Berney, John Anthony 1953-2011

Berney, John Anthony

passed away peacefully in his 58th year, surrounded by his family and friends on January 17, 2011.

Much loved and cherished husband and best friend of Brenda. Father to Nicole, Alanna(Matt), Heather(Brandon), Greg. Papa to Alexis, Logan, Erynn, Kaleb and Chloe. Special Brother to Therese MacLean(Grant), Aileen Seeley(Norm), Anita Vecsey(Mark), Joe Berney(Marilyn), Catherine Carrigan(Michael) and Patrick Berney (Deceased). Favorite Uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

John retired from a 31 year career with the Hamilton Police Services. He also spent time working for Safety Seal Plastics, with his family, after retirement. John will be remembered for his love of motorcycles and riding his Harley with his wife and many great friends.

Visitations for John will be held at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Thursday January 20th from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm. Cremation has taken place. Grave side service will be held on Friday January 21st at 12:30 pm at Mount Hamilton cemetery.

A special thank you to Dr. Hunt and the nursing staff of the Jurivinski Hospital for their care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Christilaw, John Stewart "Jack" 1925-2011

After a brief illness, John Stewart Christilaw (Jack) passed in his 86th year on Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Milton District Hospital. Beloved husband to Dawn Ella Christilaw (Douglas) and loving father to Doug Christilaw (JoAnne) and Paul Christilaw (Gail) and grand daughter Katharine, he will be missed. John’s family includes sisters-in-law Mary Christilaw and Harma Douglas and nieces and nephews, who are saddened by his passing. John was predeceased by his sisters Jean and Mary, and his brother Nathan.

Following his service in the Air Force in WWII, John came home to complete his degree in dental surgery. His practice spanned 30 years in Hamilton. Upon retiring, he was actively involved in volunteer work at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital for 15 years. He also had a strong passion for photography, wood turning, birding and gardening.

Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive (across from the Royal Botanical Gardens), BURLINGTON (905-527-0405) on Monday, January 17, 2011 from 7-9pm. Funeral Service in the chapel on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 11am. Interment at Woodland cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

McQuarrie, Sarah "Sadie" Campbell 1919-2011

Born on May 10, 1919 in Glasgow, Scotland. passed away January 15, at the Ridgeview Long Term Care Centre, Hamilton. Predeceased by her husband Roderick and parents John and Euphemia Watson. Survived by children, Derick (Debbie) Fay Henry (Richard) and David. Also survived by sisters Etta Conley and Martha Reid of California. Loving grandmother of Lorraine, Sandra, Ian, Rod, Sarah, Sean and Meaghan. Great grandma to six beautiful great grandchildren. Sarah will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Sadie was a WWII veteran, who served in the British army from 1942-1944.

Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Friday, January 21 from 10:30-12:30pm. Memorial Service to follow at 12:30 pm. The family wishes to thank the staff of Ridgeview Long Term Care Centre for their kindness and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Hamilton would be appreciated by the family.

Nelson, Lori Lynn 1963-2011

It is with aching hearts that the family shares the sudden passing of Lori, age 47, in Hamilton on Friday, January 14, 2011. A loving and beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, she will be deeply missed by all.

Lori was adored by her husband and best friend, Ron. Her pride and joy in life were her boys, Cole and Erik. Their Mom will always be in their hearts and will be watching over them. Lovingly remembered by her parents Dennis and Betty Hubbard. Heartbroken, she has left her "twin" Kimmie (Ross), brother Danny (Janice), her half-siblings, Rollande, Carol, Ceni, and Joe. Sadly missed by her mother-in-law, Violet Nelson, and brother-in-law Kirk (Anna), and sister-in-law Tina (Gabe). Will be so missed by her nieces Natasha, Samara, Jenna, Erin, Jessica, and nephew Jacob. Lori had many friends, but held closest to her heart were Heather, Nancy and Veronica.

Lori was a 26 year employee at Dofasco where she excelled in her position working in Sales and developed many special friendships with both colleagues and customers alike. Lori's death leaves a tremendous void in all of our lives. She has left us much too soon, but has left a legacy of wonderful memories that will never be forgotten. Lori will be remembered for her love of family, her crazy sense of humour, and her ferocity in which she approached life.

A heartfelt thank you to the medical team in the Henderson Trauma Unit who desperately tried to save Lori's life. We will always be grateful.

Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME - "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 1-4pm and 6-9pm. A Celebration of Lori's Life will be held in the Bay Gardens Chapel on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11am.

Lori loved all animals and especially her buddy Shiloh. In lieu of flowers, donations to the the Hamilton SPCA would be appreciated by the family.

Hulev, Stanislav 'Stasi' 1923-2011

The family is saddened to announce the passing of Stasi on January 24, 2011. Beloved husband of Efterpa. Cherished father of Nick (Vangelica) and Cvetlana (Zlatko). Devoted Dedo to Walter, Mike (Kelly), Eleonor (Tony), Sascha, and Nicholas. Grand Dedo to Elizabeth, Victoria, Kayla and Christopher. Friends and family will be received at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON, 905.574.0405 on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 9 pm. A prayer service will be held at 8pm on Wednesday. A funeral service will be held at St. Naum of Ohrid Macedonian Orthodox Church, 1150 Stone Church Rd. E., on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 11am. Burial to follow at Mount Hamilton cemetery.

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Teresa, at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital on January 8, 2011 in her 85th year. Teresa was born in Catania, Sicily, June 1, 1925 and came to Hamilton in 1961 with her loving husband, the late Carmelo Genovese. Beloved mother of Frank and his wife Lidia (nee Felicetti), Joseph and Elsie (Ubriaco) and Carmela and her husband Neil Miles. Cherished Nonna of Frank Jr., Laura, Emma and Peter. Teresa will be missed by her surviving family in Sicily, as well as by sisters-in-law, Antonietta Genovese (late Rosario) and Anna Genovese (late Nicola), of Hamilton. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Hampton Terrace LTCH for the exceptional care and support that they have provided to Teresa and her family for the last 7 years.

Peacefully at home, on Saturday, January 8, 2011, Walter George Bayliss in his 88th year.

Will be missed by his son Walt (Barbara), grandson Walter, granddaughter Sarah, and many nieces and nephews. Dear friend of Agnes May.

Predeceased by his son James, brothers Doug, Ken, Gord, and sister Muriel.

Walter was a retired employee of the Hamilton Board of Education.

Died suddenly, January 4, 2011 in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Joan (Connell). Loving father to Sue and Jamie Reaume, Sandra and Dan Burgess, Cameron and Lisa Bond. Cherished grampa to Jackie, Caroline, Cody, Eric and Amanda. Survived by dear sister Carlene Blanche, brother-in-law Philip Connell and sister-in-law Mary Bond. Predeceased by sister Betty Lawrence and brother Bill Bond. Ron retired as a Detective Staff Sergeant with the Hamilton Wentworth Police Dept. after 30 years of service. Member of Sertoma Club and Police Retirees Association and numerous coffee clubs. Over the years, Ron was involved in horseracing, instructor of Law and Security at Mohawk College, co-owner of Hamilton Lawn Spray until travelling and Florida called. Many thanks to the attending paramedics and police. As per Ron’s wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME "William J. Markey Chapel" 947 Rymal Rd E. Hamilton, on Friday January 07, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, with Memorial Tributes welcomed at 8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart & Stroke or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Lau, Kimberly Dawn 1985-2011

It is with great love and sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Kimberly, at the young age of 25, as a result of a motor vehicle accident on January 27, 2011. Beloved daughter of Wayne and Rose Lau, and sister of Jennifer (Byron). She will be sadly missed by her Grandma Hang Sun Lee, Grandfather To Fun Lau, her many aunts, uncles and cousins. There will be a visitation for family and friends at the BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 947 Rymal Rd. E., Hamilton, on Sunday, January 30th, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday, January 31st, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Bay Gardens Chapel on Tuesday, February 1st, 11 a.m. A private family burial will take place after the service. Donations may be made in Kimberly’s memory, to a charity of your choice.

It is with great sadness that the family of Giovanni Marzilli announce his passing at Juravinski Hospital. Dearly beloved husband of Addolorata Pulsone for almost 57 years. Loving father to Josie and Nicola Paiano. Precious grandfather to Antonio and Andrea, Giulio and Daniella, and Rita and Cosimo. Loving great grandfather of Bianca and Jack. Dear brother and brother in law of Salvatore and Antonietta Marzilli, Bettina and Carmine Colalillo, Lucia and the late Salvatore Pulsone, Michele and Teresa Marzilli, Maria and Rocco Malatesta. Loving uncle of many nieces and nephews. Giovanni will always be remembered for his joyful and light hearted spirit. The family would like to thank the staff at Ridgeview Long Term Care for their care and kindness. Visitation at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME – “William J Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Rd E, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Friday 2-4 and 6-9 pm with vigil prayers at 2 pm. Funeral Mass to be offered at Our Lady of Assumption Parish, 63 Regional Road 20, Stoney Creek on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10 am. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
