CLIFFORD - Rhona May
passed away on Sunday May 25, 2003 at Leisureworld. Rhona was born on December 31, 1923 in Timmins, Ontario. She is survived by her daughter Jane Mathieu (Ron), and son Paul Clifford (Joanne); her grandchildren Blair Behe, Thomas Behe, Michelle Mathieu, Joshua Clifford, and Amanda Clifford; and great-grandchildren Maya McKever and Westly Gravelle. Cremation will take place with a private family service in Cranbrook, B.C. We would like to thank the staff on the 3rd floor at Leisureworld for all their excellent care, and to mom's very special friend Joan Boyd.

SHORT - Terry
Funeral services for Terry Short were held in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel on Monday May 26, 2003 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Bob Robinson officiating. Interment followed at the Forest Lawn cemetery , Tower Drive. Pallbearers for Terry were her sons Michael and Daniel Short, George Pelletier, Debbie Duhamel, Carrie-Ann Grawbarger and Carman Irwin. Terry died peacefully at North Bay General Hospital-Scollard Site on Friday May 23, 2003. She was the beloved wife of Donald Short, in her 56th year. She was the loving mother of Danny and Michael Short. Dear daughter of Mrs. Phyllis Arseneault, and sister of George Pelletier (Susan) of Michigan, Yvon Grawbarger (the late Glen) of Restoule; half-sister of Rodney Bernier of Vancouver, Michael of Crawley, England, and Jack of South Hampton, England. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.

March 21, 1932 - June 3, 2003 At North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Tuesday June 3, 2003. Predeceased by her husband, the late Harry Stewart in 1978. Sadly missed by her friend and companion Jack Etches. Loving mother of Lee Seguin, Peggy Cook (Richard), Randy Stewart, Cathy Robinson (Dan), Larry Stewart (Lee), Linda Johnsten, Patrick Stewart, Sandra Dermann (Paul) and Terry Luckey (Ashley). Also missed by 23 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Leona and Patrick Allard and by a brother Larry Allard. Survived by brothers James and Victor Allard and sisters Bonnie Kowbuz and Lynn Caley. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) today from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday at 11 am. Interment to follow at the North Bay Union cemetery.

Sadly missed by grandchildren Laara Jane Dool, Curtis Dool, Melynda McLeod, Elijah McLeod and William McLeod and by great grandchildren Malakhy and Leda Shabogesic. PARTRIDGE - Diane Louise
Peacefully passed away at home Friday June 13, 2003 surround by her family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a life time resident of North Bay and will be fondly remembered for her warm smile and gentle heart. She was the loving wife of James Partridge. Mother of Randy Partridge (Nancy), Cindy Scarfone (Nunzio) all of North Bay, and Todd Partridge (Linda) of Buford, Georgia. Diane will be missed and lovingly remember by her grandchildren Shannon and Jason Partridge, Karla and Jessica Scarfone and Gates Partridge. She will be greatly missed by her brothers and sister-in-law, many family members and friends and remembered for her kindness and generosity. She was a longtime active member of St. John's Anglican Church and was a tireless worker with the Chancel Guild. She was a loyal friend to all who knew her. Diane worked on the switchboard, and as a scheduler for the operators at Bell Canada in the mid 1950's. She retired from Bell to stay at home and raise her family. In the 1980's she returned to work at the ONR as an operator and receptionist, joining Jim in retirement in the mid 1990's. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Trenker and Dr. Low, Palliative Care of North Bay General Hospital and Para-Med. It was care each provided in concert with the support and caring of many family and friends that made it possible for Diane to remain in the comfort of her home with her family during her illness. The family will welcome family and friends at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Sunday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in St. John's Anglican Church on Monday June 16th, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow with interment of ashes in St. John's Anglican cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the North Bay General Hospital Foundation or the N.E.O. Regional Cancer Center Foundation.

PEARSON (nee Hamilton) - Jewel
1955 – 2003 Jewel passed away peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Tuesday May 20th, 2003. Dearly loved daughter of Len Hamilton and the late Jean Hamilton. Loving mother of Bradley. Jewel will be sadly missed by her sister Sharon Aloian (Ken) of St. Catherines. She was a special aunt to Lisa and Molly. She will be lovingly remembered by her many aunts, uncles and cousins. No visitation. Cremation has taken place at Forest Lawn Crematorium. A private family committal service will be held in Callander Union cemetery.

BEAULIEU - Nancy
Borrowed angel Nancy Beaulieu died peacefully at her home in Redbridge on Saturday June 14th, 2003, with her husband Robert at her side. Nancy will be lovingly remembered by Robert, her mother Eleanor Phyllis Lidkea, her sister Eleanor and her brother Ron Lidkea all of North Bay. She was predeceased by her father Elmer Lidkea and father in law Fernand Beaulieu. Dear daughter in law of Mrs. Ione Ion of North Bay and dear sister in law Suzanne McKenzie (Maurice) of Bear Island, Cecile Belaney (Thomas) of North Bay, Theresa Labelle (Terry) of Kirkland Lake and Donna Kemp (Lance) of Winfield, B.C. Nancy will be sadly missed by the staff and clients at F.J. Dellandrea Place where she has worked as an instructor for the past twenty- five years. She will also be fondly remembered by her friends Cathy and Steve Boyle of North Bay. In accordance with her wishes no visitation or funeral services will be held. Cremation has taken place at Forest Lawn Crematorium and her ashes will be interred at a later date.

Was ushered into the presence of His Lord, at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Friday August 1, 2003 in his 74th year. Dear husband of Cecile. Loving father of Tim (wife Lisa) and Jane Winram (husband Bob). Sadly missed by his granddaughter Sydney Winram. Survived by his sisters Joy Wraight, Irene Andersen and Maxine Hawman. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Pearl and by his brothers Max and Harold. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Greenwood Avenue Baptist Church on Tuesday at 1 pm. Interment to follow at the Boxwell cemetery in Chisholm.

FREEBORN - Robert Beatty
After a brief illness, at the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site, on Friday August 1, 2003 at the age of 38 years. Robert Beatty Freeborn was the beloved son of Elmer Freeborn of Chapleau and his wife the late Christina (Beatty). Dear brother of Margaret Watts and her husband John of Ottawa. No visitation. Cremation at Forest Lawn Crematorium (Tower Dr.). Rev'd. Murray Arnill will conduct a private family memorial service in the Martyn Funeral Home. Interment of ashes in the Chapleau cemetery.

KING - John "Jack"
At the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Wednesday July 2, 2003. Dear husband of Catherine. Loving father of Jeff and David King both of North Bay. Sadly missed by grandchildren Jennifer, Christopher, Emily, Letittia and Lindsey. Dearly loved brother of Myrtle (Mrs. Bill Miller), Evelyn (Mrs. Ross Robertson), Jean Andrews and her husband Fred, Inez Sweet and her husband Jim of Nova Scotia and Carroll Cawker and her husband Art of Peterborough.. Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Mae King, by his sisters Mable Manahan, Viola Finnigan and by his brothers Don and Alvin King. Fondly remembered by his sister in law Noreen King of North Bay and brother in law and Jack Manahan of Toronto. PITT - Robert
Pitt Robert in his 37th year surrounded by his loving family and following a brief illness at the North Bay General Hospital. He will be sadly missed by his loving son, John Andrew and his beloved Mother Jeanette, stepfather Fred, brothers John (Krista), Kenneth and sisters Christine Carisse (Alan), Cindy Turgeon (Rick), Sandy (Denis) and grandparents Betty and Jim Laskey and many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Robert’s family will receive friends in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across for City Hall) on Tuesday July 8th, from 12noon till time for services in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM. Interment at Forest Lawn cemetery.

SHORTT - David Jonathan
Suddenly in his 20th year on Monday July 7, 2003. Lovingly remembered by his parents Ronald and Karen, his brother Jesse and sisters Erin Shortt and Lori Dewey (husband Scott). David will also be sadly missed by his nieces Devanee and Danika, his fiance Adrianna Yannaco and his grandmother Kay Ranger. A private family funeral service will be held at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME. HOWE - WAYNE DONALD
, At the Sudbury General Hospital surrounded by family on Wednesday July 16, 2003 in his 60th year. Dear husband of Donna. Loving father of Danny (wife Jennifer deGraauw) of North Bay and Laurie Bonnell (husband Michael) of North Bay. Sadly missed by grandchildren Emma and Adam Howe and Erik Bonnell. Survived by his mother Gertrude and his sister Carol Bartlett (husband Bob). Predeceased by his father Lawrence.

The funeral service was held at St. Andrew’s United Church today at 11 am. Interment at the North Bay Union cemetery. CARPENTER - CHARLES GEORGE '(CHUCKIE)'
At the North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site on Thursday July 17, 2003. Dear husband of Evelyn. Predeceased by his first wife Bertha St. Pierre. Loving father of Kenneth Carpenter (wife Jutta) of West Bank, B.C., Ronnie Carpenter of North Bay, Sheila Johnston (husband Robert) of Minnesota, Terry Carpenter of Eldee, Audrey Bingham (husband Andrew) of Brampton, Linda Sansom (husband Lorne) of Alliston, Wayne Edmunds (wife Frances) of Redbridge, Richard Dixon (wife Marilyn) of Brockville and George Dixon (wife Beverly) of Redbridge. Sadly missed by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr Carpenter enlisted in the Canadian Armed forces in 1941 and volunteered for the Special Services, graduating as a parachutist. He served with the First Canadian Parachute Battalion, Allied Airborne Corps, 6th British Airborne Division and saw action in France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He also spent some time in Ringway Experimental Airbase in England. On discharge from the armed service in 1945, he moved to Cache Bay, Ontario and left there to work as a diamond driller and powder man at Deep River. On June 16th, 1947, he started to work for the C.I.P. in Temiscaming on a 4 to 12 shift at the 16 foot barker. In 1961 he was transferred to repair and maintenance. "Charlie” was a union member for 33 years and served as a shop steward, trustee, and 1st vice president, and was elected as president of Local 233 Canadian Paperworkers Union in 1968. In 1973 he was the first union man permitted by an order of the Quebec government to be on the board of directors of a company. During the mill closure, as local union president, Mr Carpenter worked on various committees to help reopen the mill. He retired from Tembec as labour relations superintendent. After his retirement he remained active at Tembec as an industrial relations consultant.

Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from city hall) on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday at 2 pm. Interment Temiscaming cemetery.
