Francis, Edward Dennis 1923-2010

FRANCIS, Edward Dennis
passed away peacefully in his 88th year Monday September 13, 2010 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Beloved husband and soul mate of Shirley –nee Thomas. Dearest father of Michele (Kelsey) Andrea (Jim). Much loved grandpa of Taylor-ann, David and Andrea and Dana and Devon. He will be sadly missed by mother-in-law Kay Thomas – brother -in-laws, sister-in-laws, nephews and extended family in England and all the many friends who touched his life. Ted was a 30 year participant of the Terry Fox Run in support of cancer.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Ted's life will be held at a later date.

Franco, Saverio "Sam" 1923-2008

Peacefully, surrounded by his family at The Carpenter Hospice, Burlington on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the age of 84, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. Much loved father of Nick and Joanne (Kevin). Predeceased by his beloved wife Marian, son Daniel, father Nicola, and sister Carol. He will be dearly missed by his long-time companion Suzanne DeWilde. Dad enjoyed a long retirement from the LCBO, of which he was a Quarter Century Club member, and was an avid golfer. He leaves behind his mother Pasqualina, siblings Robert (Annie), Mary (Gerry), Lou (Denise), Vince (Sheryl), brother-in-law Al, nieces and nephews, and relatives and friends in Italy, Canada, and the U.S. Very special thanks to Suzanne for taking such wonderful care of dad during his illness, and to the Franco family for all of their help during this difficult time. Heartfelt thanks to dad's health care teams at The Carpenter Hospice, the Juravinski Cancer Centre, the CCAC and the volunteer drivers at the Canadian Cancer Society. It is with sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Carley on October 21st, 2009 in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Robert. Devoted mother of Carolyn and her husband Peter Gray and David and his partner Paul Loder. Cherished grandmother of Matthew, Bethany, Luke, and Rachel. Dear sister of Shirley, Marilyn and Karen. Carley will also be missed by her extended family and friends. Suddenly at McMaster University Hospital, Hamilton on November 6, 2008, age 51. Beloved eldest daughter of Joe and Joyce Moore. Loving mother of Matthew, Kathryn and Laura. Beloved granddaughter of Molly Moore of Bobcaygeon. Loved sister of Kathy Smith and Carolyn Moore. Will be missed by niece and nephews Jeff (Cathy), Alexxis, Nathan and Wesley Smith. Will be fondly missed by friends Kevin, Wendy, Mark and Wayne. Niece of Lois Personnic (late Paul), Lorna Campbell, Barbara Moore (late George) and Marjorie Bridgeman (Fred). Cousins Paul (Lucy), Elaine (Andrew), Gail (Les), Sandra (Dave), Shelley (Dave) and many other relatives. Frewin, Brian 1937-2009

Frewin, Brian Frederick 1937-2009 On January 22, 2009, at the age of 71, Brian suddenly passed away at the Ottawa University Heart Health Institute. A wonderful loving husband and dedicated, supportive father and grandfather. Brian is survived by and sadly missed by his wife Christine of nearly 48 years; beloved daughters Wendy Candler (Donald), Lori Dewar (Douglas); “Papa’s Angels”, much loved granddaughters Miranda and Calista; sister, Joan Doreen (Wilson), brother, Arthur Frewin (Linda); mother-in-law Margaret (Peggy) Williams; brothers –in-law Keith Fradgley, Craig Williams (Gisele), aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbours. Brian owned and operated Brian Frewin Real Estate and Appraisals Ltd. and was an active member of The Real Estate Association of Hamilton/Burlington for 42 years; The Ontario Association of the Appraisal Institute of Canada for 31 years; Brian was also a part-time driver for Will’s Motors Ltd. for many years; A former member of the R.C.M.P. and an employee of Stelco security. Throughout the years, Brian met and served many people with great pride. A gentle giant that could be counted on. The family would like to express their thanks to the McMaster University Fencing Team, Coaches, Doctors present, the Carlton University Swim Team, for their swift action at his side in Ottawa. Many thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at The Ottawa University Heart Health Institute for their caring and compassion. LANOSKY, Walter Nicholas

With great sorrow we announce the death of Walter on December 21, 2010 in his 81st year. Survived by his seven children: Diana (Dave Piche), Elizabeth Merz, Joanne (Rick MacFarlane), Victoria (Dave Misuk), Walter (Patricia Gowland), Mary (Fred Midgley), Larry (Tina) and their mother, Victoria Alexanders. “Gigi” to eighteen grandchildren, their partners and great-Gigi to ten. Also survived by his sisters, Mary (Peter Kislinski) and Sonia (late Bob Wira) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Samuel Lanosky – 1931, mother Ksenia Tyczynski (nee Karpa) – 1997, brother Nicholas Lanosky – 1952, and step-father John Tyczynski – 1968. Many thanks to all staff at Ridgeview Long Term Care Centre.

Peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family, on July 18, 2009, in her 85th year. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Cherished mother of Cathi Sturgess, Larry and Karen McGarr and Maureen and Rowland Verge. Adored Nana of Paul, Patrice, Sandra, Tina and Jenn. Beloved Great-Nana to Joshua, Mitchell, Camryn, Hunter and Andrew. The family wish to extend their thanks to the staff of St. Peter’s Hospital Palliative Care for all their care, compassion and support. Rogers, Dan 1919-2009

Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Wednesday March 11th at St. Joseph’s Hospital in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Eileen for 66 years. Devoted father of Angela (Raymond) and Sylvia (Cam). Loving Grandad to Andrew (Linda), Aimee (Dave), Stephen (Lindsay), Danny (Michelle), Sarah (Luis). Cherished Great-Grandad to Meagan, Isabelle, Brendan, Alexandre, Hayden, and Simon. Dan will be sadly missed by his sister Cissie and family in Ireland, England, Australia, and the U.S. During World War II, Dan served in the Royal British Navy with the submarine detection service before immigrating to Canada in 1954. Dan was an avid promoter of Irish culture as a past president of the Irish Canadian Club and as Chairman of the Hamilton Feis 1966 to 1978. He was a founding member of the North American Feis Commission. Dan was honored to be selected as Hamilton’s Irish Person of the Year in 1999. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 947 Rymal Rd. E. Loving wife of Tony and cherished step-mother to Nikki. Beloved daughter of Bob and Martha. Always loved and forever remembered by her sister Helen and her brother John and his wife Erika. Dear daughter-in-law of Kico and Vojda Gelmanovski and sister-in-law to Tina and Luke. Fondly remembered by her niece Vanessa, nephew Ryan and her many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Peacefully on October 8, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Victor Sr. Devoted and loving mother of Mary Burpee (Neil-predeceased), Vivian Lee (Brian), Lou (Marg) and Victor (Gisele). Adored grandmother of Linda, Gary, Tom, Maria, Lori, Mark, Rob, Sheena, Ron, Mike, Carrie, Vanessa and Kevin. Special great grandmother of Jeneil, Meghan, Jayson, Max, Cole, Marissa, Emma, Kurtis, Kiegan, Hailey, Holli, Joshua, Nathan and Zachary. Dear sister of Neives, Ann (Blackie) (Charlie), Dolores (Bob), Nevio and predeceased by Inez, Millie, Aldo and Leona. Sister in law of Rosa Di Tomaso and families. Roy, Claudette Anita 1939-2010

-For Those Who Love Time is Eternal- Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Claudette finally lost her battle with cancer at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, Hamilton. Claudette is predeceased by her husband Aurele and has now joined him in heaven. Her children Paul & Carole, Pauline & Denis and Diane & Tim will truly miss her, but know she is at peace. Her grandchildren Steven, Brian, Kevin, Cassie and Alexa have great memories of memere to cherish forever. Claudette also leaves behind her two brothers Aurele and Fern and dear brother-in-law Jules, many nieces & nephews and relatives in New Brunswick and Montreal. For those that have been beside the family during this journey, we hope and pray you will never underestimate our level of appreciation for your kindness and support. RUDDELL, Madelyn Ella McLeish B.A., died October 16,2010 dearly loved wife of the late Harry [Redd] Ruddell [1989]; dear mother of Dr. Valerie-Dawn and her husband The Rt. Rev. Dr. John Girhiny; beloved daughter of Girlie [1970]and Jack [1975]; much loved sister of Edmirel (Belle) McLeish and Elaine Murray. She also leaves dear nieces and nephews Bonnie (Bob) Mahlberg, Brian (Sandra) McLeish, Lynda Doiron, and Charlene (Dan) McCallum as well as grand nieces and nephews. Madelyn was a graduate of McMaster University in sociology and gerontology and was employed by the Victorian Order Of Nurses for 22 years. A past President of the Board of Volunteers and a member of the Board of Directors of the Hamilton Civic Hospitals, Madelyn was a docent with the Hamilton Art Gallery and a member of the Volunteer Committee. Her membership in the Women’s Canadian Club of Hamilton was a source of great satisfaction. Special thanks to Barbara Wilson, her loving and devoted special care giver. On Sunday October 24th, the family will honour Madelyn’s life with a visitation from 2:30 pm to 4 pm, a service of remembrance at 4:15 pm and a reception at 5:15 pm at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington (near the RBG). Internment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in West Hamilton will take place on Monday, October 25th at 11:30 am. If desired, donations to the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA, Theatre Aquarius (both of which Madelyn and Redd staunchly supported), the Hamilton Health Sciences, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, or the Victorian Order of Nurses would be appreciated.
“I have gone to join my darling husband whom I loved so dearly and who loved me with all his heart. It is ‘FOREVER’.”

Redd and Madelyn together again. May they now rest in peace.
