Bell, Mary Louise
BELL - MARY LOUISE BELL, beloved wife of Robert, passed away at her home midnight Monday, January 29, 2001 in her 71st year. She was very close to first cousins Kenneth Porteous and family of Edmonton, Alta, Donald MacDonald and family of Nashville, Tenn. and her uncle Rae Porteous and his wife Isabel of Chatham, ON. Equally important to Mary were her more distant cousins, Owen Nye, his wife Edna of Chatham, ON and their family; also Margaret Alton and her husband Russell of Goderich, ON. Robert's sister Marion and brother Tom of Scotland were dear to her. Her friends were drawn from many circles particularly former colleagues of her 30 years as a teacher with the Lambton County Board of Education and her long association with the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club and latterly Greenwood Golf Club. Special thanks to Dr. Cynthia Arnold and to V.O.N. nurses Diane, Noel and Teresa. Visitation will take place at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, 2 - 4,30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 followed by a reception at Wagg's Restaurant, 420 N. Christina St. A funeral service will be held at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home, 595 Campbell St., Lucknow on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 11,30 a.m. followed by a luncheon at the Lucknow Presbyterian Church. Sympathy may be expressed by a donation to the charity of your choice.

BERUBE - Peacefully in her sleep at Trillium Villa on Wednesday, January 31, 2001 HENEDINE BERUBE (CHABOT), age 93 of Sarnia. Wife of the late Adelard (2000). Dear mother of Rosaire (Ross) Berube and his wife June, Antoinette (Toni) Conroy and her husband Gordon and Jacqueline and her late husband Edward McMenamin all of Sarnia. Cherished grandmother of 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by 10 sisters. Henedine and Adelard worked together for most of their lives in various businesses. Visitation will be held at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 3 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial 10,30 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Interment Our Lady of Mercy cemetery. Jacques Joseph Jack de Roos, of Sarnia passed away at Lambton Hospital s Group Palliative Care on Wednesday, January 31, 2001 at the age of 62. Much loved husband of Alyce (Bruins) de Roos, dear father of Debbie and Greg Shaw of Corunna and family Derek and Dayna, Barry and Karen de Roos of Port Elgin and family Taylor, Connor and Austin, Bryan and Christine de Roos of Sarnia and family Christopher and Candice, Brenda and Dave Wilson of Wyoming and family Lauren and Nash. Brother of Wilma and Jake Kerkhof of Hanover, John and Agnes de Roos of London, Gerhard de Roos of Toronto, Rita and Gerald Molloy of Detroit, Michigan, Riek, Henny, Paula, Berna and Susanne all of Holland. Jack retired from Shell Canada in 1995 after 25 years of service. Visitation at the STEWART FUNERAL HOME , 254 George Street / 383-7121 on Friday 7 9 p.m. Funeral mass at 11,00 o clock at St. Joseph s Catholic Church, Corunna with Fr. Dikran Islemeci officiating. EDITH FRANCES FLECK n e Johnson. Peacefully, at Vision Nursing Home, Sarnia on Saturday January 27, 2001, in her 88th year. Devoted wife of the late Neal Fleck (1974). Dear mother of Ronald Fleck and his wife Gloria (of Calgary), Carl Fleck, Q.C. and his wife Pascale, and of Diane McKellar and her husband John, of Sarnia. Beloved grandmother of Jane, Steven, Brian, Susan, Pamela, David, and Aj , as well as several great grandchildren. Predeceased by her brother Keith Johnson, and sister Margaret Douglas of Sarnia. A dear soul, Edith will be remembered for her volunteer work with the VON, the Ladies Auxiliary of St. John s Church, and the Canadian Cancer Society. Relatives and Friends will be received at Stewart s Funeral Home, 250 George Street, Sarnia / 519-383-7121,Tuesday January 30, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. John Latham at St. John s Anglican Church, 332 Devine Street, Wednesday, January 31, at 2,00 p.m. to be followed by a reception in the parish hall. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Megan Holliday Memorial Fund c/o the London Foundation, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

Korpan, Apollo (Allan)

KORPAN - Suddenly in Sarnia, Ontario on Saturday, February 10, 2001 APOLLO (ALLAN) KORPAN. Cherished husband of Joan Lenore Anderton. Beloved father of his three beautiful daughters Denise and her husband Richard Braiden, Sandra, and Margot and her husband Peter Beauchamp. Adored grandfather of Michael, Kevin, Marcel and Molly. Al was born in Hafford, Saskatchewan in 1924, the only son of the late John Korpan and Anna Zarubiak. He was predeceased by his sister Elsie Madarash of Saskatoon who is survived by her husband Joseph and their children Neil and Cherie. Al served in the RCAF during World War II and later graduated from the University of Saskatchewan. He was employed by Dow Chemical of Canada for many years in Sarnia and Edmonton and was active on several boards and committees including Lambton College and Sarnia General Hospital. His golf glove at Sarnia Golf and Curling Club was well worn. A service of remembrance will take place on Wednesday, February 14, 2001 at 3 p.m. at Grace United Church, Cathcart Blvd. and Indian Rd., Sarnia, followed immediately by a celebration of Al's life at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, Christina St., Sarnia. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (519-344-3131).

MacKinnon, Ellen Margaret (Rawlings)
ELLEN MARGARET (RAWLINGS) MACKINNON AGE 74 OF Sarnia passed away at the Lambton Hospitals Group Sarnia General Hospital on Monday, February 12, 2001. Beloved wife of the late William G. MacKinnon (1980). Dear mother of Lynda MacKinnon of Calgary, Charles Chuck MacKinnon and Trina Ulmer of Sarnia, Bill MacKinnon and Shirley Groendyk of Point Edward, Pat MacKinnon, Doug and Gwen MacKinnon, Bob MacKinnon, all of Sarnia, Thomas Cal MacKinnon and Dan Waszak of Detroit and Doug Thrower and family of Watford. Sister of Evabelle Bennett of Sarnia. Sister-in-law of Mildred Rawlings of Windsor. Devoted grandmother of; Shara and Curtis Pixley, Kyle, Aimee, Adam, Philip, Kate, Kristen, Brandon MacKinnon and Deb Wyrzykowski. Special great grandmother to Savannah. Also survived by her aunt Mildred Tuletski of Hespler and her uncle Austin Rawlings of Forest. Predeceased by her parents, Lloyd and Isabel Rawlings, daughter Margaret Ann Thrower (1992), grandson Scott (1980) and two brothers, Caleb Rawlings (2000) and Herbert Rawlings (1944). Auntie Ellen Nana will be missed by many nieces, nephews and dozens of special children who returned her love. As well as being the Apple Lady at the Sarnia Farmer s Market Ellen served faithfully as Plympton Township Councillor (1977-1979), Trustee Lambton County Board of Education (1988-1990), Lambton MPP (1990-1995), Board of Directors of the Family Counseling Centre, The Lambton County Association of the Mentally Handicapped, Lambton Elderly Outreach and Lambton Seniors. Ellen was Past Noble Grand and Past District Deputy of Rebekah District 22 A. Family will receive friends at the STEWART FUNERAL HOME, 254 George Street / 383-7121 on Tuesday 7-9 p.m., Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Lodge service auspices Rebekah District 22 A Tuesday evening at 6,30 p.m. Funeral service in the Chapel on Thursday at 1,00 o clock with Bill Strachan officiating. Interment Moore Union cemetery , Mooretown. Friends are invited to join the family, following the interment, for a reception at the Brigden Fair Grounds. Predeceased by her parents John & Mary Murray, brother Clarence Murray and sister Madeline Murray. Mary was born in Wyoming and a resident of Sarnia for over fifty years. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church and the Catholic Women's league. Cherished grandmother of Elizabeth & David Dawson, Daniel & Donald Nadolny, Neil & Allison Powter, David, Sarah & Eric Hogenbirk, Jessica & Jacob Dawson. Mother-in-law of Chris Powter, Edmonton. Dearest friend of Evelyn Carter. Predeceased by daughter June Powter and parents George Skinner and Mary Hazel Macdonald. An active member of Central United Church since 1949 including the United Church Women and Cana Club, Jean will be fondly remembered by former mission band, Sunday school and elementary school students and by family and friends who are recipients of her ceramic creations.
