Dr. Mark Paul Rosenbloom - 03/07/2006

With profound sadness we announce the death of Dr. Mark Rosenbloom at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus on Monday, March 6, 2006 in his 71st year. Beloved husband of Myrna for 44 years and loving father of David (Rowena), Toby and Samuel. Proud grandfather of Sophia, Sarah and Edgar. He is also survived by sister Glenda (Michael), nieces Ana and Zoe, and predeceased by parents Sadie and Aaron all of London, England. Mark served as a Medical Officer and General Surgeon with the Canadian Armed Forces for 20 years. Following retirement in 1984, he practiced psychotherapy until ill health forced him to quit in October 2005. An avid squash player, story-teller and dog walker, he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Funeral Service will be held in the New Jewish cemetery Chapel, on Herbert Corners Road, Osgoode, ON. on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 2 p.m. Shiva to be observed at 2257 Kipling Street. A special thank you to Dr. Langill, Dr. Faught, Dr. Seely and the staff of 5 West. Arrangements in care of the Central Chapel of Husle, Playfair & McGarry.

Paul H. Serson - 03/05/2006

Peacefully at Carleton Lodge on Friday, March 3rd, 2006 in his 83rd year. Son of the late Harold and the late Eva Serson. Brother of the late Harold Jr. (Ada and the late Barbara Hornyansky) and Elizabeth Serson (the late John A. and the late Harry Johnson). Dearly beloved husband of Margaret E. Reid (nee Peggy Garnham) and step-father to Michael, Becky (Glenn), Margaret (Bruce) and John (Ellen). Loving grandfather to Kevin, Reid, Sarah, Rachel, James and Keith. He will be sadly missed by nieces Terry, Robin, Karen and nephew Ragnar and many cousins in the area. Paul started his career at the Dominion Observatory and became Director of the Division of Geomagnetism, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. He and his colleagues developed the Airborne Magnetometer and many other scientific inventions. Paul was also a great lover of music and played violin and viola taking part in many community quartets. Paul retired in 1981 and spent the last 6 years of his life in a nursing home. Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Carleton Lodge. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Saturday, March 11th, 2006 from 12 noon until Service Time in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations to Carleton Lodge, 55 Lodge Road K2C 3H1 would be appreciated or the NAC Orchestra.

Beloved husband of Madeleine and loving father of Jo-Ann (Dave Tomlinson) and Dave (Jos e Alie). Proud grandfather of Andr , Stefan and Jacob. Dear brother of Olivia, Dorothy, Frances (Bill Thomas) and Sandra. Relatives and friends may attend a funeral mass to be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 1758 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 10 a.m. In his memory, those wishing may make a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 403-1355 Bank Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1H 8K7. Accidentally on Sunday, March 5, 2006 at the age of 38 along with her unborn baby girl. Beloved wife of Earl Simmons. She also leaves behind her son, the sunshine of her life, Bradly William Simmons. Dear daughter of Pierre Rochon and the late Helen Charron and daughter-in-law of Isabel Forsythe. Loving sister of Roger (Suzanne Regimbald) Rochon, Jeanette (Donald) Fillion and Blake Higgins. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law. Friends may visit at the McGarry Memorial Chapel, 139 Valley Road, Wakefield, Quebec on Thursday, March 9th, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, March 10th from 10 a.m. until service time in the Chapel at 1 p.m. followed by interment at Holy Cross cemetery , Fieldville, Quebec.

Kimberly Ross Smyth - 03/06/2006

Born September 11, 1956 in Cold Lake, Alberta. Worked for Canada Revenue Agency for 27 years, working for 18 years in Ottawa, where at the age of 49 Kim passed on March 4, 2006. Kim is survived by his parents Ross and Jean of Winnipeg, Manitoba, his 5 sisters and brothers-in-law, 9 nephews, 3 nieces, 1 great-niece, many relatives and an abundance of great friends. A Celebration of Kim's life will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Please join us in celebration. Memorial donations may be made to the Liver Foundation or the charity of your choice.

Anne Sternberg (nee Ginsburg) - 02/28/2006

Peacefully at Hillel Lodge on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Ralph Sternberg and loving mother of Laya (Ted Jacobsen) and the late Billy (Roslyn) Sternberg. Devoted Bubby Anne to Stephanie (Wayne Dancey), Stewart (Jennifer) Wolfe, Michael (Susan), Ronnie, Howie, Shawn and Andrea. Great-Bubby Anne to Cory, Jaymee, Savannah, David, Aviva, Rachel, Lindsay, Brian, Cody, Sam and the late Shannon. Predeceased by sisters Sarah, Fannie, Helen and Lily. Auntie Annie will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. A special thank-you to private caregivers Althea and Lisa and also to the caring and dedicated staff at Hillel Lodge. A Funeral Service will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue, on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 2 p.m. Interment following at the Jewish Community cemetery , Bank Street, Ottawa. Floyd Jr. (Buck) Summers - 03/08/2006

passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the age of 50. Born August 30, 1955. The son of Denise Summers and Floyd Summers. Beloved husband of Joanne Dub . Loving father of Floyd, Crystal, Megan, Shaun, Corey, Kelly, Melanie and Channel. Grandfather of Casey and Jaden. Dear brother of Peter, Emile the late Michael, Suzanne, Marlene, Marie, Diane and Lynn. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Friday, March 10th from 7-9 pm and on Saturday, March 11 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. E. Patricia Torkos (nee Morris) - 02/27/2006

passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 12:40am at the age of 75 after an exhausting battle. So loved by her children Linda Springstead (George) and the late James Jr. (Sonya). Cherished by her grandchildren Kayla and Alec. Will be sadly missed by Brittany and Jessica, Gizella and James Torkos, Helen and Paul Macsuga, Rita Morris, Jean Cobden, her many nieces and nephews and all of her friends. Memorial Service will be held at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Wednesday, March 1 at 4pm. In memoriam donations to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation appreciated for the extraordinary care of the staff.

Ethel May Tunney (nee Elvidge) - 02/28/2006

On February 27, 2006, a remarkable woman passed on when Ethel May Tunney began her new journey. Ethel, twice widowed at an early age (by Weldon Black and James Tunney), raised 4 wonderful children; Barbara (Al), Bud (Iris), Rodney and Deborah-Anne (Andy). She is fondly remembered by her boundless optimism and love for life, which will live on in her grandchildren; James, Wendy (Sasha), Jennifer (George), Ashley and Matthew (Rebekah) and great-grandchildren Tiana, Emma and Abigail. Ethel's love for her family was absolute and is returned in full for all time. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Thursday, March 2, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, March 3 at 11:30am. Interment to follow at Beechwood cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Foundation would be appreciated. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre for the sensitive care and kindness they showed to Ethel and her family in difficult times.
