Whalen, John Michael
Suddenly after a brief illness on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, aged 58 years. Beloved husband of Vickie Newell. Loving father of Jason. Dear son of Ann Whalen and the late Bill Whalen. Dear brother of Josephine Moreau, Jim and Pat (Sherry). John will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Les, Dustin, Jon, Angie, Blaine, Shawn, their families and by his many friends. At his request their will be no visitation or service. Russell, Emily Marguerite Irene (nee - Tecter)
In hospital on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, in her 89th year. Predeceased by her parents Albert J. (Tom) Tecter and Irene J. Simpson, her sister Edna Lochhead (Gordon), her brothers Albert and Leonard (husband of Rita). She leaves her brother Allan (Joy), her nieces Audrey (Casey), Dawn, Lois, Patty, Sue and Marianne (Denis) and her nephews Roy, Barton, Lane, John and many great nieces and nephews. At her request their will be no funeral service. Her cremated remains will be buried in Mount Royal cemetery , Montreal, Quebec. Arrangements in the care of Tubman Funeral Homes.

Herriotts, Joyce
Peacefully at home of congestive heart failure on October 9, 2009 aged 87. Beloved wife of the late Bill Herriotts (Nov. 11, 2004). Loving mother of Chris and his wife Anne. Dear grandmother of Simon and his wife Anne, Sala and her husband Derek Lavoie, Megan, and Matthew. Proud great grandmother of Kathryne, Gabriel, Feylin, and Kiana. Peacefully at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, on Friday December 26, 2003 in her 82nd year. Loving wife of Irwin of 63 years. She will be missed by her brother-in-law Carman, sisters-in-law Georgina and Florence and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Rd., at Roosevelt, on Monday December 29, 2003 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service on Tuesday at St. Andrew's United Church, Cumberland at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the spring at Dales cemetery. Kelly, Dorothy Gertrude (nee Staniford)
Retired Registered Nurse
After an almost century-long life of high adventure, Dorothy passed away peacefully at the Almonte Fairview Manor on October 14. Dorothy was born in Clapham, Yorkshire, England on May 25, 1912. She went on to train as a Registered Nurse and Midwife in Lancaster, England and delivered babies during the Second World War in London. After the war, she married Percy Kelly, a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force and moved to Douglastown, NB where they raised their two children: Susan and Sandra. A proud grandmother, Dorothy was extremely present in the lives of her two grandchildren: Jonathan and Erin O’Hara. Her zest for life continues to live on in them. She is survived by her daughter Sandra O’Hara of Almonte, her two grandchildren Jonathan and Erin O’Hara, both of Ottawa. She is predeceased by her beloved daughter Susan and her loving husband Percy. Friends may call at the Almonte Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 154 Elgin St., Almonte on Thursday, October 15th from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name of Mary Church, Bridge St., Almonte on Friday, October 16th at 11am. Internment of cremated remains at Auld Kirk cemetery. Cormack, Jean Margaret nee Fearn
Peacefully in the presence of her family on Wednesday October 14, 2009, at the age of 80. Cherished wife of Cdr Bruce Cormack RCN (retired). Survived by her sister Doris Morris (John), and sister in law Helen Fearn. Predeceased by her brother Doug Fearn. Loving mother of Mark Cormack (Maureen), Valerie Parker, Catherine Williams (Bill), Andrea Cormack-Akeson (Mark) and grand daughters Jaime Williams and Jessica Cormack. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Western Canada. She was a long time volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore Dr. and Baseline Rd.) on Monday, October 19, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception. McEwen, Leslie
Peacefully at home on Friday, October 16, 2009 age 81 years. Loved forever by his wife Violet (Eastman) and his children, Philip (Eileen), Jacalyn Kearns (Michael), James (Nora), and William (Heather). Cherished grandfather of Meghan and Kevin Kearns, Rebecca, Shannon, Dawn, and Marina McEwen. "Special Dad" to Beverley Saunders and grandfather to Lindsey Saunders. Dear brother of Benjamin (Jean) and Ruth Doll (Denis). Predeceased by his parents Edwin and Merle McEwen. 1927-2009
passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2009. Survived by his wife Lorna and his four sons John (Karen), Eric (Rosy), Neil and Mark (Kristine) and by his grandchildren Adam (Jen), Leslie (Mike), Simon, Jacob and Luke. Fondly remembered by his brother Karl (Dorothy) and by his sister Evelyn (the late Dave Rimmer). University of Alberta Alumnus, he had a long and distinguished career with Health and Welfare Canada developing international food hygiene standards, he also received several international awards. Special thanks to his niece Ann and to the staff at Medex Extendicare. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt) on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 2 p.m. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.

Proud grandmother of Shawn (Cheryl), Janis (Kirk), Brenda, Larry, David, Steven (Solvia) and Tammy, and great-grandmother of Bradley, Jesse and Lexie. Predeceased by her daughter Marjorie and sons Carl and Allan. Survived by her sisters Nellie and Beatrice and her brother Leonard. Grandmother of David, Susan, Mary Gail, Brent, Scott, Lori, Karen, Andrea and many great grand-children. A family gathering will be held at Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Graveside Service will be held at Pinecrest cemetery at 11a.m. followed by a reception. Suddenly, but peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at age 68. Elsie was the beloved wife of Adrian for the past 28 years. Best friend and mother to Elena (Fazil Hussein) and immensely proud nana of three-week old Iris. Elsie will be deeply missed by her sister Dorothy (Bert) Lowry of Almonte, sister-in-law Mary Penman (the late Jack) of Lombardy, sister and brother-in-law Grietje and Ron Waddell of Hemmingford, Quebec and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Elsie will be remembered as a warm, generous, creative and fun-loving woman. Elsie is predeceased by her parents John and Mary Penman (nee Lawson) of Almonte, first husband Donald J. Clapp, brother Jack Penman of Lombardy and sister Ruth (the late Bill Leslie) of Scarborough.
