosciuszko. Loving father of Anna and her husband Aurian Ouellette of North Bay. Lovingly remembered by his siblings Mary (Mrs. Peter Valerianos) of Montreal, Agnes Skafidas and her husband Bobby of Athens, Tim of North Bay, Adrienne Harvey and her husband John also of North Bay. Deceased by his sibling Bertha, Kay, Millie, Nick, Anna and Jean. John loved and was loved by all, especially his many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be sadly missed by his best friend Ernie Loukidelis. A true Gentleman, John worked for Barnes Wines for nearly 30 years, managing the stores on Main Street and then later in the North Bay Mall. He had been a member of the Widdifield Lions Club for many years. His kind-heartedness, wit and humour will be missed by all who knew and loved him. John always had a smile and a story to share with everyone.

John's family will receive friends in the Martyn Funeral Home (across from City Hall) on Monday from 2 -4 and 7 -9 PM. Funeral Services will be held from the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, December 14th, at 1:30 PM. Interment to follow at the Forest Lawn cemetery.

If desired, donations to the Heart & Stoke Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

AVERY - Margaret Jenet 'Peggy'
Peacefully on Saturday April 23, 2005 at Cassellholme. Peggy was born in North Bay on April 17, 1922. She was the beloved wife of the late Edgar Avery for over 60 years. Loving mother of Bruce (Marion) of Sault Ste. Marie, Nancy (Dan Nickless) of Sherkston, Janet (Phil Reid) of North Bay, Scott of North Bay, and Anne (Paul Gervais) of North Bay. Proud grandmother of Jennifer & Kristen Avery, Tina (Chris Aultman), Kevin Nickless (Corinna), Jason Reid (Michelle), Christina (Neil Reid), James, Jannah, & Justin Avery and Sarah & Amy Gervais. Great-grandmother of Melissa & April Aultman, Amanda and Jacob Nickless, Benjamin Reid and McKenzie Reid. Dear sister-in-law of Eva Leslie, Grace Hull, Eileen Purdon and Cliff White. She will be sadly missed by her cousins Peggy, Jean and Johnny of Hamilton, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Jack and Tom. Peggy was a dedicated wife and mother, neighbour and friend. She worked for the Nipissing Board of Education for 8 years, retiring in 1987. Peggy enjoyed many years of dedicated service to her community. She was an active member and volunteer of Laurier Avenue United Church; UCW, Girl Guides of Canada, Dr. McDougall Public School, Cassellholme Auxillary, the Canadian Club, and T.O. P.S. She will be lovingly remembered by her many friends. Peggy touched many lives through her love for people.

Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home today from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Laurier Avenue United Church. Interment at North Bay Union cemetery.

A donation to Laurier Avenue United Church or the Girl Guides of Canada - Camp Caritou would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

HAMMAR - Johan Magnus 'Jim'
After a lengthy illness at the North Bay General Hospital, McLaren Site on Friday November 9, 2001 in his 95th year. Jim emigrated to Canada from Finland in 1929 and worked for the ONR from 1930 to 1970. He also served with the RCAF from 1941 to 1945 and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br# 23. Dear husband of Olive. Loving father of Dale of Sault Ste. Marie, Bart of North Bay and Sonja Ware of Orillia. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Thomas Hopkins, Jeanine Hammar, Jeffrey Hopkins and Derrick Hammar and by his great grandchildren Zachary Hopkins, Travis Stoddart and Jason Hopkins. Jim is predeceased by his parents, four sisters and three brothers. A private family service was held today at the Martyn Funeral Home. Interment at the North Bay Union cemetery. If desired donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

EDWARDS - Audrey Millicent R.N.
December 15, 1915 – April 26, 2005
Audrey died peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital on Tuesday April 26, 2005. She was the loving sister of Mabel Sleeman of Cornwall and Lois Douglas(late Jon) of North Bay. Predeceased by her parents Mary-Ellen and Adam Thomas Edwards, seven sisters and one brother. Audrey was a wonderful, caring and nurturing aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. She had been battling health problems for the past five years and kept living life to the fullest right up to the end. She will always be remembered as "Audrey Edwards The Nurse”.

CHARETTE - Hilda
At the North Bay General Hospital, Mclaren Site on Wednesday, April 27, 2005. Hilda Alice Bailey, was the beloved wife of the late Philippe Honore Charette, she was in her 90th year. Loving mother of David of B.C., Diane Williams (James) of Milton, Connie Dolbeck of North Bay and Richard (Gloria) of North Bay. Sadly missed by grandchildren Kelly, Tracey, Mike, Vicki, Tara, Carol, John and Jeff and by great grandchildren Ashley, Taylor, MacKenzie, Alexander, Natasha, Jared and Caden. Survived by her siblings Doris Descheno and Raymond Bailey both of North Bay. Predeceased by her infant son Paul and son-in-law George Dolbeck. Thank you to the nursing staff of 3E and Dr. Carter for your care and compassion.

Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (Across from city hall) on Saturday from 10 to 11 am. Prayers will follow in the chapel at 11 am. Cremation to follow at the Forest Lawn Crematorium.

BYERS - Mary Jane
Peacefully at her home on Monday May 2nd, 2005, at the age of 62 years. Dearly loved mother of Laurie Oswald and Brenda St. Jean (Jim) both of North Bay and Mark Byers of Nipissing. Lovingly remembered by her ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her brothers Mike and Stanley, sisters Janet and Caroline, and her beloved friends Bob & Fran Corbeil.

Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Thursday May 5th from 1:00 p.m. until time for services in the chapel at 3:00 p.m.

PIDDINGTON - Ronald
Ron Piddington, passed away at Leisureworld in North Bay on Tuesday, May 2nd while in his 80th year after a courageous and frustrating battle with Parkinson's Disease. His wife Betty and his extended family, Bruce, Sandra, Chris, Jenifer and Jeff, plus grandchildren and great- grandchildren will forever hold him close. Ron was born in London England and served with WWII in the RAF as Flight Sergeant attached to a Wellington Bomber Crew. He came to Canada in 1956 to start a new life. Ron and Betty were the owners of The Frame Shoppe & Gallery on Avenue Road in Toronto and they became business partners as well as man and wife. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. .

A small reception for family and friends will be held on May 14th at their home in North Bay

BOLGER, (nee McKay) - Effie Elizabeth
passed away peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Tuesday May 3, 2005 in her 84th year. Born in Chalk River she moved to North Bay as a child. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas James Bolger. Survived by her children Mary Lynne Sammon and spouse Pat (Napanee), Dianne Libbey and spouse Edward (London, England), Jan Riley and spouse Ron (North Bay), Brent Bolger and spouse Darlene (Kingston) and Scott Bolger and spouse Jo-Ann (Newmarket). She is grandmother of 21 and great grandmother of 3. Sister to Verna of Toronto, Florence (deceased), Ken (deceased), Harriet (deceased), Dolly of Baysville and Floyd (deceased).

Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday at 11 am. Interment at St. Mary's cemetery.

FODOR - Joyce Hilda
Life long North Bay resident Joyce Hilda Fodor (nee Yorke) died at the North Bay General Hospital, on Friday May 6th, 2005 at the age of 90 years. Born in North Bay on February 11, 1915 Joyce was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Edgar Fodor, who predeceased her in 1982. Dearly loved mother of John (Barbara) of Maple Ridge, B.C., Joan Walker (Don) of Sudbury and Judy Burke (Steve) of Washago. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Krista Tovey (David Fisher), and Logan Burke, and her great granddaughter Katie. Predeceased by her brothers Jim and Ernie.

In accordance with her wishes no visitation or funeral services will be held. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium, Tower Drive.

MONTIGNY (nee Hoodley) - Shirley
passed away peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard site on Sunday May 8, 2005 at the age of 76 after a battle with cancer. Beloved wife of the late Leo J. Montigny. She will be sadly missed by her sons David (Pauline) of North Bay, Gene (Aline) of Kirkland Lake, Rene (Victoria) of Vancouver, Larry (Veronica) of Fort McMurray, Michael of North Bay and Wayne (Rose) of Woodstock. Will be sadly missed by her grandchildren James (Wendy), Lance (Sandy), Chad (Felicia), Kristina, Sarah, Spencer, Jacob and Jesse as well as her great-grandchildren Jaden, Ashton and Kapprice.

Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium.

FERGUSON - Shirley May
At the North Bay General Hospital, on Tuesday May 10th, 2005 while in her 69th year. Born in Goward, Ontario, Shirley was predeceased by her Mom & Dad the late Pearl& Robert James formerly of Callander. She will be sadly missed by her friends and family especially the Croghan family of which she became a special part of.

In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A grave side service for the committal of her ashes was held in the Nipissing Junction cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME.
