Logan, George
Co-founder Triangle Pump Service Ltd.
At the age of 87, George passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. The world’s best husband and friend of almost 63 years to Joy Logan (nee Thompson). Predeceased by infant son David. Loving and devoted father of Cindy, Ken (Wanda), and Barry (Jane). Adored grandfather of Kimberlea, Cassandra, Barkley, Whitney, Courtney, and Brad. Survived by his sisters, Dorothy Wiber and Orma Fowler; predeceased by siblings Edward, Ella, Omar, Hilda, and Bruce. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. George proudly served his country in World War II, co-founded Triangle Pump Service Ltd.; however, George’s pride and joy lay with his family. He will be remembered by many who knew him as a loyal and dependable friend. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the ambulance service and Ottawa Civic Hospital. Friends may pay their respects at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road on Sunday, July 19, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Anglican South March Parish, 325 Sandhill Road, Kanata. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the Ottawa Heart and Stroke Institute would be appreciated.

Peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus on July 15, 2009 at the age of 73. Beloved wife of the late Gerry Brugger. Predeceased by Antoine and Mary Ann Lafrance (nee Gagnon). Dear sister of Mary Theresa (Clyde) Clabo of California, George (Lise) of Montreal and Rene (Mary) of Pembroke. Predeceased by brothers Lawrence and Bernard and infant sister Rita. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Peacefully in hospital on Friday, July 17, 2009 in her 86th year. Beloved wife of the late Winston Grafton. Loving mother of Barbara Thomas, Jackie Tippins (Bob), and Connie Jardine (Brian). Cherished grandmother of Kirk (Joan), Tina (Eric), Tracey (Terry), Trevor (Melanie). Megan, Scott, and great-grandmother of Tommy, Emily, Jamie, Lauren, Robbie, Nathan and Nicholas. She will also be missed by her nephews John (Denise) Dolan and George (Marie) Dolan, her great-niece Rebecca, and many friends. Peacefully at Forest Hill on Friday, July 17, 2009 in her 79th year. Loving mother of Cheryl McCann (Mike). Cherished Nanna of Connor. Dear sister of Eunice Warner, Arnold (deceased), Reg (Helen) and Cliff (Diane). She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. A private funeral service will be held, followed by a public memorial service at St. Richard’s Anglican Church, 8 Withrow Avenue, Ottawa at a later date. Peacefully at his cottage in Fort Coulonge, Quebec on Thursday July 16, 2009 in his 89th year. Survived by his beloved wife Lillian (formerly Humphreys - nee Neely); his children: Robert Lockwood, Dorothy Simser (Keith), Wayne Humphreys (Sylvia), Linda McLaughlin (Peter Harasym), Garry Humphreys (Kim) and Glen Humphreys; his grandchildren Cindy (Jim Drysdale), Travis (Kellie), Sean (Sandra), Todd, Garrett, Kasey, Jenna and Jason, Sebastian, Gillian, Matthew and Joshua.; his great-grand-children: Jesse, Bryanna and Riley and by his sister Jean Crozier (predeceased by Gordon Crozier). Earl was predeceased by his loving first wife Alda Lockwood, his parents Wilfred and Ida (nee Guest) and his brother Tom (survived by Josie). He will also be missed by his beloved pets Timmy, Tiny and Snoopy. Dear sister of Barbara (Mark) Countway, Edwin (Audrey) Honeywell and Marilyn (Robert) Cavanagh. Sadly missed by her nieces and nephews. Mannion, Liam Closs
October 18, 1985 – July 19, 2009
Our bright spirit left us in his 24th year, as a result of a tragic car accident, Survived by his grieving parents, Richard Mannion and Catherine Closs. Missing him are his beloved Chaya; his sisters Shannon, Vicki, Leslie, Cynthia (Michael Roney) and his brother and buddy Sean Mannion (Kirsten James). Beloved nephew of Sean Closs and Sheena Waterson, Eileen, Frances and Helen Mannion. Uncle to Liam and Emily Roney, Tristan, Ryan and Dylan Mannion. Cousin to Tara (Sophie and Abby) and Matthew (Stephanie) Closs. Liam had an inquiring mind, a passion for social justice and many many friends. In his short life he volunteered in Africa and Ottawa and was embarking on a master’s program. He was generous, kind and compassionate and was about to hike the West Coast Trail in B.C. We loved him and will miss him greatly. McKiel, John Albert (Bob)
McKiel, John Albert (Bob) On July 19, 2009 in hospital at the age of 90. Born and raised on the shore of the St. John River, Bob served in the navy throughout WW II. He met and married his wife of 65 years, Marie, in Sydney, Nova Scotia. They moved with their growing family to Ontario as Bob pursued his studies, earning a PhD from Queens. He worked at Tunney’s Pasture in Ottawa as a research scientist and Director General. Bob and Marie retired to a hundred year old house on the Atlantic coast in Nova Scotia. He completely rebuilt the house over a 20-year period before they returned to Ottawa. He is survived by his wife Marie (nee MacDonald), his sons David (Mary Jane), Don (Dawn), and Greg (Ross), his grandchildren Maggie (Chris), Andy (Jennifer), Sarah (Perry), Laura as well as 5 great-grandchildren, his sisters Glenna (Paul), Mardie (Ian) and Maxine (Romey). Bob was a hardworking, intelligent and kind man who will be sorely missed by his family. At his request, there will be no funeral.

Peacefully in hospital on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 age 50 years. Loving daughter of Janet McKenny and the late James McKenny. Dear sister of Gordon (Maureen), Gloria Preston (Perry), Harry, Shawn, Jim (Ellen) and Margaret Craig (Jim). Special aunt of Jennifer (Trevor), Mike, Megan, Jessica, Sarah, Emmaly, Max and Easton. Peacefully at Granite Ridge Nursing Home, Stittsville, on Sunday July 19, 2009. Grace Ella Thompson, in her 96th year. Daughter of the late Fred and Emily Sloan. Predeceased by her loving husband, Emerson, in 1985. Stepmother to Raymond (Leda), the late Clare (Mona), Keith (Marion), and Roger (Catherine). Grandmother to fourteen grandchildren. Special cousin to Nancy Mayhew (of Shawville). Grace was an active member of the Stittsville Woman's Institute, Goulbourn Historical Society, Stittsville Horticultural Society as well as a historical author and philanthropist. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Granite Ridge.
