NELSON, Evelyn -
Suddenly at Lakeridge Health Corp. Oshawa on Monday August 26th, 2002. Evelyn, in her 56th year. Evelyn was a beloved Wife, Mother and Nana. A memorial Service will be held at Oshawa Community Church on Tuesday September 3rd, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME 124, King Street East Oshawa, (905) 433-4711.

OLDHAM, Lilly Borges -
August 28, 1953 - August 26, 2002. After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lilly at Stanton Territorial Hospital, Yellowknife, NWT., with her devoted husband by her side. Beloved wife of Stuart Oldham; loving daughter of use Borges (of Newrnarket); predeceased by her father Hermann Borges; cherished sister of Karen Saamen (Hans); dear daughter-in-law of Mable and Ches Oldham (of Uxbridge); sister-in-law of Richard Oldham (Geraldine) and Brad Oldham (Pam); special aunt of Brian, Marie; Krista, Karl, Kyle; Jason, Tyler and Samantha. Despite many struggles with her health Lilly lived life to the fullest and traveled the world. She had an Impressive career in education with Yellowknife District School Board as a teacher, Principal and Supervisor of Second Languages. She held executive positions, including President, of the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church, 20 First Avenue, Uxbridge; Ontario, on Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Stanton Territorial Hospital, Yellowknife, N.W.T. would be appreciated by the family.

ROBERTS, lsobel "Betty" -
(College of Region Moose Lodge Oshawa).
Quietly at Lakeridge Health Corp Oshawa on Monday August 26th, 2002. Betty (nee Hare) beloved wife of the late William Roberts. Loving mother of Marlene Heindl and her husband Michael of Agincourt, Beth Emes and her husband Gene of Uxbridge, Judy Reid and her husband Art of Campbellford, and Bob Roberts and his wife Lorrie of Oshawa. Predeceased by her sisters and brothers. Grandmother of Carl, and Katie Heindl, Stephen and Kenneth Ernes, Christopher Caprio, Sean and Andrew Roberts, David Reid, and Jeremy Howell, Ashleigh and Kimberley Roberts, Bobbijo Trent, and Tammy Hartin. Betty will be fondly remembered by all of her friends and family.
Resting at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME 124 King Street East Oshawa (905) 433-4711. With a Funeral Service in the Chapel on Thursday August 29th, at 11:00am. Interment Rest Haven Memorial Gardens Scarborough. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

SEARS, Margaret Lorimer -
passed away on August 26th at Sunnycrest Nursing home, in Whitby. She was the beloved daughter of the late Alice and Murray McGregor Smith, former wife of the late Dennis T. Patrick Sears, mother of Michael MacGregor Sears (wife Louise), Patrick Dennis Sears (wife Mae) and Theresa Bridget Sears (Husband, David Switzer). She will be missed by many including her longtime friends Gladys Wruth, Rowena Allison, her sister-in-law Kathleen Schnaider, her many grandchildren and great grandchildren and her fine friends and the wonderful caregivers at Sunnycrest. The family will welcome any donations to the Life Enrichment Programs at Sunnycrest. Arrangements entrusted to W.C. Town Funeral Chapel.

WILLIAMS, James (Big James 1%er) -
Suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 42, on Monday, August 26, 2002, at his home in Newcastle with his loving wife Mimi at his side. Incredible and cherished husband of Mimi Williams. Amazing Dad of Jamie, Brett, Dunae, and baby Brooke-Lynn. Youngest of six children of Al and Jean Williams of Trenton. Big James 1%er was a respected member of Outlaws Canada – he’s left us now to start a new chapter. Friends were received on Thursday evening at the Clubhouse in Ajax, and on Friday afternoon and evening at NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S. A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 31, at ST. GEORGE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, Newcastle, followed by interment at Bond Head cemetery. A trust fund is being established for James’ four children and donations may be made through Newcastle Funeral Home, 905-987-3964.

GLASBERGEN, Erzsebet Magdolna (Weiland) -
Age 91 years. On Sunday August 25, 2002, the Lord took Home His child at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Beloved wife for 50 years of the late Frans Gysbert Glasbergen. Dear mother of Peter & Alice Glasbergen; George & Debbie Glasbergen; Corry & Auke VanderMeer; Frank & Marlene Glasbergen; Case & Geraldine Glasbergen; John & Alice Glasbergen. Lovingly remembered by 23 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters 1 in Holland and 1 in Hungary; and 3 sisters-in-law in the Netherlands. Visitation will take place at The Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville 2-4 & 7-9 pm Tuesday. Funeral Service will be held 11am Wednesday at Hebron Christian Reformed Church, Whitby, ON. Interment Bowmanville cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Durham Pregnancy Help Centre.

At Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Sunday, August 25, 2002. Jean, loving wife for 34 years of Clifford Meval of Courtice. Dear mother of Heather and her fiancé Dan of Mississauga, Glenn and his life partner Sharon of Whitby, Jennifer and her husband Eric of Sutton, and Elizabeth and her partner Paul of Toronto. Special Grandma of Caitlyn. Loving daughter of Doris Madder and the late Albert. Survived by 2 sisters, 3 brothers, and their families. Friends may call at NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S. (just north of 401 at the lights) on Tuesday, August 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Cremation, with private family interment at Oshawa Union cemetery. MURRAY, Marguerite (nee Davis) -
passed away peacefully at Fairview Lodge in Whitby on Sunday, August 25th, 2002 in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob). Marguerite was born in Fort William (now Thunder Bay) Ontario on August 28th, 1912, the only daughter of Marie Louise Gagnon and William Davis. She is survived by her daughters Gail Dahl of London and Shelley and her husband Bruce Hunt of Whitby. Cherished Grandmother of Tamara Dahl, Kevin Dahl and his wife Jill and Laura and Lindsay Hunt. Great Grandmother of Abigail and Emily Dahl. A Private Family Funeral was held with interment to follow in Thunder Bay. Arrangements under the direction of OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE “Thornton Chapel” 847 King St. West (905-721-1234). Memorial Donations to Fairview Lodge or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Fairview Lodge for their exceptional care over the past few years.

BANDEL, Emily Rose -
(June 9th, 1915 - August 24th, 2002). It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear “Aunt Meme”. Her home in recent years was Extendicare; and the wonderful and caring staff who work there and the many residents and their families whom Emily came to know, became her extended family. Aunt Meme also attended Dialysis at Whitby where the Doctors and staff were equally as caring. Predeceased by her sisters, Otilla “Till" Heffering and Helen MacDonald, and her brother William “Will” Bandel. She was loved dearly by her nieces, Jane, Jackie, Judy, Jennifer, Julianne, Jo-Ann, and Susan, and her nephews, Michael, Jim and Richard, and their respective spouses, children and grandchildren. Her special baking and preserves will be missed by all. Emily’s strong will to live, her courage, determination, unselfishness and kindness towards others was an inspiration to all. She will be in our hearts and prayers forever. Friends will be received at OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE “Thornton Chapel”, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Tuesday, August 27th from 10 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Mary of The People Catholic Church (570 Marion Ave. at Stevenson Rd. N.) at 11:30 A.M. Interment St. John’s cemetery. (Member of Centennial Albert United Church). Quietly at Thornton View, on Saturday August 24, 2002. Mamie, (nee Petrie) in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Howard Canning. Dear mother of Sheila and her husband Harold Whitbread and Margaret and her husband Bill Geisberger. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Catherine Whitbread, Susan Whitbread, Janet Geisberger, Beth and her husband Rob Corbett and David and his wife Mary Geisberger and her great grandsons Joshua and Jacob Geisberger and Nathan Corbett. Relatives and friends may pay their respects at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME LIMITED, 152 King Street East, Oshawa, (9O5-433-5558) on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. A service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday August 28, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Oshawa Union cemetery. Dear mother of Steven and his wife Debbie, Bradley and his wife Peggy and Mark. Loving grandmother of Lori, Lindsey, Matthew, Jennifer, Jesse and Jason. Loved sister of Tom Armstrong and his wife Bev and Cheryl Stanley and her husband Wayne. Predeceased by her parents Arlie and Victor Armstrong. Friends were able to call at the Morris Funeral Chapel, 4 Division Street, Bowmanville on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held in our Chapel on Tuesday at 1p.m. Interment Bowmanville cemetery. Donations to The Movement Disorders Clinic, Multiple System Atrophy Research c/o Dr. Mandar Jog, London Health Sciences Centre, University Campus, London, ON would be appreciated.

WRAIGHT, Mr. Douglas C. -
At Peterborough Regional Health Centre (Palliative Care) on Saturday, August 24, 2002. Doug Wraight of Peterborough, in his 66th year. Loving husband and best friend for 44 years to Barbara C. Heslop. Dear father of Paul and his wife Irene of Oshawa, Blair and his wife Kelly of Peterborough, Colin of Peterborough, Alison Wraight (Hughes) and her husband Greg of Toronto. Loving grandfather of Alyssa, Brianne, Shayna, Vanessa, Cassandra, Jacob, and Claudia. Brother of Margaret Collins (Ted) of Maidstone, Ontario. Also survived by 2 uncles, 1 aunt, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. Pre-deceased by parents Mary and Charlie Wraight and a brother John. Doug belonged to the All Saints Choir for 28 years, member of the Peterborough Railway Modellers, retired Realtor (Bowes and Cocks) and employee of Comstock Funeral Home. Friends were received at the Comstock Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, Peterborough from 7-9 pm Tuesday. The service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church (Rubidge Street, Peterborough) on Wednesday, August 28th at 1:00 pm. The Reverend J. Michael A. Wright will be officiating. In memory of Doug donations to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation (Palliative Care Unit) or the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Society would be appreciated by the family.

At Fosterbrooke Long Term Care Facility, Newcastle, on Saturday, August 24, 2002, in her 84th year. A long-time resident of Fosterbrooke, Dorothy will be missed by staff and fellow residents. A funeral service will be held at the NEWCASTLE FUNERAL HOME, 386 Mill St. S. (just north of 401 at the lights) on Tuesday, August 27, at 1:00 p.m., with visiting for one hour prior to the service. Interment Bond Head cemetery , Newcastle.

Suddenly, at Rouge Valley Healthcare Centre, Scarborough, on Friday August 23, 2002. Sandy Clark, in his 55th year. Beloved husband of Mildred Bogdanow. Loved son of Betty and Bill Clark. Loving father of Alison and Griffm. Step-father of Trevor and his wife Lorie. Loved by many aunts and uncles. DEWAR, Keith Phillips -
Past Master of The Cedar Lodge Branch 270 and member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 112. Mr. Dewar passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital, Sudbury, on Friday, August 23, 2002 with his wife Heather at his side. Son of the late Robert and Eleanor Dewar, he was born in Prince Edward Island on Sept.10, 1921, and served as a Warrant Officer in the RAF in India during World War II. A former constable with the Oshawa Police Department, he retired from General Motors in 1975 with 29 years service, and then acted as a volunteer fireman in Manvers Township. An avid singer and story-teller, he was very proud of his Scottish heritage and served as Drum Major of the General Motors Pipe Band. Survived by his dear wife, Heather, step-daughters Julie-Lynn and Angela Dawn, and dear sister, Gwen Dewar. Predeceased by his beloved first wife, Dorothy Frape, and brothers Roel and Arthur. Memorial service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 117 Byron St. S., Whitby on Thursday, Sept.5, 2002 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at 5:00 p.m. at Ballyduff Presbyterian cemetery , Manvers Township. Donations in Keith's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
