Dorothy Catherine Garland

1921- 2003

Peacefully in Kingston General Hospital, following a short illness, on February 15, 2003. Beloved wife of John Garland. Dear mother of Nancy (Peter) Keith, William (Jane) Garland, and Murray Garland all of British Columbia. Fondly remembered by six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late John and Kathleen (Major) Whitney. Survived by her dear sister Barbara Stethem of Prescott. Predeceased by sisters Rosemary Prophet, Stella Whitney, Theresa Champagne, and brothers James and Robert.

In remembrance, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. At her request, a private funeral will be held at the Roselawn Tribute Centre, Maitland. Following cremation, interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville.

Paul Parish

1938- 2003

On Sunday, February 16, 2003 at the Brockville General Hospital after a brief illness; Paul Douglas Browne Parish at the age of 64 years. Loving son of Mrs. Doris Parish of Mallorytown and the late Mortimer Parish. Beloved husband of Jane, and dear father of Kim Driscoll (Barry) of Peterborough, and Lesley White (David) of Brockville. Step-father of Paul vanReede (Susan) of Kitchener, and Susan Pardue (Brian) of Germany. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Mattie, Lucy, Andrew, Annie, Brandon and Olivia.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Monday, February 17th from 6-8pm and Tuesday after 10am. In celebration of Paul's life a ceremony will be held in the Chapel at 11am on Tuesday, February 18th. Reverend June Craig will officiate. Cremation to follow at the Roselawn Tribute Centre and Crematorium, Maitland. In remembrance, donations to CHEO or the charity of choice will be gratefully acknowledged.

John Raymond Secord

1940 - 2003

At the Brockville General Hospital on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 after a lengthy illness at the age of 62 years. Beloved husband of Geraldine (O'Grady) Secord. Loving father of Lorie of Brockville, Linda of Toronto and Susan (and Bob) of Ottawa. Also survived by his step-brother Jack Hobbs, his mother-in-law Mrs. Marcella O'Grady; brothers-in-law Lawrence, Robert and Chris O'Grady; sister-in-law Rosemary Paul; and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Kenneth Secord, by his mother Germaine Hobbs, his step-father Donald Hobbs, and father-in-law Gerald O'Grady.

At John's request there will be no visitation. A private Funeral Liturgy and reception will be held in the Chapel of the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville, on Monday, February 24th. Interment St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. In remembrance, donations to the Hospice of Providence Palliative Care or the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged.

Joseph Alfred Benoit (Fred) Blain

1914 - 2003

At the Brockville General Hospital on Tuesday, February 18, 2003. Son of the late Justine Nystrom and Raoul Blain. Beloved husband of the late Doris Kathleen Gifford. Dear father of Justine and her husband Robert Lawson and Darlene Edgell all of Brockville. Loving grandfather to Blain and his wife Heather Lawson of Toronto, Robin and her husband Daniel Garvey, Cheryl and her husband Keith Bulmer all of Nepean and Shawn Edgell of Vancouver B.C. He also leaves six great grandchildren Joseph and Jake Garvey, Garrett and Hannah Bulmer of Nepean, Corey Edgell of Vars and Taylor Michaud of Cornwall. Mr Blain is also survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mary Blain, Betty and her husband Hubert Shaw, Evelyn Gifford, Vivian Gifford, Oscar Gifford, and George and his wife Donna Gifford all of Brockville. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mr Blain was predeceased by his mother Justine in 1922, his father Raoul in 1949, his wife Doris in 1989, grandson Troy in 2000 and son-in-law Carl Edgell in 1995, also by his brothers Leopold and Gerard and sisters Theresa Tardiff, Bernadette Blanchard and Jacqueline Dillabough.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. The celebration of the Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church on Saturday at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. In remembrance, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

Reginald William Burton

1919 - 2003

Entered into rest at the Brockville General Hospital on Wednesday, February 19th, 2003. Reginal William Burton, in his 84th year. Mr. Burton is survived by his children, Cathy TeKamp (Ben) of Brockville and Rick Burton (Mary) of Ottawa. His beloved wife and partner of 53 years, Margaret Elizabeth Burton, predeceased him in 1997 as well as his youngest son, Dr. John Burton (Faith) in 1992. Mr. Burton is mourned by his granddaughter Robin TeKamp McElrea (Greg) of Brockville who provided loving care and attention to her papa Burton, and his grandson Mark of Halifax, who made papa Burton laugh until the end and also survived by granddaughters Sarah Burton of London and Jenny Burton of Toronto. Fondly remembered by his daughter-in-law Dr. Faith Silver.

At Mr. Burton's request, there will be no formal visitation or ceremony. A private family committal service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland. Friends are invited to a reception at the Roselawn Tribute Centre, Maitland on Friday from 2-4 pm to celebrate the gift of both Marg and Reg Burton in our lives. In memory of Reg, donations to the Trinity Anglican Church or the Alzheimer Society of Leeds & Grenville would be gratefully acknowledged. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville.

Earle William Richards

1916 - 2003

At the Sherwood Park Manor, Brockville on Thursday, February 20, 2003 at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband of Phyllis Marguerite Richards. Loving father of Rosanne Richards, Robert Richards (Donna) and John Richards all of Brockville. Dear grandfather of Sean and Kristen Richards. Brother of Ruby Gray (Lawrence) of Nova Scotia. Fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law Sylvia Richards of Halifax and Pearl Webster of Brockville and by his brother-in-law Bernard Briand of Nova Scotia. Predeceased by his brothers Stadford and David Richards.

A private family ceremony and reception will be held at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville. Cremation and interment will take place at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Tribute Centre and Crematorium, Maitland. In remembrance, donations to the Sherwood Park Manor or Trinity Anglican Church would be gratefully acknowledged.

Francis J. "Frank" Donaghue

1923 - 2003

At the Brockville General Hospital on Monday, February 24, 2003. Francis Joseph Donaghue in his 80th year. Beloved husband of Noreen (Reid) and loving father of Tom Donaghue and Paula Donaghue and her special friend Robin Cardinal all of Brockville. Dear brother of Mary H. Donaghue and James "Irish" Donaghue (Mary) both of Brockville. Also survived by his sister-in-law Mary L. Donaghue and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth Donaghue and brother Ignatius (Nick).

The Liturgy of the Christian Funeral will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Church on Wednesday at 10 am. Interment will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Officers and Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 96 will hold the Legion Tribute on Tuesday at 7 pm. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council 1049 will gather for fraternal prayers on Tuesday at 7:30 pm. In remembrance, donations to the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or A.L.S. Society would be gratefully acknowledged.

Richard Glover

1931 - 2003

At the Brockville General Hospital on February 25, 2003 in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of the late Beulah Fraser Glover. Dear father of Judy McDonald (Bruce) of Brockville, Steve of Ottawa and David Glover (Cathy) of Prescott. Loving grandfather of Renee, Sheena and Michael McDonald and Ryan, Shannon, Scott and Kevin Glover. Also survived by a brother -in-law William Fraser (Betty) of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents Richard Glover and Mina (Peggy) Gibson, and by brother John G. Glover.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held in the chapel on Friday at 11 am. Cremation will follow at the Roselawn Crematorium and Tribute Centre, Maitland. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery on Saturday March 1, at 11 am. In memoriams to the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.

Agnes Gardner Smith

1898 - 2003

Peacefully on February 18, 2003 at the age of 104 years; Agnes Gardner Smith (nee Ferguson) of Prescott, a native of Scotland. Wife of the late Robert Smith. Beloved mother of Margaret Humphreys and her husband Alvin of Brockville and Stewart Smith of Scotland. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceased by three brothers and one sister.

A private funeral service will be held at the Roselawn Tribute Centre, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland, on Saturday, March 1st. Revered Ian MacLean of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Prescott, will officiate. Cremation will follow at the Roselawn Crematorium and final interment will be in Scotland. In remembrance, donations to the S. P. C. A. of Leeds and Grenville will be gratefully acknowledged.

Beryl E. Snider

1925 - 2003

Peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, February 27, 2003 at the Brockville General Hospital; Beryl Eileen (Edwards) Snider at the age of 77 years. Wife of the late Morris Snider. Loving mother of Ronald (Christine) of Stouville, Pat (Keith McLaughlin) of Brockville, Caroline (Rick Green) of Smiths Falls, David (Mary) of Perth, Robert of Thunder Bay, Michael (Sandy) of Athens, George (Carrie) of Gananoque, Stephen (Shelley) of Charleston Lake, Larry, Beverley (Randy Wichers), and Kimberly (Tom) all of Brockville, and Barrie (Cathy) of Kingston. Fondly remembered by thirty grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also survived by her brother Arthur Edwards of England and her sister Joan Mantika of Edmonton. Predeceased by her parents John and Elizabeth Edwards and by her brother Ron Edwards.

In celebration of Beryl's life a ceremony will be held in the Chapel on Monday, March 3rd at 11am. Interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery. In remembrance, donations to the Diabetes Association or the Lung Association will be gratefully acknowledged.

Eunice McCready

1928 - 2003

Peacefully at the Brockvillle General Hospital on Friday, February 28, 2003; Eunice Eileen (Kelsey) McCready, in her 75th year. Beloved wife of Floyd McCready and dear mother of Barbara McCann both of Brockville. Loving grandmother of Sarah and Timothy. Sister of Milton, Ian and Esther Kelsey. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by three infant daughters.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. The family will also receive friends at the Highway Pentecostal Church on Wednesday from 12:30pm until the time of the funeral service in the Church at 1:30pm. Interment will take place in the spring at Sand Bay Cemetery, Lansdowne. In remembrance, donations to the Hospice of Providence Palliative Care or the Highway Pentecostal Church will be gratefully acknowledged.
