WW II Naval Officer Retired Vice Principal South Carleton High School Born Regina Saskatchewan, 1918, died peacefully at home on Monday, October 4, 2004 at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband of Alice Jean Cresswell. He will be sadly missed by his family. Funeral arrangements private. Those wishing may make donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

Laughlin, Kevin Mark

The family of Kevin Mark Laughlin are devastated to announce his passing as a result of a tragic boating accident on September 8, 2007 at the age of 43 years. He was the beloved husband of Irene Gunn and the cherished youngest son of Joy Laughlin and the late Mackinley “Mack” Laughlin who passed away three months ago. He is survived by his siblings Linda Grainger (the late Bob), Don (Suzanne) and Penny and their families and is predeceased by an infant brother Brian (1945). He is also survived by Irene’s parents Ron and Margaret Gunn, Irene’s siblings Fraser Gunn (Pauline), Sandra Pentland (Robert) and their families. Mark will be fondly remembered and missed by his colleagues at Ernst and Young and by his former colleagues at Ginsberg, Gluzman, Fage and Levitz. Friends may call at the Carp Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 115 Rivington Street, Carp on Saturday, September 15, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday, September 16, 2007 from 12:30 p.m. until time of service in the chapel at 2 p.m. Interment Diamond Cemetery, Kinburn. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Diamond Cemetery or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Glasner, Jim
Retired – City of Ottawa Jim was called home on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at Queensway Carleton Hospital, at the age of 68. Jim Glasner, much loved husband of Barbara. Son of the late Richard and the late Vivian Glasner. Loving father of John, Tracy and Leeanne, and step-father of Kirk and Tina. Proud grandfather of Jordan, Cody, Amber, Alyssa, Kayla, Cory, Tommy and Emily. Survived by sister Frances Layton and brothers Bob and Rick. Loved by many nieces and nephews, and special friend Betty. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt), on Saturday, September 15th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Sunday at 2 p.m. Cremation to follow. 1921 - 2004 Died October 5th 2004. Son of the late Mary and David Collins. Survived by his wife June (nee Boucher), daughter Teresa Anne Beaucaire (Mike), grandson Ryan (Sue) and sister Iris Cullen (Herb). Predeceased by sister Marion and brothers Gervin and Donald. Mel served overseas during the Second World War and later with the Ontario Provincial Police before joining the Civil Service where he retired. He was a 20 year member of Carleton Golf Club. Friends may call at the Rideau Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 1610 Roger Stevens Drive (west of Hwy 416), Kars, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Private interment Capital Memorial Gardens. Peacefully in hospital on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at the age of 85 years. Beloved wife of the late Claude Jubainville. Loving mother of Jocelyne and her husband Paul Landreville. Dear grandmother of Julie (Andre Parent), and Gilles, and great grandmother of Jason and Jessica. She is survived by her brother Claude Gauthier (Janet). Predeceased by her brother Roger Gauthier (Georgette). She will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Beloved Opa of Lauren, Michael, Erin, Kristen, Anna and Scott. Brother of Christina Reinen (the late John), Bert (Mary), Annie de Jong (the late Peter), Joe (Marlene), Teresa Sommerdyk (the late Bill), Thea Rogina (Bill), Mary Schwellnuss (Heinz), Jack and Ted (Maya). Buchanan, William Kent (Buck)
Major (Retired) EM CD Royal Canadian Artillery Passed away after a courageous four-month battle, with his devoted Nan by his side, at Salvation Army Grace Manor in Ottawa, on Thursday, September 13, 2007 age 92 years. Buck graduated in Physics from University of Toronto in 1936 and by 1939 had enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery to serve in WWII with the 1st Medium Regiment in Italy and the 664th Air O.P. Squadron RCA in NW Europe. After the War he pursued a career in the Army, teaching on both sides of the pond at the Khaki University in the UK and later at The Royal Canadian School of Artillery in Shilo after he had graduated from The Military College of Science, Shrivenham, UK. (1950). He returned to M.C.S. to complete the Guided Missile Course (1957) and later was seconded to the Defence Research Board. After retiring from the Army in 1964 he enjoyed a second career working until 1986 as a Systems Engineer with Computing Devices & General Dynamics Canada. He then found time to tinker and travel and visit his wandering offspring in Western Canada, USA and Australia. He is survived by his “manager” and beloved wife of 64 years, Nan, two sons Alan (Mary), and Bob (Helen), and three daughters Betty-Ann (Dan), Sue (Rusty) and Sheila (Joe). Predeceased by his son Jim. He leaves behind seven much-loved grandchildren, two great grands and many cherished nieces and nephews. Buck, with his dry wit and understated competence, will be missed not only by his immediate and extended family but also by an army of good old friends with whom he shared life’s trials and joys. Many thanks to the Salvation Army Grace Manor and the staff who cared for him in the last few months. Born September 23, 1921 is now in the presence of the Lord Jesus in whom he came to trust as his personal Saviour, having passed into his eternity the 7th of October 2004 at the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre after a long illness with Alzheimer’s disease. He spent most of his early years and married life in the village of Sand Point, Ontario. Beloved husband of Marjorie Alice Perdue Boyle. Loving father of Brian (Barbara) Boyle of Vancouver, Beverley Boyle of Ottawa, David (Christine) Boyle of Calgary, Garvin (Annie) Boyle of Richmond, Kathleen Marshall (John) of Mississauga and Norman (Lynn) Boyle of Winnipeg. Grandfather to Janice, David, Phillip, Keith, Michael, Charles, Alexandra, Karen, Steven, Chantelle, Jeoffrey and Tara. Great-grandfather to Dillon. Brother to Phyllis Boyle of Ottawa and son of the late Henry and Mary (Taylor) Boyle of Boulter, Ontario. Friends may call at the Bridlewood Bible Chapel, 465 Eagleson Road, Kanata on Tuesday, October 12, 2004 from 10 a.m. until time of service in the chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Sand Point Cemetery. Clark Centre, devoted caregivers Judy, Louise and Marguerite, and to Anne for her many kindnesses. Vivian loved the companionship she enjoyed with Nancy and Lou Liuzzo and Ian and Norma Syme. Vivian had a rewarding career as a teacher – a profession she loved.
