Predeceased by her father and mother Emanuelle and Lydia, she leaves to mourn her devoted and loving husband Robert Charles Newman of Ottawa; three sons and their families: Fabio (Ilaria) of Italy and two grandchildren, Julia and Filippo; Alex (Lorenza) of Italy and grandchild Matilde; and Giulio (Erin) of Tampa, Florida; and many good friends and relatives. Married to Robert on December 23, 2001, at Glebe St. James United Church in Ottawa, Josephine was an elegant, vibrant and generous lady who always took special care to ensure her home for all who entered was a place of happiness and comfort, meditation, music and harmony, flowers, art and beauty, and above all love. Her door was always open, her welcoming with a warm, beautiful, unforgetable smile; her table immaculately adorned, her cuisine without equal, and her special style unique and exquisite. Born in Augusta, Italy, she later moved and lived many years in the United States, and eventually Canada, where she had a remarkable and admirable career, including managing a successful art gallery in Washington DC; working as a diplomatic liaison for the US office of Information; travelling and lecturing as a Fulbright professor; later for Health Canada; and then as Research Advisor the the Senate of Canada inthe office of Senator Sheila Finestone. During her residence in the USA, she earned a Master of Arts in International Studies and Economics from Drew University. Josephine was an articulate and intelligent woman who overcame many obstacles in her life.
