Mary Ellen (Retiree Durham Regional Police Dept., long standing member of St. Mary of the People Parish, Catholic Women's League). passed away quietly at home on Wednesday January 2nd, 2002. Mary Ellen in her 70th year. Beloved wife of the late John "Scotty" Kelly. Loving mother of Jack Kelly and his wife Kim, Mark Kelly and his wife Hanna and Brian Kelly. Loved grandmother of Christopher, Michael and Alexander. Dear sister of Ruth Docksdader, Joan Jensen and her husband John, Billie Windeatt, Bob Windeatt and his wife Marlene. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East with Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the People Parish on Monday January 7th, 2002, at 10:30 A.M. Interment Resurrection cemetery. Prayers in the funeral home Sunday evening at 8:15 P.M. Donations in memory of Mary Ellen to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Visitation 7-9 P.M. Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Sunday.

MERCHANT, Kathleen Loraine "Rainy" -
Died peacefully on Wednesday January 2, 2002. Loving sister of Jack, Marie, Betty and their families. Sister-in-law of Thelma and auntie of Barbara Jane and Debbie. Our family would like to thank her many friends especially Alison, Murray, Louis, Graham and Rosewood Manor that provided a home away from home. They were all a joy and comfort to her. Our Dad died peacefully at Versa Care Centre, Uxbridge, on January 2, 2002 in his 94th year. His wife Violet (Smith) predeceased him in 1995. We, his children Gayle (and Larry) Folliott and Jim (and Dianne) Morris as well as his grandchildren Michael and Kathryn Folliott and Jason and Julie Morris, will all miss him. Madeline, in her 82nd year, loving mother of Garry and Freda, Jo-Anne and her husband George Finnie and the late Kyle and Pamela Partitt. Cherished nana to Tracy and her husband Jim Ferguson, Shane Finnie and great-nana to Justine and Jennifer Ferguson. Sister of the late William Tweedie and sister-in-law of Gladys Tweedie. Lovingly remembered by her husband Victor. In honour of Madeline's wishes cremation will take place with interment at Oshawa Union cemetery. On Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket after a difficult recovery from heart surgery. Beloved wife and best friend for 30 years of Philip H. Pearson of Zephyr. Wife of the late Lorne Dickinson (1964). Loving and devoted mother of Joyce Howse (Roy) and cherished grandmother of Adam and Kendal of Sonya. Special aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Donald and Maitland (Betty) Burrows. Friends and relatives will be received at Lathangue & Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 19153 Centre St., Mt. Cherished grandmother of Penny (Scott) Heard, Laura Jo Gunter (Bill Atkinson), Scott (Anne) Gunter, Clark Gunter (Tanya Davies), Sandra (John) Frey, Lisa (Brad) Eagleson, Craig (Kelly) Venning, Chad Venning (Janice Page), Mark (Lisa) McMillan, Carla (Fabio) Guglielmo and Dana McMillan. Proud great-grandmother of Sam (deceased), Maxim, Vaughn, Rowan, Stuart, David, Kaitlyn, Rhys, Avery, Taylor, Sable, Blaine, Danielle, and Ethan.
