Small, Captain Darell Lovell, CD
March 26, 1915 - August 12, 2008
Surrounded by his family, Darell passed away peacefully at home. Born to Ford and Norma Small, Darell grew up in Calgary, Alberta. Darell, Dad, Grandad and Great Grandad served 27 years in the Royal Canadian Engineers (1935 – 1962) and 17 years with the City of Ottawa (1963 – 1980). In retirement he was an active member of the Heraldry Society of Canada, the Monarchist League of Canada and the Brotherhood of Anglican Churchmen. Darell will be missed by his family; his loving wife Fern, his four children, Darell (Lynne), Carol (James), Holly (John), and Leslie (Jeffrey), five grandchildren, Allison, Virginia, Jennifer, Rebecca, and Nicholas and one great grandchild Fiona. We are very grateful to Dr’s Aldridge and Coulombe, nurses Vicki, Cathy, and Michelle, and Meaza his personal care worker for their wonderful care for Dad. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of the Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road at Roosevelt on Friday, August 15, 2008 from 4 – 7 pm. A memorial service will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church 2345 Alta Vista Dr. on Saturday at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers. donations may be made to the Regional Cancer Centre, 501 Smyth Road, Ottawa, ON K1H 8L6.

Battling heart disease, Andy died peacefully in hospital on Wednesday August 13, 2008 at the age of 70 years. Beloved husband of Mona (nee Ferial Ata). Loving father of Elie and Susan (Neil Boushey). Dear brother of Wadad Abouzeid (Boulos), Sister Celine, Nahia Massad (Antoine), Souad Hajjar (Habib), Josephine Areid (George), Ibrahim Baraki, Amal Baraki and George Baraki (Carol) and all of their families. Survived by his uncle Joseph Ghattas (Lilly) and family. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Rd. at Roosevelt Ave., Ottawa on Friday August 15, 2008 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Melkite Catholic Church, 1161 North River Rd., Ottawa on Saturday August 16th at 10 a.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive, Nepean. Peacefully in hospital after a courageous battle with many illnesses, Bob went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, August 15, 2008 in his 69th year. Beloved husband of Joan. Loving father of Randy Parizeau (Rita), Sherri Potvin (Dan), Kelly Wilkinson (Steve), Katie Semanyk (Nickolas), Mary Jo Richardson (Murray), and Sarah Lanoue (John Liepa). Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Renae, Tim, Luc, Daryll (Jamie), Jordan, Rebecca (Nicholas), Owen, Mark, Bethany, Samantha, Jordan, Rachel, Madeline, Branden and great grandfather of Andrew. After a long illness and a courageous battle on August 18, 2008 his 81st birthday at Granite Ridge Specialty Care Facility. Son of Sam and Jane Bond. Beloved husband of Alma, his devoted wife of 60 years. Loving father of Diane (Richard) Priday and Steven (Shelley) Bond. Cherished Papa of Amy (Justin) Young, Jessica Priday, Sam Bond and Riley Bond. Dear brother of Anna (Buzz) Murray, Jean Azulay and Hester (John) Shackleton. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff at Granite Ridge for their excellent care. Woelflé – Melba B. Graduate of Victoria College (Journalism), Toronto Long standing member, Canadian Woman’s Press Club/Media Club/National Press Club WW II WREN (Women’s Royal English Navy). Peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2003 in her 83rd year. Loving mother of Kathleen Stokely and Wayne (Christine). Cherished grandmother of Kelsie and Shauna Stokely and Kyle and Kayla Woelflé. Dear friend of Ted and Ann Woelflé. Melba lived a full and happy life that has touched so many people. Early in life it was destined that she would see, visit and do many things. She has travelled extensively, nearing the end of WWII as a WREN and then throughout the remainder of her long and happy life, whether it was for work or for pleasure. She took great joy in seeing new things and places, and meeting new people wherever her journeys took her. Her happy and positive outlook touched many people. She will be greatly missed. Many thanks to the caring staff at The Empress for making her final days so comfortable. Thank you to Dr. Tara Tucker and the Palliative Care staff. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped support her during her final days. Murray, Scott Donald
A dedicated family man highly respected in his business community. He passed away at the age of 54 years after a short but hard fought battle with cancer. Born and raised in Stoney Creek to Jean Murray and the late Don Murray (who passed away in April ’08). He was much loved by his wife Judy (nee Beresford) and by his daughters Elizabeth, Jessica and Allison. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched with his positive and upbeat outlook on life. Loving sister of Reverend Frank Stone (Shirley), and the late Jack Stone (Ruth). Devoted aunt of Arleta, Betty, John, Susan, Jim, Crystal and Wendy. Also survived by several great nieces and nephews. Charles, Gordon Elias
Peacefully, in hospital, surrounded by his family, on August 28, 2008, after a valiant battle. Beloved husband of Lois (Kuntz), much loved father of David, Michael (Kerri Ferguson) and Elizabeth; dear Poppa of Zackary. Brother of John, Mary Ann (Carlos Brito), and Helen Saykali. Brother-in-law of Carol Anne Jamieson and the late Toni Williams. Remembered fondly by nieces and nephews, Jessica and Ben Williams, Paul (Ellie Vyver) and Katherine Henning, Adriana and Jordan Brito. Great Uncle to Jordan Larkin and Andrew Henning. Dearly missed by Margaret Rywak, an honourary member of the family. Gordon was born in Ottawa on April 16, 1935, son of Sadie Saikaley and Phillip Charles. He was a graduate of Glebe Collegiate and Carleton University and worked for the Dept. of Consumer and Corporate Affairs until his retirement in 1989. He and Lois married in 1966 and made their home in Nepean. Gordon served on the Nepean Library Board and was elected to two terms as a Trustee of the Carleton Board of Education. He also served on the Board of Ottawa Valley Autistic Homes. He was awarded a Nepean Millennium Medal for outstanding community service in 2000. Golf was his passion. He was a member of Irish Hills Golf Club and spent many hours on the links over the years. Funeral Service on Monday, September 1, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 20 Young Rd.off Hazeldean Rd. east of Terry Fox Dr.in Kanata. Join us at 5:00 p.m. in the church hall for a celebration and as Gordon would say, “a great spread.” In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Walshy Classic (Golf Tournament in support of Brain Cancer Research) c/o 155 Dufferin Ave. Belleville ON K8N 3W9. Williams – Alison Elisabeth 1960 – 2003 Peacefully on Saturday morning, November 15, 2003 after a long and courageous battle against cancer. Beloved wife of Peter Williams. Loving mother of Sarah and Geoffrey. Daughter of Marion and the late Roger McDonald. Sister of Bruce and Doug. Cherished daughter in law of Dewi and Eufron Williams and sister in law of Siân and David Fitzpatrick, Colin Williams and Andrew and Theresa Williams. Proud aunt of many. Sunday, August 31, 2008, I lost my love and soul mate. He died peacefully at home surrounded by family after a short illness. Gerry leaves behind his “Love” Carolyn Colpitts-Leger; son, John (Anji Bhattacharyya); daughter, Christine (Paul Weston) and adoring grandchildren Adam, Nathan, Sage and baby Grace. Gerry was predeceased by his mother Marie; father Gerard; sister Julie LeBlanc; brother Val; father-in-law John Lans Colpitts and brother-in-law Jack Colpitts. Also greatly missed by sisters Aline Siritsky (Michel), Annette Fairweather; brother Ron (Karen); sisters Angela Wilson (Doug), Louise Boulter (Robert); brother-in-law Ferdie LeBlanc; sisters-in-law Ruth Leger, Sherran Bowbrick (David), Bonnie Stevens (Blair) and mother-in-law Madge Colpitts. Leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. He will be deeply missed by all. Gerry’s career in the public service (1976 – 2006) was with the Solicitor General of Canada where he held senior management positions, retiring as Director of Technology and Information Systems. Love forever and a day my darling.
