Dorothy Hitsman

1908 - 2003

Entered into rest at the Sherwood Park Manor on August 18, 2003 in her 96th year. Wife of the late Ward Lemon Hitsman. Dear mother of Gerry Hitsman and his wife Ruby of Brockville. Cherished grandmother of Linda Hudson (Bill) of Spencerville and Cathy Casselman of Brockville. Great grandmother to Kayla. Predeceased by sisters Enid Froats, Evelyn Dukelow, and Pauline Reid and brothers Roswell and Percival Cooke.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Thursday after 1 o'clock until 3 pm when services will be held in the Chapel. Cremation will folow at the Roselawn Crematorium, Maitland. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery at a later date. In memoriams to the Sherwood Park Manor will be gratefully acknowledged.

Helen May Kirkland

1912 - 2003

Peacefully at St. Lawrence Lodge, Brockville on August 20, 2003 at the age of 91 years. Beloved wife of the late Arden Kirkland. Dear mother of Joan Nowlan (Lorne), Rhea Good (Allan) and Kenneth (Barbara) of Brockville, and Sharon Gardiner (Dale) of Maitland. Fondly remembered by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, a son William, brothers Gordon, Garnet, Arthur and Herbert Tanney and sisters Eva Bonner, Evelene Fennell, Dorothy Lloyd, Margaret Baile, Leona and Edith Sargent and Lula Rheuben.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Helen's life will be held in the chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow at Read's Cemetery. Donations to Read's Cemetery or St. Lawrence Lodge will be gratefully acknowledged.

Nina Evelyn Allen

1923 - 2003

Peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital on Tuesday, August 26, 2003. Nina Evelyn Allen Jones at the age of 80 years. Wife of the late Nelson Allen Sr. Loving mother of Pat (Bill Hodgkinson) of Mallorytown and Douglas Allen of Lombardy. Dear grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Sister of Mary Davis of Mallorytown and Edna Spicer of Prescott. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Norman Jones and Eliza Jane Coad, her son Nelson Allen Jr., sister Clarissa Whalen, brothers Edwin, Clarence, Milton, Howard, Mansell, Joe, Ross and Melville Jones.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Thursday from 7-9 pm. Cremation will follow at the Roselawn Tribute Centre and Crematorium, Maitland. A graveside service and interment will take place at Forfar Cemetery on Saturday at 10:30 am. In remembrance, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully acknowledged.

Lucy Doris Williams

1921 - 2003

On Thursday, September 4, 2003 at the Brockville General Hospital at the age of 82 years. Doris Lucy Williams (nee LeClair) of Lyn; beloved wife of the late George Williams. Survived by her dear grandsons Steve Earl & his wife Linda, and Shawn Earl and by great grandchildren Dustin and Taylor Earl. Fondly remembered by her niece Doris Giffin. Predeceased by her daugher Dorothy Earl, and by her sister Dorothy Giffin.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville. There will be no visitation. Following cremation at the Roselawn Crematorium, Maitland, a family graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery. In remembrance, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged.

Norman Leslie Sterritt

1921 - 2003

Retired Chief of Police, City of Brockville. Peacefully on September 17, 2003 at the Hospice of Providence, Brockville at the age of 82 years. Beloved husband of Shirley (Miller) Sterritt, and loving father of David Sterritt & his wife Elizabeth of Richmond, Thomas Sterritt and his friend Louise of Hull, Susan Dwyre & her husband Chris and William Sterritt and his wife Erryn all of Brockville. Fondly remembered by nine grandchildren. Predeceased by sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Smith, Margaret Keetch and Ruby Sterritt, and by his brother William Sterritt.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Monday September 22 at 2 o'clock. Cremation will take place at the Roselawn Tribute Centre and Crematorium, Maitland, followed by interment at Oakland Cemetery at a later date. In remembrance, donations to the Hospice of Providence Palliative Care or charity of choice will be gratefully acknowledged.

Shirley Jean Loucks (nee Pruner)

1951 - 2003

At the Brockville General Hospital on September 20, 2003 in her 52nd year. Dear daughter of Floyd Pruner and the late Doris Weagant. Beloved wife of Harry Loucks. Dear mother of Tracy Crawford (Brent) of Prescott and Sherry Nolan of Ottawa. Sister of Dwayne (Margaret) and Paul (Carolyn) Pruner all of Brockville, Robert (Emilie) Pruner of Finch, Stephen (Karen) Pruner of Maitland, Darryl (Sharon) Pruner of Metcalfe, Roger (Michelle) Pruner of North Augusta, Barbara Pape of Germany, Donna Larcombe (John) of Brockville, and Teresa White (Paul) of Calgary. Also survived by her stepmother Elizabeth Pruner of Cornwall as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may pay their respects at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 280 Ormond Street on Tuesday from 10am until 11 am when services will be held. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland. In memoriams to the Kidney Foundation will be gratefully appreciated.

Robert Kearney

1932 - 2003

Died at home with courage and dignity on Monday, September 22, 2003 at the age of 71, surrounded by his loving family. Survived by his best friend, his wife, the former Marjorie Mustard. He will be sadly missed by his beloved sons Rob (Joyce) of R.R. 2, Lyn, and Randy of R.R. 1, Brockville. Fondly remembered by grandchildren Brendan, Brock and Hannah. Loving brother of Sister Lucy Kearney, S.P. of Kingston, Michael (Sharon) of Athens, Patricia Burns (Bill) of Brockville and Frank of Ballycanoe. Predeceased by his parents Edmund and Veronica Kearney and a sister Helen in infancy. He will be missed by his nieces, nephews and cousins, and also by his many, many friends who brightened each and every day throughout his illness with their support and love.

1922 - 2003

Peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at the age of 81 years. Wife of the late Wilbur (Bill) Amonde and Gilbert Chapman. Loving mother of Beverly (Len) Shire of Amherstview, Veronica (Bob) Chapman and Winona (Don) Cooper all of Brockville. Fondly remembered by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dear sister of Edith Thornhill of Algonquin, Doreen Lewis of Brockville, Lloyd (Eva) Brown of Jasper, Donald (Muriel) Brown of Perth and James (Betty) Brown of Ottawa. Also survived by a sister-in-law Enid Brown of Jasper and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son William Amonde and by brothers Ernie and Keeble Brown.

King Sun Yip

Entered into rest at the Brockville General Hospital on September 26, 2003. Loving grandmother of Sueling Ching (Randy Jackson) of Brockville, Nancy Ching (David Hamilton) and Janie Ching all of Ottawa, and Kristopher Ching of Brockville. Predeceased by her only son Lenny Ching.

On September 14, 2003 at the St. Vincent de Paul Hospital, Brockville; the former Eileen Elizabeth Cleaver at the age of 85 years. Wife of the late William Gordon McVey and loving mother of Wayne McVey of Brockville. Predeceased by her brother Maurice Cleaver.

Private arrangements were entrusted to the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville with interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Maitland. In remembrance, donations to the Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged.

Janet Mowder

1913 - 2003

Entered into rest at the Sherwood Park Manor, Brockville on Tuesday, September 30, 2003 in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Clarence Nelson Mowder. Dear mother of Sidney Mowder (Betty) of Wasaga Beach, Doreen Peacock (Doug) of R. R. 1, Lyn and James Mowder (Janice) of Port Dalhousie. Also survived by ten grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by Don Thompson of Brockville. Predeceased by a son Ken Mowder and by a brother Sid Bull.
