Peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at the Ottawa General Hospital. Loving husband of Jean Stanley. Father of Stanley and Jill, father-in-law of Rick Farmer. Devoted grandfather of Natasha and Simon Ramsay and Ross and Anna Farmer. Brother of Donald and Edward. Remembered by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Hawthorne United Church, 2244 Russell Road on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 11am. Donations in memory of Al may be made to Hawthorne United Church or Canadian Blood Services.

Mary Dorothea Raymond (Shaw) - 05/13/2006

Peacefully in God’s Loving Arms, Mary Raymond (Shaw) in her 95th year, beloved wife of the late George Albert Raymond and survived by her husband Arthur Shaw. Dear and loving mother to daughter Joan Echlin and sons Peter (Eileen), Richard (Ilona) and Jimmy (Charlene). Dearest Grandmother to Stephen, Bruce, Mary Lou, Debbie, Laurie, Jamie, Jonas, Justin, Andrea, Jonathan, Stephanie and Great-Grandmother of 12. To the best Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother ever- We love you, we will miss you dearly and we will always remember you for your smile and kind and loving heart. An enormous thank you to the caring staff of the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre 2 West. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street on Monday, May 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, May 16 from 10:30am until service time in the Chapel at 11:30am followed by reception and interment at Capital Memorial Gardens.

Joan Riley-Clarke - 05/17/2006

A lively mix of curiosity, kindness and strong opinion, Joan was born in Grand Falls, N.B in 1916 and died May 16 after a brief illness, a full life, and only a few years of decline. She trained as a nurse in Sussex, N.B., then worked in a hospital in Yonkers, N.Y. When Pearl Harbour was bombed she returned home to join the Canadian army nursing corps and set sail for South Africa where she cared for soldiers injured in the war. She married Art Riley of Ottawa in 1946 and raised their two children at home until he died suddenly, in 1962. Widowed with two dependents, Joan returned to school for a diploma in public health nursing and spent several years as “Nurse Riley” at Woodroffe High School. After retiring, she met Stewart Clarke on holiday in Portugal and they married in 1985. For almost twenty years, they enjoyed travel, friends and family. Joan is survived by her husband Stewart, her daughter Susan Riley (Laura McNairn); her son Ted (Margaret Riley); and grandchildren D’Arcy, Luke, Brannan, James and William. Also by her sister, Lois Ross, brother Arnold Burgess and nieces, nephews and many friends. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond Road on Friday from 4 to 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, 415 Picadilly Avenue on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 11am. In lieu of flowers donations to TVO, or any charity, would be appreciated. Our thanks to the caring staff at West End Villa.

Special thanks to palliative care nurse Cathe Boucher, Dr. John F. Seely and the nursing staff on 7 NW for their wonderful care. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Friday, May 19, 2006 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm . Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 151 Laurier Avenue East on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 12noon . Cremation to follow. Loving dad of Linda (Gordon Willick), Darlene (John Caines), Elaine (John Butcher) and Lauren (Walter Eggum). Cherished grandpa of Patrick, Catherine and Kathleen. Survived by his sister Gertrude Connolly, as well as five nieces and three nephews. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road, Ottawa at Aviation Parkway on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 from 6 to 9pm. Visitation will also be held at the Kane & Fetterly Funeral Home, 5301 Decarie Boulevard, Montreal, Quebec on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church, 6405 Terrebonne Ave., N.D.G., Montreal on Thursday, May 18, 2006 at 1pm. Interment Cote-Des-Neiges Cemetery, Montreal. A special thanks to the staff of the Montfort Hospital for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lorne's memory to The Misson in Ottawa, The Welcome Hall Misson in Montreal or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Miss Annette Thériault, 83 years old (retired Statistics Canada) peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 14, 2006 surrounded by family and friends. Predeceased by her parents Ernest Theriault and Eva Rochon. Dear sister of Jeannine (late Douglas Lawrence) Arizona, Jean-Charles (late Adrienne Léveillée) Ottawa, Roland (late Claire Létourneau) Ottawa and Paul (Thérèse Beauregard) Boucherville. Special aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers André (late Mélissa Poirier), François (late Jacqueline Legault) and her sisters Camille and Claire.

We acknowledge with great affection, Annette as a sister, a sister-in-law, an aunt and as a sincere and faithful friend. Annette touched many people by unconditional love and her prayers. For many years she cared for Camille with great devotion. Special thanks to Father Charles Mwila, Father Benu Penoukou of Togo, Dr. Jennifer Armstrong, Mrs. Patricia Villemaire and all the caregivers who worked by her side over the years.

Friends are invited to pay their respects at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Wednesday, May 17 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. At the Hospice at May Court on Tuesday, May 9th, 2006, William Gilbert Tremblay, age 72. Dearly loved husband of Beverley (Hall) and much loved and respected father of Deborah (Bernard) York and Rodney (Lynn). He cherished and was so proud of his grandchildren, Christopher and Charles York and Matthew and Shane Tremblay. Bill is survived by his sister Louisa Thorne, brothers Stuart (Therese), Rod (Jackie), Jim (Pat), Wes (Phyllis), Hervé (Bev), brothers-in-law Arnold Hall (Norma), Charles F. Kerr and many nieces and nephews. His sister Phillis Kerr predeceased him in 1984. Bill's kind heart, caring manner, love of his family, church and friends will be forever missed. Friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue (at Richmond Road), on Friday, May 12 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of Bill's life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Elgin at Lisgar Sts., on Saturday, May 13 at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Knox Presbyterian Church, 120 Lisgar St., Ottawa, K2P 0C2 or the Hospice at May Court, 114 Cameron Avenue, Ottawa, K1S 0X1. Loving mother of Algimontas, Marija ( the late Eddy ) and Nijole ( Dennis ). Step-mother of Pauline and Paul. Grandmother of Alex, Martin ( Katarina ), Melanie ( Stefan ), Cassandra and Sabrina. Great grandmother of Diego and Alyssa. Dear sister of Marijona Fitzpatrick of Denver, CO. and Aunt to Linda and Jim. She will be fondly remembered by her extended family and many friends. Special Grandma to Natasha Rende, Pamela Forget and Angela Brown. Great Grandma to Olivia, Sebastien, Michaela and Peyton of Ottawa. Dear sister of Jack McQuaig and loving aunt to Peter, Linda, Don, John and Wendy McQuaig all of Toronto. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Rd, at Aviation Parkway on Saturday, July 8th from 10:30am until service time in the chapel at 11:30am.
