Born in Miniota, Manitoba she attended the Winnipeg Normal School and then taught in one-room schools throughout the province. She joined the CWACs in 1944 and, as Sergeant Bonner fell in love with Sergeant Parsonage whom she married in July 1946. Mum studied at the University of Western Ontario, McMaster University and the University of Toronto obtaining her B.A., B.Ed.,and M.Ed. She taught in Wentworth County until 1967 when she became as Education Officer for the Ontario Ministry of Education. As part of a clinical team at the Chedoke-McMaster Child and Family Centre she devoted her time to helping children learn and thrive. She and her husband spent their spare time teaching basic literacy to adults.
To her friends and family, Mum, in her various guises as Jennie, Bonnie or Mrs. P was unique -a funny, bright, stubborn and loving woman. We miss her.
