Suddenly at the Ajax and Pickering Health Centre on Monday, March 5, 2001, in her 70th year. Beloved wife of Charles. Loving mother of Heather and her husband Jeff Wooley, and Hazel Mitchell and her husband Frank Power. Proud grandmother of Steven, David, Kevin, Lucas, Sarah, and Katie. Sadly missed by her family in Scotland. The family will receive friends at the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Aiax (Pickering Village) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. Service in the chapel on Thursday, March 8, 2001 at 11 a.m.

At Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Sunday, March 4, 2001, in his 78th year. Charles Lemon, loving husband of Florence (nee Palmer). Son of the late Clifford and Mary Lemon of Bowmanville. Dear father of Sam and Fern of Newcastle, Gord and Jane of Kelowna, B.C., and Diane and Bill of Oshawa. Sadly missed by grandchildren Angela, Kerry, Joshua, Tyler, and Cory. Poppa will also be sadly missed by great-grandchildren Nicholas. Mason, Taylor, Payton, and Colton, and by his many brothers and sisters. Loved and sadly missed by all. Visitation at the Newcatle Funeral Home, 386 Mill St. South (Mill St. exit, just north of 401 at the lights) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6th. Registered Oncology Nurse at Lakeridge Health Oshawa; member of the Oshawa Ski Club; the Oshawa Gardening Club and Brookside Park Association. Peacefully at St. Michael’s Hospital on Sunday, March 4, 2001, in her 47th year. Beloved wife of Bob. Loving mother of Darcy and Emma. Cherished daughfer of Michael Francis Gilmore and the late Bessie Gilmore; daughter-in-law of the late Mary and Toots Linton. Dear sisfer of Tim Gilmore and his wife Nancy; Kathi Willison and her husband Al; sister-in-law to Ken and Linda Linton. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. (Veteran of WWII, Member of the Order of Canada) peacefully at his home in Orono, Ontario, after a long battle with prostate cancer on Sunday, March 4, 2001, in his 81st year. Loving husband of Clara Grace (nee Vatcher). Dear father of Henry of Orono, Louise and her husband Robert Theriault of Ottawa, and Carolyn and her partner Sylvain Hébert of Revelstoke, B.C. Sadly missed by his granddaughters Emily and Catherine Theriault. Brother of Jeanne Moreau and the late René Lorrain, and survived by many other family members. Friends may call at the Newcatle Funeral Home, 386 Mill St. South (Mill St. exit, just north of 401 at the lights, from 7-9 on Thursday and from 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday. Funeral Service in Orono United Church on Saturday at 2 p.m. Cremation. Donations to the Durham Regional Cancer Centre or Orono United Church would be appreciated by the family.

On March 4, 2001. Allan Maclines, born February 28, 1986. Beloved son of Ian and Deborah (nee Oliver). Dear brother of Stephen and Daniel. Much loved grandson of Ion and Carol Maclnnes, Caroline and the late Jack Oliver. Great-grandson of Jean Roberts. Fondly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Always loved and never forgotten. Father of Robert, Donald, Shirley Shaw, and Gordon (Georgette). A service was held in the chapel of Thornton cemetery , 1200 Thornton Rd. N., Oshawa, on Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to his friend Edward "Ted" Marks. SMITH, James Bruce, M.M. -
Surrounded by his family at Ajax Pickering Hospital on Sunday, March 4, 2001 in his 88th year. Dearly loved father of Irona Fraser and her husband Bill. Loving father of Elaine (Jo) Brooks. Beloved Grandpa of Dennis Hickey and wife Nancy, Paula Hennessey and husband Bob, Nadine Donohue and husband Phil, Brent Brooks and wife Towana, Teresa Brooks-Hayes, Spencer Fraser and wife Heidi. Proud Great-Grandpa of Meghan, Matthew, Melissa, Alisha, Kyle, Taylor, Amber, Cheyenne, Erin, McKenzie, Brianne and Paige. Loved brother of Donna Porter and husband Bill. Predeceased by his parents John James and Jeannie Smith, brothers Malcom, Eric, Terrence and sisters Valeen Lacey and Bernice Braithwaite. He fought hard the last years of his life with many illnesses. Proud Veteran, served with the Queen’s Own Rifles before transferring to his beloved 48th Highlanders. He won the Military Medal in 1943 after being cited several times for bravery. The camaraderie of the 48th is well known. He is now at peace after a long battle. Joining his comrades and family once again. Rest in peace Dad, we love you. Left to mourn his passing are his children, Gerard and his wife Rhonda of Flatrock, Nfld., Rick of Kitchener, and Tina and her husband Craig Noble of Cobourg; former wife and life long friend Anna Murphy of Newfoundland; sisters, Bernadette Sawyer of Kitchener, Blanche and her husband Jim Hussey, Ann and her husband Alec Peddle, Pauline and her husband Hubert Hussey and brother Joe, all of Newfoundland; grandchildren, Megan, Melanie, Jessica, Jennifer and Ryan; nieces and nephews, Gerry, Brian, Melissa, Kelly, Rodney, Jason, Russell, Wendy and Tracy, also sadly missed by his close friend Anita Chaisson and family. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kim, David, Linda and Chris and by her great grandchildren Steven, Mary, Ellen, Benjamin and Westley. Lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and their families. Dear mother of Vera Leczel and her husband Bob, Lynda Doyle and her husband Brian, Eugene Mandryk and his wife Therese and Fred Mandryk and his wife Debbie. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jason Doyle, Dawn Doyle Christopher Mandryk and his wife Nicole, Karen Ghazouli and her husband Marcel, Lara Goyetche and her husband Refer, Jonathan Mandryk and Kira Mandryk. Survived by her great-grandchildren Kody, Martine, Harrison, Kennedy and Mackenzie. Dear sister of Mary Wladyka and her husband Mike and sisters-in-law Barb Mucha and Marie Mandryk. MURRAY, Wayne N. -
Suddenly at his residence after a brief illness, on Saturday, March 3, 2001, in his 58th year. Lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend Josie. Devoted father of Troy and his wife Arlene and Wade and his wife Heather. Wayne is survived by his brother Lorne Murray. Predeceased by his parents Bill and Mary Murray. Wayne was employed for many years as a Custodial supervisor with the Durham District School Board. His sudden passing has greatly affected many of his co-workers and friends who have reached out to Wayne these past weeks. You let him know that he was respected and loved. This knowledge helped him give meaning and purpose to his life, and the strength to leave all he valued and loved behind. At Wayne's request the family are holding a private Service at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE "Thornton Chapel" 847 King St. West (721-1234). TANNER, Rosina (nee Williams) -
Long time member of the Canadian Corps, peacefully in her sleep on Saturday March 3, 2001 at Lakeridge Health Whitby, in her 81st year. Rosina leaves behind her husband Wesseley, daughters Diane and her husband Roy Begner, Kathy and her husband Howard Straughan and Charlene Tanner and her friend Al Richards, and her son Stephen and his wife Caroline. Grandchildren Terry, Gary and his wife Allison, Howie, Kelly, Jesse, Joey and Tommy. Rosina will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Friends may call at the Armstong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Tuesday March 6th from 12:30 p.m. with a funeral service to follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 2:30 pm. June 29, 1922 - March 2, 2001. Betty entered into rest on Friday, after a very brief illness. Loving Mom of Ron and his wife Brenda, Terry, Nancy and the late Judy Harris. Cherished Grandmother to James, Geoff, Lindsey and the late Andrew Harris. Betty was predeceased by her husband Charles Campbell Harris. She will be remembered for her 78 years of giving, caring, loving and sharing.
