Of cancer, after a blighted life stoically endured. Eldest child of the late Elizabeth Stewart and Richard Briant Line. Survived by devoted friend Gerald Laporte; by siblings Marie, Richard, Roger, Christine and Mary Ellen; and by a large extended family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12 at 12noon at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore and Baseline Road), Nepean.

Moreau, Liliane (Nee Newton)
After a long illness, in hospital on September 8, 2009. Beloved wife of Gerard “Gerry”. Mother of Michel Ethier, Denis Ethier (Sandra Saumier), Jacques Ethier, André Ethier (Kim Laviolette) Rachel (Vern Brock). Survived by 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by her sisters Claire (Yvon Belanger), Claudette (Marcel Charette) and Monique (late Marcel Miner) and her brothers Henry (Ann Dolan), André (Gervette Paradis) and Richard (Claire St-Denis). Predeceased by parents Albert and Juliette Newton and sisters Therese (Gérald Villeneuve), Louise (Maurice Lafortune) and Linda (Jean-Marc Viau). Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt) on Friday, September 11, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 10:30. Jeffery, Martin
1928-2009
A life lived with humour, integrity, honesty, simplicity and vigor. A victim of Alzheimer’s disease and all the pain and confusion it brings with it, all the while Martin preserved and maintained his dignity as a person. He has been and will continue to be missed by his wife, companion, lover and caregiver, Linda (Leitch) Jeffery and his most precious and loving daughter Aidan. He will also be missed by his sister Mary Jo, his devoted sister-in-law Rita Coles and his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Royden and Mary Lenore and his sister Eleanor. Martin was an outstanding religious educator who influenced the lives of many across Canada. Sincere thanks to the staff at the McCluskey Centre for their dedication, to the Grey Sisters for their support and generosity, to all the nurses at the Pembroke Regional Hospital for their professionalism and continuity of care, and also to Dr. Joan Tyler for her humanness in dealing with Martin and his family. Martin will be fondly remembered for his generosity and humanity towards others. A celebration of Martin’s life will be held at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church, 7 Fairbairn St., corner of Sunnyside, 2 blocks east of Bank on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 2p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation to the OK Clean Water Project, 580 Chapel Street, Ottawa, ON, K1N 7Z8, www.okcleanwaterproject.org would be appreciated.

Desarmeaux, Gladys (nee - Schryer)
Peacefully at Garden Terrace, Kanata, on Sunday, September 13th, 2009, in her 99th year. Beloved wife of the late Clifford Desarmeaux and J. Alexander (Alex) McDonald. Dear sister of Ella Rowe of Garden Terrace, Kanata. Cherished aunt of Ron and Lynne Rowe (Stittsville), Allan and Mary Rowe (Burlington), Robert and Gloria Schryer (Carleton Place), Robert and Debbie Johnson (Detroit, Michigan), Wendell and Virginia Johnson (Detroit) and Owen Johnson (the late Jean Johnson) (Houston, Texas). Predeceased by her brothers Alvin, Ted, Roy and Oswald, by her sisters Ethel and Lola and by her nephew Dr. Ken Schryer. Special thanks to Meredith (3rd floor nurse at Garden Terrace) and staff for their kind and compassionate care. Gladys will be missed by her many friend in Largo, Florida and in Ottawa and by her church friends of Bromley Road Baptist Church. Greer, Lucy née Wightman
Peacefully at Carleton Lodge with her family by her side on Monday September 14, 2009 at the age of 100 years. Predeceased by her beloved husband James Scott “Hamish” in 1968. Dearly loved mother of Douglas (Shirley Atkinson) of Pasadena Newfoundland and Ian (Lynn Davenport) of Ottawa. Cherished grandmother of Jenny (David Styles), Jimmy (Gailyn Strauss), Matthew, Sarah, Scott, Andrew and Timothy Greer and her great-grandchildren Robbie and Dawson Styles and Elayna Strauss-Greer. Predeceased by her parents Minnie (née Booth) and Tom Wightman, her brother Sydney Wightman (May Pollock) and her sisters Mabel (Andrew Whitelaw), Minnie (David Kinloch) and Nellie (Fergus Clark). Special thanks to Kate Beaubien, Margaret Powell, Ian Stevenson, Aileen and the late Rod Davenport and the staff at Carleton Lodge, in particular Maria Legault, Darlene Melvin and Evelyn Gillen. Jeffery, Grace Emily
Born in London, England July 3, 1925, she passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 15, 2009 at Extendicare Starwood Ottawa, at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her sons Michael (Anne), John (Mary) and Peter. She was predeceased by her husband John and her daughters Aileen and Barbara. She was a proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place in Ottawa. She will be laid to rest at Evergreen cemetery , Blenheim at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Smith, Ghislaine Lachance
(1928-2009)
passed away peacefully with her family by her side in Gatineau on September 16, 2009. Wife of the late John M. Smith, she will be deeply missed by her children Kevin, Doreen and Catherine-Ann (Mark Doyle), her grandchildren Devlin Flood-Smith, Paige and Fiona Doyle, her nieces and nephew Lucie, Martine and Jean-François Lamoureux. Memorial Service will be held at St. Kevin’s Church, 5600 Chemin de la Côte-Des-Neiges, Montreal on Saturday September 19, 2009 at 11 am. Private burial in Thetford Mines at a later date. Peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2009. Beloved husband of Airdrie Thompson Guppy for 32 years. Loving father of Louise and her husband Chuck Stokely, Marjorie and her husband Bruce Johnson, Claydon and his wife Sandra, and stepfather of Allison Thompson and her late husband Ian Taylor, and Gordon Thompson and his wife Nadya Burton. Dear Poppy and Grandpa of Tyler, Kelsie, Danica, Laura, Shauna, Emily, Jordan, Jessica, Olivia,Mitchell, Isabella, Vanessa, Lonya, and Misha. Survived by his sisters Jean and her husband Bill Hardy, and Eden Barber. Predeceased by his sister Marjorie Peadson. Weber, Helen
In hospital, with family at her side, on Thursday, September 17, 2009, one month short of her 102nd Birthday. Helen Huggins, widow of Guy Weber. Mother of Wally (Late Rosemary), Barb (Mike Paradis) and Jane (Jack Murray). Grandmother of eight; great-grandmother of fourteen. Predeceased by brother Jack Huggins and sister Ivy Mantle. Leaves behind in Canada nephews Bucky Mantle (Audrey), and Barry Mantle (Jo), and niece Shirley (late Glen Pressick). Survived in Birmingham, England by nephews Tony (Jackie), Ronnie (late Jackie) and friends Joan and Ron Gill. Will be missed by friends from the Phoenix Apartments, Ottawa especially Barbara, Laurie and John. Helen wished for no visitation, nor a service. Arrangements entrusted to Tubman Funeral Homes. Cremation with interment at Capital Memorial Gardens. Thanks to staff of Units A2 and E5 at the Civic Hospital. Jamieson, Dwight "Steve" Donald
January 15, 1962 - September 16, 2009 Dwight Donald Jamieson passed away peacefully in hospital in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in his 48th year. Dwight, also known as Steve to many friends who came to know him later in life, was born to the late Thelma Clifford (nee Routliffe) Jamieson and the late Robert 'Bert' Duncan Jamieson, and grew up with his siblings working on the family dairy farm near Aylmer, Quebec. Dwight was a hard worker, a loyal friend and a gentle soul. He marveled at the richness and beauty of life in the moment and was committed to always learning and thinking about new ideas and things. Through his love of nature, passion for photography, painting, design and travel, as well as his skill in the realm of Information Technology, he has left a lasting impact and many memories. His mischievous smile and his wry sense of humour stayed with him to his final moments, and will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. Following Dwight's wishes, there will be no funeral or viewing but friends and family are invited to a reception on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 beginning at 1:30 pm. A service to celebrate Dwight’s life will begin at 3:30 pm for those who wish to attend. Both will be held at The Courtyard Restaurant, 21 George Street, in the ByWard Market, Ottawa. A private Interment ceremony will be planned in the coming months at Bellevue cemetery , Aylmer, Quebec. At Dwight's request, a tree will be planted next Spring in his name as part of the City of Ottawa's Commemorative Tree Program. In lieu of flowers, Dwight requested that donations in his memory be made to the Bruyère Foundation.

Stevenson, Eileen (nee Beale)
Peacefully at Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre on September 16, 2009 at the age of 85. Beloved wife of Bob Stevenson. Loving mother of the late Betty and the late Ronald (Susan). Cherished grandmother of Holly and David Foster, Robert Stevenson, Amanda (Starr) McCue and great-grandmother of Joe and Aiden McCue. Dear sister of Dorothy (the late Bill) Thrush. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Lawrence, Douglas
We are sad to announce his sudden passing at his home on Monday, September 14, 2009 at the age of 61 years. Predeceased by his parents, Wilson Lawrence and Lyla Soucie and brother, Donald Lawrence. He is survived by his brother, Robert Lawrence; sister in-law Isobel Lawrence; nephew Jason Lawrence (Andrea) and their daughter, Acelynn; niece Kristy Lawrence (Cory) and their son Marko. Though we mourn his passing, it is with deep love, admiration and respect that we remember the gentle soul that touched our hearts and lives. Doug leaves a legacy of hope and gratitude to all who knew him. He was never without a smile, a kind word and the willingness to listen and help others. He was a true friend to those who knew him, an example to those who looked up to him and a beacon of light to those who sought his assistance. He will be truly missed.
