Slemko, Stephen
Peacefully in hospital, on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at the age of 78 years. Loving husband of Lucienne. Dear father of Mike (Debbie). At the family's request, a private service will be held. For those who wish a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Offley, George William Clive
Suddenly, at the Ottawa Heart Institute on Thursday September 1st, 2005, at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Mary. Dear father of Cathrine (Bo Skowronnek), Judith-Ann Offley (Rick Leizert), Margaret Offley (Glenn Coffin) and Diane (Carl Harriman). Proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Born in England, George affected all who knew him through his vibrant, and lively character and his determined will. He joined the Air Arm of the Royal Navy and flew one of the nine Swordfish torpedo bombers attacking the German battleship Bismarck in the first ever carrier-borne air strike against a battleship. George received the Murmansk Medal from the Former Soviet Union in recognition of his allied service, and has been decorated extensively by the Canadian and British Governments, including receiving the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002. He supported and participated in The Royal Canadian Legion and ensuring veterans' rights. The family would like to thank the staff and physicians at the Ottawa Heart Institute for their care and compassion during George's treatments. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Rd., at Roosevelt, on Tuesday September 6th, 2005 from 2 p.m. until service time in the Chapel at 6 p.m. For those who wish, a donation to the Ottawa Heart Institute, would be appreciated.

Minion (nee Purdy), Susan
Suddenly at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Saturday September 3, 2005 at the age of 58. Loving wife and best friend of David. Dear mother of Sean (Andrea Brown) and Melissa (Andrew Woodard). Proud grandmother of Dilhan Averi and Jamie on the way. Dear sister of Bill (Edna), Sharon (Frank) and Kevin (Deb). Much loved daughter-in-law of Les and the late Rita Minion. Beloved sister-in-law of Bill (Carolyn), Rick (Carol) and Lesley (Dan). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents William and Edith and her brother Lynn. At the family's request the funeral arrangements are private. The family wish to thank the doctors and nurses of the ICU and the neurological department of the Ottawa Civic Hospital for their care. In lieu of flowers, a donation to CHEO would be appreciated.

Peacefully at New Orchard Lodge, on Sunday September 4, 2005 in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband Dan. Survived by her niece Pat Lightfoot (Robert) of Stratford and nephew John Stavonow of Cobden ON, and several cousins. Predeceased by her parents William and Ruby Waddell and her brother Gordon. Peacefully, on September 6, 2005 at the Ottawa General Hospital at the age of 81. Predeceased by his loving wife Mae (nee MacIntosh). Dear father of Diane (Dick Freeborough), Linda (Curt Watkins), Graham (Jody), and Wendy (Paul Redfern). Cherished grandfather of 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Claude. Much-loved son of Xi Chen and Jingxia Liu. Cherished grandson of Yunfu Chen, Ruoli Mo and Yongyan Liu. Beloved nephew of Wang Chen, Jieqiu Liu and Peizhi Mo. Loving cousin of Elena Wang. Brother of Warren Jr. (Dwyla) of Pembroke, Ruth Gagnon (Victor) of Chapeau, QC. Patsy Deighton (Hartley) of Lindsay, Grant (Barb) of Pembroke, Peter (the late Faye) of Pembroke, Paulette Furnival (Richard) of Pembroke and the late Jack. Son –in-law of Sam and Gladys Leech of Cobden. Brother-in-law to Keith Leech(Teri), Richard Leech (Pat), Linda (the late Frank Etmanskie), Rhonda (the late Nathan Remus) and Ron Leech (Pam). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. MacLennan, Ian Alexander
Peacefully in hospital on Tuesday, September 6th, 2005, in his 93rd year. Predeceased by his wife Phoebe (nee Baker), sons Peter and Donald, sisters Flora and Ida and brother Norman. Beloved father of Roderick (Mary Ann), Hugh (Debra) and Kathleen Perreault (Michael). Greatly missed by grandchildren Marijean, Benjamin, Robin and Amanda. Special great granddad to Tyler, Michelle and Joseph. Survived also by dear brother Donald. Suddenly in the afternoon on Tuesday, September 6, in Ottawa. David (D.J.) John Manship left those who loved him most. D.J. will be greatly missed by his mother Debby, his brother Derrick and many other family and friends who knew him well and shared his life. Aileen Shaw best friend and beloved wife of Robert Pratt. Loving mother of Joanne and Liz MacGregor. Daughter of Mary Shaw of Pakenham and the late Borden Shaw. Sister of Philip Shaw of Toronto. Sadly missed by stepchildren Bev Van Leyen (Andy), Sherri Spencer (Willy), Ben Pratt (Jody) and Roberta Graham (Jerry). Step grandmother of Richard and Cynthia Lomaz, Lyndsay and Kenny Sloan Van Leyen, Alex and Matthew Van Leyen, Abraham, Ema, Amy and April Pratt. Fleming, L. CDR. Charles W., CD, RCN. Retired
After what he always perceived as a great life Charlie Fleming departed this life on Thursday, September 8, 2005 for a still greater life in the glory of God at age 85. Beloved husband of Elsie Fleming (nee Large). Loving father of Arlene Margaret Pelrine (Joseph M.) of Vancouver and David William presently in Las Vegas. Cherished grandfather of Lynn C. and Karen L. Pelrine both of Vancouver. Dear brother of Mary Lou Dewar (Robert) of Calgary, Alice Wachter (Charlie) of Maryland, Stanley (Carol) of Fergus, ON and Douglas of Saint John, NB. Born in Saint John, NB, Charles spent a large part of his life in Naval pursuits, starting at age 10 in Sea Cadets then to naval reserves and eventually in the RCN during which time he had several commands both ashore and afloat. Many friends of Charlie would remember him as just plain Chuck Fleming, particularly in the world of sport where he was a player in baseball and hockey and an active participant in modern western square dancing, both as a caller and dancer. Charles will also be remembered as a high school teacher serving under Ottawa Board of Education at Champlain High School. Charlie's final work was a six year stint with the Royal Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, in which he proudly served in what he always expressed, was a great joy and pleasure among his veteran peers. Friends may call at All Saints Anglican Church Westboro, 347 Richmond Road, Ottawa on Monday, September 12, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral Service will be held at the church on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Reception to follow in Stacey Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
