Shisko - Andrew
passed away peacefully at Cassellholme Home for the Aged, North Bay, on Monday, June 24, 2002 in his 95 th year. Born in Chorewa, Grodno, Belarus on August 16, 1906 to Andrew and Sophia (nee Stasevich). Beloved husband of the late Anna Oskirko and the late Fedosia Zuck. Dear father of Walter (wife Patricia) of Ottawa and Nina (husband Paul Romaniuk) of Sudbury. Lovingly remembered by his 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Dear step father of Eleanor (husband John Lipsett) of Deep River and Edward Dobenko (wife Margaret) of Pembroke. Dear brother of Stephen (wife Sheila) of North Bay, Roger of Elliott Lake and Vera Tregaskes of Vancouver, BC. Predeceased by brothers Frederick and William, Nicholas (wife Marion), Alexander (wife Wilma) and Julia (husband James Dool). Andrew was a long time employee of Ontario Hydro. He will be remembered with love by his many nieces and nephews and the staff and friends at Cassellholme. His witty and insightful commentary on any and all subjects will be greatly missed. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home today from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral services to celebrate Andrew’s life will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel, 464 Wyld Street, on Thursday June 27th, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. Cremation will follow with interment of ashes in Forest Lawn cemetery.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson’s Society will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

Campbell (nee Fournier) - Patricia Jean
passed away peacefully at home on Saturday February 2, 2002 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Richard. Cherished mother of Amy and Sarah. Born in Chapleau, Ont. October 2, 1952. Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Doris Fournier. Loving sister of Phillip Fournier, Phyllis Bertrand (Bill) and Beverly Fournier (Walt). Daughter-in-law of Marion and the late Ron Campbell. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home this evening from 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 301 Main St. East. on Tuesday at 11 am.

Donations to the North Eastern Regional Cancer Centre or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

SMITH - Mary Helen
Mary Helen Smith passed away at the Empire Living Center, North Bay on Monday, June 17, 2002 after a long struggle with cancer. Born in Wellesley Township on December 2, 1910, Helen Hinchley grew up in Stratford, Ontario, where she worked for Kroehler's Furniture and took part in the famous 1934 furniture workers' strike. She married William Henry Smith and they moved to North Bay when he got a job in the shops of the Ontario Northland Railway. Helen and Bill spent most of their married life in Ferris where they raised two daughters, Janet L. Morton, M.A., who died in 1990, and Lucille, who died in infancy. Helen was widowed in 1975 and lived at 182 Worthington East and later in the Empire Living Centre. She will be lovingly remembered by her son-in-law, Desmond Morton, her grandchildren, David William and Marion Catherine, and by her many friends. At Mrs. Smith's request, no funeral service will take place.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Victorian Order of Nurses would be appreciated.

ROY - William Omer '"Willie"'
At the North Bay General Hospital, McLaren Site, on Friday June 28, 2002, at the age of 77 years. William Omer "Willie" Roy, beloved husband of Marceline Roy (nee Vachon). Dear father of Diane Bellaire (Don) of Montreal, Evelyn Ranger (Rene) & Susan Palangio (Peter) both of North Bay and Donald (friend Edna MacKintosh) of Coppercliff. Lovingly remembered by his 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter Stella Hart, formerly of Cornwall, his parents Eugene and Georgina Roy, brothers John, Lawrence, Albert, Percy, Ernest, Carl and Maurice; and his sisters Adele, Leona, Mabel, and Lydia. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m on Tuesday at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnessess (1120 Premiere Road). Interment to follow at the cemetery of Jehovah's Witnesses in Chiswick, Ont.

ROONEY - Claire
Peacefully at home, on Tuesday, July 2, 2002. Claire Kennedy, was the beloved wife of the late Donald Elder "Mickey" Rooney, in her 80th year. Loving mother of Karen and her husband Michael Montcalm of North Bay, John Rooney and his wife Deb of Shelburne, Vermont and Peter Rooney and his wife Laurie of North Bay. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kadrienne, Kane, Maggie, Jack, Jimmy and Tegan. Fondly loved sister of John Kennedy and sisters in law Anna, Noretta and Doris. Predeceased by her parents W.K.P. and Caroline Kennedy and by her brothers Elliott "Red", Bill and Peter. Claire's family and friends will gather for a Memorial Service at St. Andrew's United Church, on Thursday, July 4th, at 11:00 am. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium, Tower Drive, North Bay. Her ashes will be interred with her husband Mickey, in the Kennedy Family Plot at Terrace Lawn cemetery. Claire's family would like to thank all those family and friends, as well as the Paramed, Homecare and the Red Cross that allowed her to remain at home, near her beloved garden and caring loved ones. If desired, donations to the NEO Regional Cancer Centre Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

ZEHR - Dale David
Entered into rest at the North Bay General Hospital - McLaren Site, on Friday, July 5th, 2002. Dale was born on October 28, 1942 in South Easthope. He was the dear son of Oliver and Ada Zehr of Kitchener. He is loving remembered by his sister Judy Gildemeester, by John Gildemeester and by his nephew and niece Robert & Laura. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Kitchener.

BERNHARDT - Karl
He died as he lived, with courage and dignity, at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Thursday July 25, 2002 in his 76th year. Cherished husband of Klara (nee Kiefer). Loving father of Herb (Donna) of Sault Ste. Marie and Gerlinde (Dan Davis) of North Bay. Dear Poppa of Erika Vaillancourt (Pierre), Jessica, Melissa and Adam Bernhardt, Kevin Davis (Maya Bevan) and Sean Davis (Kathryn). Also missed by great grandchildren Kiefer and Liam Vaillancourt. A celebration of Karl's life will be held at the Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday at 1 pm.

His greatest joy in life was his family, and he was treasured in return.

Suddenly at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Saturday July 27, 2002 in his 49th year. Dear husband of Marilyn. Loving father of Shauna and Tammy both at home. Survived by his mother Marion, sister Susan (Ian) and brother Marc all of Stratford. Lovingly remembered by niece Heather, nephews Michael and Scott, and close friends Herb St.George, Matt Rowley, Joan, Paul and Sarah Abbott, Natalie and Taylor Olsen. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Emmanuel United Church on Wednesday at 11 am. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn cemetery.

HEWITT - Nellie Mae
passed away at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Saturday July 27, 2002, in her 100th year. Dearly beloved wife of the late William L. Hewitt, whom she married on October 31, 1934. Loving mother of James "Jim" and his wife Irma of North Bay. Nellie will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren; Leigh (wife Sandra) of Kelowna, B.C., Mark (wife Nancy) of North Bay, Wm. "Bill" (wife Lauri), of Powassan, Kirk, and Karen Benoit (Guy) of North Bay and her great grandchildren Dawn, Ryan, Nicholas, Courtney, Adam, Sheena, Allecia and Lianne. Dear sister of Laura Grigg, aunt of Joan Grigg, Kenneth Grigg all of Goderich, and Allan Grigg of Bayfield & Ted Grigg of London. She was predeceased by her husband on August 5, 1989 and her parents the late Frederick & Margaret Mugford (nee Wormley). Nellie was a dedicated member of Laurier Ave. United Church, a member of the Catherine Gibson Unit, UCW and a 70-year member of the Nipissing Rebekah Lodge # 152. A woman of grace and unselfish warmth she was respected and well liked within the community. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral home on Monday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral services to be held in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday at 2 pm. Cremation at Forest Lawn Crematorium, with interment of ashes in the Colborne Township cemetery , Goderich.

LITTLE - Jessie Winnifred
Died peacefully at Cassellholme, on Monday, July 29th, 2002. Jessie Winnifred Purdy, in her 82nd year, was the beloved wife of the late Arthur William Little. Loving mother of Keeling Little and his wife Marlene and Frank Little both of North Bay and Mary Hobbs and her husband Gord of Kitchener. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Matthew, Craig, Lynne and Bill, and her great grandchildren Nicholas, Chloe, Benjamin, Rowena and Alexander. Dearly loved sister of Franklin Purdy of Nova Scotia. Predeceased by her grandson Don Hobbs and her sisters Alice Brown, Dorothy Purdy and Hazel Marks. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home this evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday August 1st at 3:30 pm. CAMPBELL - Marjory
passed away at the North Bay General Hospital, McLaren Site, on Wednesday July 31. 2002, after a lengthy illness. Marjory Rothwell, in her 84th year, was the beloved wife, for the past 60 years, of Gordon Campbell. Dearly loved mother of Bruce (wife Christine) of Burks Falls, Alan (wife Linda) of North Bay, Glen (wife Ruth) of Sutton, Norman (wife Marian) of Moose Jaw, Sask., and Lorraine and her husband Pierre Cliche of Brampton. Marjory will be lovingly remembered by her 13 grandchildren and her 3 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Reita Rothwell of Toronto, and Irvin Rothwell of Mississauga. Predeceased by her sister Evelyn Beaton. At Marjory's request no visitation. Cremation at the Forest Lawn Crematorium. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in Laurier Ave. United Church on Monday August 19th, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. Interment of ashes in Union cemetery.

ALKINS - Nadine 'Dean'
passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 31, 2002 at Lady Isabelle Nursing Home in Trout Creek. Survived by her sister Betty and brother George. Predeceased by brothers Aubrey, Jack, Wilmer (Buck), Stanley and Glen and by sisters Lenore, Larraine and Patsy. Rest in peace Deanie. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

FINNIGAN (nee King) - Viola Alice
Suddenly at the North Bay General Hospital on Saturday August 3rd, 2002 at the age of 82 years. Viola Alice King was the beloved wife of the late Adam Perley Finnigan who predeceased her on January 13, 2002. Dearly loved sister of Mrs. Myrtle Miller (Bill predeceased), Mrs. Evelyn Robertson (Ross predeceased), Jean Andrews (Fred), and Jack King (Cathy), all of North Bay, Mrs. Inez Sweet (Jim) of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia and Mrs. Carroll Cawker (Art) of Peterborough. Sadly missed by her sister in law Noreen King of North Bay, and brother-in-law Jack Manahan. Viola was predeceased by her parents the late Ernest King and his wife the former May Wood, her brothers Don & Alvin her sister Mabel Manahan. Viola's family will receive friends at the Martyn Funeral Home today from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.. Funeral services will be held in Calvin Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, August 7th, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Terrace Lawn cemetery.

WRIGHT (nee Davidson) - Noreen Isabelle
(October 18, 1911 - August 7, 2002) passed away peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, she was the beloved wife of the late George Wilbur Wright (he was the former Postmaster at Parry Sound and later North Bay). Noreen was employed on the switchboard with NORAD in North Bay from 1962 until her retirement in 1976. Dearly loved sister of Lenore (Judy) of Galt, Jack and his wife Doreen of Holland Landing and Paul and his wife Grace of Lindsay. Lovingly remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her bother Harry and his wife Edna. Following the cremation, Noreen's ashes will be interred with her parents. A Graveside service will be held at the Mountainview cemetery (Blair Road, Cambridge "Galt") on Saturday August 24th at 2:00 PM. After the graveside service a time of fellowship and refreshment will be held in the Coutts & Son Funeral Home (96 St.Andrews Street Cambridge "Galt").

The family would like to thank the caring staff at the North Bay General Hospital and the many loyal friends who maintained regular contact with her over many years and especially those in North Bay who assisted her in remaining at home until her recent hospitalization.
